  1. Both players were nice finds by the scouting department. Ruhwedel looked real solid in the short time he was here and just think, not only he was put in a horrid situation, but he never had the ability to go to training camp or work in our system until he played his first game. He may not be a game changer, but as someone said a while ago after he signed, if he can become our "Tanev", that would be a very solid addition. At first, even though he looked decent in most games he's played, i didn't think Flynn was a NHL player until just recently. He's a raw player. Also a player who obviously wasn't with us for training camp (since there was no camp), but he gives it his all. Works hard and seems like a very high IQ player. It took him until his 13th game to get his first hit. I thought that was worrisome a bit. Recently though, he's stuck up for teammates and with his confidence clearly getting higher and higher, he became more physical and went to the net more.
  2. Per Sabres.com, Terry Pegula and Darcy Regier will hold a end of the season press conference on Monday at 1pm. Couple things that come to mind- -Glad we will finally hear from Pegula. Ed Kilgore said a month or so ago, the reason he's silent was because he knows talk is cheap and theres nothing he can say during the season that would change anything. All true, but glad he's gonna talk now that the season is over, since last year they had no conference after the season. -If Regier is gonna be there, which Sabres web site says he is, to me it means he's staying. If he was on the way out, that decision was already made weeks/days ago among the inner circle of the Sabres brass. I knew it was a long shot to get rid of Darcy, but he's our GM going forward.
  3. Seems to me, you just need a lil more booze ink.
  4. If Philly just gets 1 point tomorrow, we will have the same exact chance at winning the lottery as if we had lost tonight.
  5. This could be fun. Let's set it up, PA.
  6. Same, and i went to the game. If i get out of work, i will definitely be in.
  7. Add Washington to that, and it's 1-9-2. Game. Set. Match. Season donzo.
  8. Don't forget TJ. I'm hoping the Bills select Justin Hunter or Da'Rick Rogers with one of the second round picks. While i am no football expert and i never played the sport so my opinion shouldn't really matter on this subject, but i love what both bring to a football team.
  9. thank god this horror show finally comes to an end.
  10. Between the next two drafts, and Grigorenko and Armia, they better have some legit goal scorers coming up, or our rebuilding will take much longer then anyone could imagine. Vanek is going to be 30 next season. When will our rebuilding come to an end? At the very earliest, the following year, but more realistically, the season after (Grigos and Armia's 2nd full season in NHL), when Vanek will be 33. Will he be as lethal goal scorer then as he is now? Doubtful. As a power forward, all the abuse he takes, you have to wonder about his durability. Heck, he's not even healthy now. Each season he's hurt and by age 33 that will only get much worse. Wear and tear on a power forward is like a RB in football. He's my favorite player but if they can get some assets for him for the future, you do it. And, since he's peaking right now as many have already said, it'd be silly for the Sabres to sit on him and wait. Trade him to a playoff team, let him enjoy some postseason success, and fight for the Cup, and let us rebuild the right way. More prospects and picks our way, and and more room for our own players to have space and develop as leaders.
  11. Very sad. Grew up with his work with the Buffalo News and with the Howard Simon show on Empire Sports where he was a frequent guest. Always respected his thoughts on Buffalo sports. R.I.P.
  12. His value will never be this high either. What good does it to for a team that may be struggling in the near future to have a talent like him? By the time the rest of this team is "ready" in 2-3 years, Vanek will be past his prime and value at rock bottom. Also, if we're rebuilding, who's to say Vanek re-signs? He may hit the market and be gone without getting anything back in return.
  13. I think as someone else posted somewhere else here, i think this off-season will be big on changes. Miller, Darcy, Rolston, even RJ, and maybe even Vanek.
  14. Taking a quick peak, i feel like i have a solid chance if the Sabres only get 1 more point this season AND Hodgson scores 3 or more goals... lol ;)
  15. haha oops. Im not very good on computers, no idea how to change it. lol haha no
  16. wow that is fantastic!
  17. I may be in the minority but i have no problem with Harrington getting under his skin. Why does Harrington have to troll Rolston before we get a reaction out of him? He asked him few times about how discouraging it was allowing 5 goals in a 3 minute span and about Miller losing focus and waving to the crowd and Rolston seemed (to me) careless, like he has at each conference as Sabres coach. Where's the accountability? I wish Sabres broadcasts were like they used to be pre-Pegula because Mike Robitaille would of absolutely lost it with Rolston tonight. He has been pretty poor as of late. Maybe he has run out of gas. Other then tonight, i think his worst game as a Sabre was against Winnipeg.
  18. I was there that night as well.
  19. Yeah, his fan-boy image definetly has people speculating only in-house type moves, but if he does get Darcy Regier fired, i think he will be open to atleast interview anyone and everyone possible. Ted Black won't allow him to just hire someone based on the "Sabres" in his resume.
  20. I have to imagine, if uncle Terry's kids ever showed him this, he would get a good chuckle out of it. Classic.
  21. Pretty confident our season ends tonight. (regulation loss and we're donzo) It's been good. Onto the draft lottery...
  22. Whenever i go on a road trip to watch the Sabres play there (twice) i stay here- http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-raleigh-north_carolina-NC385 Very close to the arena. Always a ton of Sabres fans stay there. It's also very close to this bar: http://www.backyardbistro.com/menu.html Arena and bar are walking distance.
  23. Here's the exact link- http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opinion/2013/04/30-thoughts-craig-mactavish-poised-to-shake-up-oilers.html Elliott even comments on Kaleta and Myers in that link too.
