Havn't been this excited for a Sabres game in a very long time. After cheering for the team to lose to better themselves, it just feels so good to actually go with some kind of expectations and the "tank" being over. Can't wait to chant Lets Go Buffalo tonight! That said, i think our defense will give us some problems and i think Lehner will show some rust, but Sabres come out on top. 5-3 Sabres!

Was just wondering, if there was anyway of us moving the Gold draft a little later at night? It's currently set for 7:30pm. Even moving it to 8pm would be a huge help. I'm a season tix holder for the Bills and i usually arrive back in Rochester around 730. If not, no biggy. -

You might be thinking of the wrong guy? Kevin de Bruyne is not a CF. He plays primary on the wing and CAM. Last season for Wolfsburg, he played mostly CAM but did play a few times RM or LM. Thats where he is mostly used on Belgium NT. They will NOT ever use him as a CDM, as he plays zero defense. He is a horrific defender and if he loses the ball he checks out of the play. That will be the big question about him in England. With Wolfsburg, his defensive liability only really effected him vs. Bayern Munich but it was okay as Bayern was always expected to beat them. In the PL, there are several teams and he can get exposed fairly quickly. I am not sure he can be successful for a club such as Man City but i guess we will find out. -
UPDATED: Sabres sign 2 yr Deal w/Cody Franson

Same. Small example size but his advanced stats are pretty solid. Essp for a guy who was just starting his NHL career. I feel good about Pysyk being a top contributor for the Sabres and having a solid season as early as next season. -
Class of 2005 here.... holla!! Man, time flies when you're having fun. The best web site i've been part of. Thanks for all you've done, SS! Cheers

As long as theres no long term, i wouldn't give either of those two guys more then two years, then who really cares about the money? If Oduya is their top target, offer him $5mil per for 2 seasons and let's go.

This pick interests me because from the angle of thinking he was picked from by the Sabres. I also know nothing about him. But he's 20 years old and according to Greg Joyce, he's going to UMass-Amherst for probably only 2 years and then turning pro. The Sabres felt, in 2 years, he would of been one of the most coveted college UFA's, so they decided to just take the risk and draft him now. Joyce believes Chukarov wanted to go undrafted so in 2 years he would of been able to pick and choose. But Sabres liked the potential too much. That's outside the box thinking, and i like it for a selection in the 7th round.

I've never been the biggest Weber fan but i feel like he's gotten better. He's played over 300 NHL games in his career and I would like to see what he can do with a defensive coach such as Terry Murray and also Dan Bylsma before counting him out. I feel like he may be a guy Bylsma likes to use.

Ryan O'Reilly and Jamie McGinn traded to Sabres

I wish WGR or one of the news stations could grab a Sabres player, whose been here for much of the "suffering" such as Ennis or Weber and ask them what they are feeling now. The fans are thrilled. We embraced the tank and it's coming full circle but i have to think that guys like Ennis, Weber and even to a lesser extend Moulson gotta be thinking they're on cloud 9 right now. -
I'd love to see Sekera back here. I thought he played well under Lindy Ruff, but he really excelled in Carolina and Los Angeles.

Where did Mike Weber go?

Murray has traded a lot of assets in a very short period of time

The Sabres are not trading away assets for a quick run. They are not going out and getting guys like Patrick Sharp or Eric Staal. They are getting guys who are young and can grow together for the foreseeable future. Also, the Sabres have 11 draft picks in the 2016 draft. They can move a few of those and move up and get guys they really want. We're heavily focused on scouting and drafting, so we just have to hope they find some gems along the way. They have a ton of picks still coming. Two second round picks in 2017 as well. -
Im not a fan of where you placed some of the guys, such as Dupuy above Cornel? Also, wheres Will Borgen?

WOW!!!!! WHat a day. -
Bruins trade Dougie Hamilton to Calgary. Waiting on what goes back to Boston. But wow
-
lol yeah those guys are brutal.
-
Huh? They send out the trade alert text at 9:56am and it's all they've talked about on hockey hotline.
-
Buzz kill. I expected GMTM to do better then that. A goalie who was thrown to the curb by his club traded for a 1st round pick AND we take on $3mil price tag of Legwand? No prospects or picks coming our way? Seems very bizarre.

Cant even imagine the package it would take to land Duchene. 21st, Reinhart and Zadorov?

Good call on Stephens. I like him a lot as well and each time ive read about him, theres people praising his compete and competitiveness levels. Guys i like at 51- Christian Fischer (6'1) RW. Committed to Notre Dame. High IQ player. Good all-around game. Thomas Novak (6'0) a playmaking center. Committed to Minnesota. Great skater. Ive heard scouts say the only thing that can hold him back from being a star is size and strength. GMTM has mentioned several times he likes the college route for some players bc it allows you more time in the gym, ect. Also, for defense, Travis Dermott, played at Erie last season. He's smallish but a smart player. Can be a PPQB. Also ive liked Vince Dunn and Rasmus Andersson a lot too. Beyond the 4th and beyond- A name to watch is Tristen Pfeifer. This kid dominated the leagues in Arizona. He finally went to Canada and Everett (WHL) last year and was able to play with better competition and still played real well there. Has offensive upside but is more of a stay at home. Great skater. He's a big kid (6'4). He logged much of his minutes in the WHL vs. opponent top lines and saw tons of PK time. Impressive how quickly he adapted from his league in Arizona to the WHL. Still raw but huge potential. I also like Andrew Nielsen. Another big (6'3) d-men, great skater, two way, good puck moving, smart kid. Ales Stezka looks like a big time goalie. He's 6'3 and really well positioned. Ive heard a scout say he has the potential of ending up being the best goalie in this draft. Other guys i like, Felix Sandstrom (Sweden, G). He is actually teammates with last years Sabres goalie pick Johansson. His movement is great. He had a poor U18 tournament, thus dropped like a rock in ratings. Had he had a good U18, he would of been maybe the second goalie taken in this draft after Samsonov. Pius Suter i think is a mega sleeper in this draft. A small player (listed 5'11) but people say hes smaller. Hard worker, gamer, high compete level. Swiss player just scored 43 goals for the OHL champions. I also like Chase Pearson a lot. 6'2, son of former Sabres Scott Pearson. Hard worker, smart player, loves to play physical. He was on hockey hotline and was interviewed by Brian Duff on sabres.com, in both he sounded great i thought. He's comitted to play at University of Maine next year.
