I agree with everything you said. I also thought Johnson was skating really well. And seemed like he really looking to shoot more often. Helenius looked good off the puck, looked good keeping possession. What impressed me most about him was he was tossed easily twice, on his first shift and then late in the first, very easily, and he got up and adjusted really well rest of the game. Komarov i was uncertain about. Surely he had moments but also felt like he was a bit of a turnover machine. One turnover led to a big chance for Columbus. When he wasn't turning the puck over he did look promising though. Also wanted to give a stick tap to Tullio and Cheveldayoff. They were constantly annoying Columbus during the play, but also after every whistle it seemed like they were involved in something. Cheveldayoff fought and the 2nd fight of the night by #65 Bodin which came at the end of the shift when Tullio was involved in some rough play as well, which resulted in Bodin fighting. Not sure how much skill/impact they can bring to Rochester even on 4th line and penalty kill, but they certainly bring a edge and sandpaper to that lineup.

Don't think they're gonna put Kulich on the fourth line, he looked powerful today but besides that is not his game, i think Lindy would know it's better to play top line minutes and PP in the AHL then play a handful of minutes on the fourth line.

I was reading Eliteprospects "rinkside" and i thought it was interesting they have Ryerson Leenders listed as the 6th best Sabres prospect. They don't have any of the current NHLers eligible though.

I was bored last week and watched every available game of the Hlinka-Gretzky tournament. I'm as ready as ever for the draft. A lot of the top players projected here did not play though. Players that stood out to me- Matthew Schaefer, who's listed high on the projected list. He was one of the top players for Canada. Really liked Cameron Schmidt, tiny player but electric. Always moving and is everywhere. Reminded me of Logan Stankoven. Jakob Ihs-Wozniak was impressive for Sweden. Big body, smart player, quick release. My favorite player in this tournament was Adam Benak, also tiny, but he was everywhere. Cole Caufield vibes. Max Westergard for Finland was a nice player despite Finland having a really terrible team. He wasnt afriad to play physical, went to the net, nice shot, high compete. The best player on team USA i thought was #22 center Matthew Lansing who is actually from Buffalo. Hard working player, plays both ends, seems like a Ryan Callahan type of player.

2026 draft has several big time talents. McKenna will go first, but picks 2 and 3 are likely to be super stars as well. Stacked draft. Wonder if some teams start to "rebuild" if they start off slow this season and make some players available to position themselves nicely for 2026?

I agree. Because Rivet slipped that one time and went on a huge rant about Skinner and the song he picked. Usually he just attacks him for on-ice, being soft, not playing a team game, not defending, lazy, ect. But that one time he just blasted him about the music choice. You could tell theres something there between them.

I don't get this. Berube is gonna make them not be soft? He's gonna teach Power he can play physical in front of the net? He's gonna teach these guys to go to the front of the net? They all already know this, probably is, most of them don't play that style. No coach is going to turn the softest team in the league into smash mouth hockey. Just doesn't happen. They need to begin removing some of the soft guys and replacing them with some guys with some bite and sandpaper to their game.

I know Petey mentioned Gibson on his podcast today which is why i think you brought it up here. I'm watching the Ducks Oilers game tonight and Gibson left after the 2nd period. Lukas Dostal came in the 3rd and Sportsnet reported during the game that Gibson is out for the game with a lower-body injury fwiw.

Lukas Rousek has gone pointless last 2 games but he got atleast a point in his previous 13 games (4g, 10a). He’s been playing well. As has Biro. I'm guessing one of those two will be in Buffalo next week once Quinn is placed on IR.

I love this player. We have the assets to be able to get him. Not sure what the price would be but hopefully hes a player they are after if Columbus makes him available.
