Thats the sense i get. Sabres thought the deal was done Monday evening. They went to sleep last night thinking they had a done deal. It seems to me that Babcock got the most out of Buffalo, knowing we were desperate, and then before signing the dotted line, went to Toronto and said if you can match this, im in. I truly believe he punk'd us. Plain and simple. I don't think this is the end of the world. The show must go on and time for GMTM to show his worth and conduct a real coaching search. For his sake, i hope he's been sniffing around during this period so he's not just starting from beginning.

Yeah that seems right to me. And while i do believe Babcock will decide to stay in Detroit, i think if he were to pick Buffalo (or anyone else) he would still have a meeting with Ken Holland the day before his announcement. He's been there 10 years and they are very close friends and the Red Wings have been great to Babcock throughout his tenure there. I don't think Babcock will allow them to find out the way LeBrun James made the Cavs find out that he decided to pack his bags for South beach during "the decision".

Maybe. Hopefully the Sabres have a better understanding of the situation from within though. Either way, it'd still be smart for the Sabres to stay on course by waiting for Babcock but i feel they'd also be wise if they started to look for other options as well. Unless they already have?

If we fail to land Babcock, i really think we will prioritize towards Peter DeBoer or Paul MacLean. MacLean is actually a very intriguing guy. He's always done a good job with Ottawa until this year where he had many poor decisions which finally led him to be fired. Like for example, how did Mark Stone go from a healthy scratch in games to one of the better scorers under Dave Cameron? That said, Hammond getting hot is why Ottawa made a push to the playoffs, nobody could of predicted that. I havn't seen MacLean's name mentioned with any other club yet, either.

Yeah my bad. I try to stay connected as much as possible but last week or so has been nuts, and trying to follow this Babwatch while being super busy at work has been driving me nuts. I know there is/was a guy on SabresFans who when he posts a rumor, turned out true. Basically what im saying is, i was hoping it was him who was spreading this. Sorry guys, ive been super busy so this may have been discussed. I heard theres a "in the know" guy on another forum (sabres fans i think) who claims Babcock to Buffalo is a done deal. Guess hes been right in the past. Anyone have any info on that? Im not a member there. But im sure some of you cheat on SS and frequent over there... lol

haha yeah. Milley was a pretty good AHLer though! Both Dawe and Milley must have had some clear weaknesses to their games, since both players were selected in the 2nd round.

On HNIC tonight Elliott Friedman said one of the most important factors for Babcock is to know he will have a good working relationship with the GM and the owner. I feel like that is where we have such a huge advantage over other teams now. The Pegula's are amazing people and know how to close out deals.

I know had BU been knocked out early, he wanted to get some games in before the end of the season, not only to test his worth but also knock off a year off his entry level contract. But, since he's signed after the season, it's unrealistic to think a college goaltender can jump straight to the NHL. College plays only on weekends so theres a lot of rest inbetween games. I don't see any way O'Connor doesn't start in the AHL? Same applies had he signed in Edmonton. How long he'll play in the AHL i don't know, that is all based on how he plays and how the goalie situation is in Ottawa.

Why two? That seems like a wild assumption. O'Connor to AHL. Two of Lehner, Anderson and Hammond in Ottawa. One of them traded. My guess only Lehner traded. And i'm sure Buffalo will be in that discussion.

They got lucky. I personally had no issues with McDavid playing here, but i also dont have issues with Oilers twitter giving McDavid updates. Everyone knows who they're drafting, so i don't see a problem with it. I just think its funny that people can hate on the Oilers talking about McDavid on a social media account, while our own team brought the player in for a game and interviews with media and local stations.
