  1. I loved Dixon Ward with Buffalo. Seeing his picture up kind of saddens me. Not gonna lie...
  2. Interesting game you guys got going on here... i think i'll participate. (im assuming we're selecting some of our least liked Sabres of all time?) lol
  3. Mark Pysyk seems like a guy who will be a leader.
  4. Or, a Darnell Nurse... if we pick outside the top-4, and Nurse is available at our pick, i would wage anything that would be our selection.
  5. Few things i found interesting.... -The two schools are only separated by 5 miles. -#6 Stu Wilson for Yale is from Pittsford, NY and is the son of RIT coach Wayne Wilson. -#19 Anthony Day for Yale is from Buffalo, NY. -#18 Kenny Agostino for Yale was one of the players Pittsburgh traded for Jerome Iginla. -#20 Matthew Peca for Quinnipiac, is a very good player (7th rd to Tampa) but has no relation to Micheal Peca.
  6. Definitely the Sabres view him highly as a prospect. Just watched his interview on sabres.com, Ruhwedel said the Sabres kept an interest in him all season long. Maybe this is why they dealt Brennen? They knew they'd be needing a spot and were confident in signing him, and obviously didn't foresee Myers getting hurt. Rip Simonick picks all numbers, and they are typically high, random numbers, until they earn it. Few organizations do this tradition still. Florida and Ducks among them. But, many of our guys always decide to keep the numbers...
  7. Worked all day, missed the game and was away from the computer, so i will ask this here, even though it has nothing to do with his play but it does have to do with Ruhwedel. How come he was given #5 in his debut game, while others, such as Flynn (65), Pysyk (53), Foligno (82), Ennis (63), Adam (72) and Myers (57) have to "earn" their jersey number of choice, even though some of these guys decided to keep the nascar number they were given by Rip? Did anybody say?
  8. I would say no way, zero chance... but with fanboy Terry Pegula calling the shots, anything is possible in "hockey heaven".
  9. Armia will not be in Rochester at all. After his Finnish season ends, he will go to Finland national team camp to prepare for the World Championships.
  10. Yes.
  11. For sake of adding to this thread, if the Sabres are with a high pick again next year, give me Leon Draisaitl all day long. Though im almost certain he'll go #1. He once scored 192 points in a 29 game season.
  12. I am so conflicted as to who I would want. MacKinnion, Jones, Drouin all look nice and are the ones mainly talked about, but Barkov and Donovan McNabb's nephew look very promising too.
  13. Hate to say it, but i have got to agree. He looked like he was the worst player on the ice in Winnipeg, too. -6 in the last two games and showing zero effort, zero passion in these last two. Just one shot on goal tonight.
  14. Few years. Darcy on WGR today once again kept warning fans that the "great" teams had to face 3-4 years of being a bottom of the barrel team and we have yet to do so.
  15. Outscored 7-1 since Ott quote.
  16. Their passing is awful and they lack chemistry that's for sure. But, look at some of the guys we have on this team. Flynn is playing with Porter. Gerbe is playing with top line guys and against top lines. Hecht is with Scott and Kaleta. This is a AHL roster playing in the NHL.
  17. Ted Black spoke with the Buffalo News today for a story in the Thursday edition. Here's what he said about the "fans anger"... Much of what he said there has been said in this thread. People boo because it's their way to show frustration, and they won't "f off" like Ott's puckbunny suggested because we care. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2013/04/sabres-president-says-organization-is-still-optimistic-about-delivering-a-champion.html And for the record, the club means much more to me then a corporate entity. If that makes me weak, so be be?
  18. But you don't know where we will be picking. The lower draft spot we get, the tougher it would be, obviously. But if we're picking 5th or 6th, to move up to 2nd or 3rd wouldn't be that big of reach.
  19. Chicago is having a similar story about booing this past week, as fans booed closer Carlos Marmol who blown a lead. It's also been in the media like it has been in Buffalo. Here is the manager of the Cubs opinion on the booing in Chicago.... http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/cubs-talk/one-night-marmol-quiets-boos
  20. I wrote that assuming Vanek had a similar no-trade clause as Pominville did. No idea if he does or doesn't. If he does, i would be certain Edmonton is on his no-go list. Obviously it'd be bigger then just Vanek for the 3rd, but i am not sure if it's going to take "a lot more". I think Colorado wants Seth Jones. If he goes off the board early, why wouldn't they want a Vanek type forward? Pittsburgh didn't exactly pay an arm and a leg for MA Fluery a few years ago. It's a move up deal. Vanek + our first for a top 3 plus "a lot more" on their side to get it done.
  21. Colorado is one of the youngest teams in the league, and their lack of age may be one reason why they are having some major issues right now. I wouldn't say "ever" but you're right about it being unlikely. Other Vanek destinations i think include Edmonton (if he agrees to go there, doubtful i would think) or Nashville.
  22. Vanek to Colorado for their top-3 pick, since we're probably not gonna get it ourselves. Make them add some on their part and ship his ass.
  23. Don't compare European supporters to American. The culture of supporting is much different. Second, soccer teams have fan groups, that you join. They have thousands of members. When the club pisses the fans off, the "fans" boycott games, or turn their back on the field for an entire game. Or hold very nasty anti-club banners. Would that be better? If the entire end of FNC turned their back on on each PP? Or if fans brought banners in with anti-Pegula messages? And, not everybody likes hockey. In the big picture of things, we're all a pretty small community. In Europe, soccer is massive. Almost everyone has an opinion or interest in a nearby club. Thus theres so much more people that are able to participate in a teams supporting. If you get annoyed, theres a long list of others who would want your seat. My comment was obviously false. Theres many other places that are better then Buffalo even during our peak level of enthusiasm, but in terms of hockey, we're not far off. When we're on, we're on an elite level. That also goes to European hockey teams, and i don't care for their flares or drums. Sure, their chants are louder (and they have more) but thats only because their organized grouped, in Buffalo (and USA), it's 19k individuals who barley know anybody in the arena, create an unreal buzz and atmosphere.
