  1. I thought his work has dropped lately so the last 2 years or so i barely read his work, but for the previous 7 years or so he was a main go to for my reading. I wonder where he is going to now? The Athletic?
  2. In. Ubkev - thanks for stepping up and taking charge! Much appreciated
  3. We really need to get gold started soon. Nine days until the season.
  4. Goalie change- #32 Adam Wilcox is in.
  5. Maybe not even from the get-go but i hope eventually they make their own set for Sabres broadcasts and not just everyone use the studio Peters/Rivet and Murphy/Jones use daily.
  6. Remember when Kevin Sylvester said it was a done deal, they were just waiting for September? I can't wait until he signs, and he says told ya so. haha nice! Glad to see Jack getting the exposure.
  7. Both of you are crazy.
  8. hahahaha when i saw this topic, i figured this was what it was about as it was brought up last night in the GDT, and i came in to say just that. He doesn't really bother me too much, i don't think hes the leagues worst and as a sideline reporter i think he does excellent, his PBP drops off a bit, but i get so annoyed with the "Scores" call! Made me laugh,
  9. If we're drafting top 5 then something horrible happened and we're in big trouble as an organization.
  10. Housley said after the game that they have yet to work on the PP and been focusing on EV. Which makes sense why the PP looked so flat. As for all the slashing penalties, the Vegas game had 17 PP in the game. It's expected there to be a increase of PPs at the start of the season until players figure it out and the referees start to put the whistle away, but that could benefit strong PP teams getting off to a hot start.
  11. Smart. It was cool having Duffer and May on the road but it really limited their postgame coverage. Based on what Marty said on WGR few weeks ago, they will try to make the postgame shows more educational and break games down more and doing it from Buffalo makes more sense IMO as they have all the resources available and dont have to rush and catch the plane.
  12. lol yeah... it's that whole "gotta earn it" old school hockey mindset. I personally never liked it, and happy that someone knew to the organization felt it wasn't needed too.
  13. Just basing it on Justin Bailey's story. He said he was sitting watching tv one day and received a text asking if he had a choice to switch numbers, would he do it or nah and if so, to what #? Bailey thought nothing of it and gave them a legit reply and said yeah, 95. And then said okay, we'll see what we can do and few days later they approved everything. Bailey said he wasn't sure why they decided to text him when they did but thinks the new regime wants it's players to have more personality and freedom. So, it's possible Rip send that text message out, but anyone here will know that is a very unlikely scenario. haha
  14. Don't think it was Rip's call.
  15. Havn't heard anything, but i hope this is a thing again this season.
  16. Not only was he still playing, but he was the captain of the Calder Cup champions season. Obviously things could change, but i'm thinking Guhle has himself a partner for Rochester.
  17. Happy birthday! Wishing you all the best SDS!
  18. Pitt outshot the Sabres 51-26. Yikes. Shouldn't be much of a surprise though, as Pitt has a older roster with many college signings included.
  19. Jason Botterill was on WGR during intermission of tonights game and gave an update on Eichel - Link- http://www.wgr550.com/articles/news/botterill-says-hes-trying-do-eichel-extension-now
  20. I thought the best player was CJ Smith. A goal and two assists but he was setting up all night long. He made that nice nifty pass to Bailey on the first breakaway he had but ended up missing. I wasn't very impressed with Baptiste. He just turns the puck over too much and doesn't do much to win the puck back. I thought Bailey did well. A player who impressed with on defense was Florentino. I thought he moved the puck well and defended well. One time he messed up and was put in a poor situation but did a great job backchecking and causing a turnover before the puck handler could get the puck on net. Major props to Alvin Atwal for stepping up for Fasching. I loved it when he skated towards the penalty box and the fans gave him a standing ovation he had a huge smile on his face. I had to google him on eliteprospects.com after the game to really know who he was, prior to the game all i knew about him was that he was here on a tryout and his resume isn't all that impressive, so i am not sure he'll ever make it past the ECHL but i'd say tonight will be a night he won't forget for a long time. The worst player tonight IMO was Martin. Multiple elementary level turnovers. He just seemed out of it. The two bonehead turnovers just in front of the net wasn't the only times he looked lost either. I also wasn't impressed with him. I did think the goal he scored was nice. He was crosschecked several times by one of the Bruins top prospects Jakub Zboril on his way to the net and fought through it and got into a good spot and scored. But besides that he was not very impressive to me. Paul Hamilton this week on WGR said Karabacek and Eric Cornel are fighting for their professional careers this season and its make it or break it for them and i just don't like his odds. Its only one game but he doesnt seem to have improved any from what ive seen in the past from him.
  21. The Athletic is taking over. I actually subscribed not too long ago as well and really enjoy it. It's not that expensive and if you enjoy it, it really is pretty cheap. Today i subscribed to the BN Blitz. I think it's a pretty good idea. They seem to have some big plans with it. I'll give it a try. And not all of their reporters are trash... i saw people mention Sully, but Vic Carucci, Jay Skurski and Chris Trapasso are pretty good.
