Yeah, that seems about right. Not sure why people keep putting his name down as a centerpiece of big deals? Other then they don't value Grigo much either, and think they can get some gold by sending our trash the other way?

ESPN broadcasting hockey again: World Cup of Hockey
Two or less replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
This is the only World Cup of hockey thread i found so i figured i'd bring this back. Per Elliott Friedman, Kings GM Dean Lombardi will be named the GM of team USA. -
That would be awesome. Would take Friday off from work and have myself a long weekend... :) Also- looks like we're not the only ones that will be losing someone to the KHL this summer. NYR as well- http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/06/21/rangers-rfa-klingberg-heads-to-khl/

I wonder what the asking price would be?
-
I think trading for John Gibson this summer is a pipe dream, though. The Ducks don't need to move any of their two goalies until next summer since both have contracts for next season. I think the only way the Ducks move one of them this summer is if they get blown away with an offer, and no way GMTM is blowing anyone out for a goaltender.
-
That's the kind of trade i'd want to see. Sacrifice the 31st pick in order to move up and pick someone they're high on. Quality over quantity.
-
I totally agree. With the reported price that it would cost to get Sharp or Kessel just seems incredibly high for a team that i think most of us can agree would peak at around 85 points next season. I am not sure what the price on Okposo would be, but i agree with Elliott Friedman who said today that a lot of the times teams put players as "available" as a way to test their value around the league. And if theres a crazy team that is willing to over pay, you truly consider it. I think staying with the blueprint is the way to go. Theres a kid in this draft Brock Boeser that reminds scouts of Kyle Okposo. Has similar playing style. That seems like it makes no sense to me at this point of where the Sabres are at.
-
I don't think he drops out of the top 10. If so, and he's picked in the top-10, im sure atleast one of the teams in 3-5 had a conversation about him. Unless you're a scout and know for sure... ? Where do you project Connor to go?
-
What the hell are you talking about? I know he was talking about Kyle Connor and so was I.
-
Better then Connor? Based on what? Meier has a lot of inconsistency issues. This past season, which he broke out, he played mostly with Ehlers as a linemate. His skating is below average and hes made huge improvements in his skating in the last year or so. I do like Meier better then Harkins though just based on potential as Meier can be a star if he pans out while Harkins probably caps out at a Bryan Little type career. But better then Connor? I think he's a top 5 player in this draft. Great skater, excellent without the puck, killed it in interviews during the combine per scouts, and has elite offensive potential. He's a star. If he drops outside of top 5, i dont think he would fall much further down.
-
Right. That and Grigorenko would of probably returned too if he had any value to the team. Sabres will give him only a qualify offer and he'd sign it and be at same point next season, with hopefully more leverage. He hasn't earned any type of multi-year contract yet. In the KHL, they can offer him more immediate money.

I thought they were skipping a day for marketing, because they wanted the finals to be on HNIC regular night, which is Saturday night.

Interesting. But he did score 15 goals as a rookie in the AHL, that's pretty impressive for a guy of his age to do.
-
Exactly. Grigorenko has a lot of talent, just needs to develop it. Vladamir Tarasenko played in the KHL before coming to the NHL. If Grigorenko were to stay in the NHL, he'd need to be with Buffalo where there is no room for him. So, as a result they would need to move him to the wing or possibly use him as a 4th line center which would do nothing for his development. Or, they could send him down to Rochester and risk some "tanking" team from picking him up on waivers, which from the comments Tim Murray just recently made with WGR, sounds like he is worried about that.

I remember Ted Black was on WGR few weeks ago and confirmed it. He said though, when they bid for it they knew there wouldn't be any fan interaction but will be working with the league this year to see what and where they can add fan interaction in the future. Buffalo also is host in 2016.

The thing is, many great coaches got fired and re-hired throughout history. We'll have to wait and see how Bylsma works out, but i think it's very encouraging that despite sitting out the season, he was still trying to better himself. I read an article on NHL.com, where he says he has become a student of the game. Trying to figure out new ways for not only offense but how to combat opponents. He says he would watch like 2-3 games per game. Usually would DVR games at night and watch them in the morning.

Seems legit.

This is too cool. Wasn't expecting one of my favorite twitter follows/reporters to post on Sabrespace. haha Welcome to SS, Mr Wawrow!
-
They nearly promoted him earlier in the year instead of Dave Cameron. If he coaches in the AHL, it'll be with Bingo. Can't believe some even think otherwise?
-
Theres about a zero percentage chance he takes a lateral job with a different organization. Maybe theres a scenario out there for him to come along to Buffalo as someones assistant coach, i don't know. But as an Amerks coach? No.
-
Rolston has been in Rochester many times scouting.
-
Lots of coaches left. Bylsma, Boucher, Richardson, MacLean, De Boer, Cunnyworth, Dineen - and i'm sure i missed a few.
