  1. Didn’t the Sens make a big deal about getting a lesser package and not sending Mike Hoffman within the division? But trading Karlsson within the division is no big deal? Interesting.
  2. Jordan Nolan signs with St Louis.
  3. If they can’t make the lineup for a team who just finished 31st in the NHL, I don’t think we’d have to worry about anyone poaching them to be honest. Similar to Pominville being send down and passing waivers in 2005.
  4. And they are the front runners to land Jack Hughes... ?
  5. I'm a big believer in player development as well. I also think that you can ruin a player if you misuse him, in our example i think Grigorenko and now Nylander may be cases of that. Once a player is derailed by a club, i think it takes a lot of work and determination from the player to get back on track. I think thats why it's good for a player to be traded sometimes because its a fresh start for the player and a renewed hope and new inspiration. Former Sabres forward Dale Hawerchuk, now the head coach of the Barrie Colts, talked about the importance of junior hockey on guys like Mark Scheifele and i believe it: Link- https://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/mark-scheifele-dale-hawerchuk-winnipeg-jets-1.4666381 Not all players are build the same or develop the same, but i do believe this to be the case for most players. Another reason why I was happy Cliff Pu remained in junior hockey last year and now i hope he spends a good portion in Rochester.
  6. Of course i could be wrong, but no, i don't think Eichel could be the problem at all. I think when the team loses a lot, people always try to search for answers and often times look at the star players and try to connect any dots they can find and hope it matches with their agenda. Like some of the posters here have said, Paul Hamilton and Mike Harrington have both referenced how he has matured as a player. It's well chronicled how he and Sam Reinhart are best buds. He lived with Matt Moulson and i recall hearing that Jack still keeps communication with Moulson even after he was loaned out to Cali in the AHL. Eichel also took Casey Mittelstadt out to lunch when he first arrived to town and also called Rasmus Dahlin as soon as he was drafted. On top of all that, Evander Kane called him "a great young leader" in a piece he did recently for the Players Tribune. I may be missing something, but nothing adds up about Eichel being part of the problem.
  7. Where's Wilson? He is surely going to be on the opening night roster.
  8. Doesn't look good for Uruguay to have Cavani vs. France. Huge loss there.
  9. This seemed to be under the radar but Sislo was a UFA and has signed with the Islanders. Pretty odd to trade the rights of a UFA?
  10. I've never played football with you guys, i've only done hockey to this point but this season i meant to ask if there was a spot if i could join football? Then i saw this thread with people asking to join as well. haha
  11. Like him or hate him, whatever, but his story in the Athletic on Andrew Oglevie was outstanding. Same, i'm a subscriber to both.
  12. I think this is a underrated loss for the Amerks. They'll miss him more then Seth Griffith. Best of luck to him though.
  13. They'll have to trade either Tyler Johnson or Ondrej Palat. I think the market would be pretty high for either of those guys.
  14. I just saw him on the ice yesterday. He looked good.
  15. I like this trade a lot to be honest. Thompson to me is a very intriguing player. I wanted Thomas or Kyrou more, but neither of them are a sure thing anyways. The Blues actually traded up to trade Thompson 26th overall in 2016, and then selected Kyrou with the 35th pick. They were very high on Thompson too. I like Berglund and Sobotka as well. I think Berglund will be one of the more popular players in Buffalo as long as he doesn't go full out Moulson and completely stops skating or scoring goals. He is a teammates best friend, great guy in the locker room and a very great off the ice guy. He's a guy that Buffalo can love. Sobotka is a good energy guy, solid speed, good face offs and occasional goal scorer. Someone wrote we're taking on guys that nobody wants but he's a pretty decent bottom six guy. Theres probably a lot of good bottom six guys in the NHL but our bottom six has been one of the leagues worst for years so, adding him will help. I can't imagine the moves are done, though. Botterill said multiple times they want to add speed to the lineup and i think we're still far away from accomplishing that. But overall, thumbs up to Botterill and his team of scouts.
  16. They also got rid of Lehner.
  17. Damn, CallawaySabres, props on the leak. Huge respect for getting the info and running to your friends on SS to share it.
  18. Wasn't sure where to post it as we didn't have a running fantasy thread this season but i just wanted to take a minute a congratulate Captain Morgan on beating me and winning the SabresSpaceGold fantasy hockey league title. You were the highest ranked team all season and deserved this title. It was an awesome season and already looking forward to next season. Thought i could push my luck one more week as my team has been 7-1-1 in last 9 weeks.
  19. Friedman suggested the Sabres could move him at the deadline and im not sure if it was him or someone else who suggested Winnipeg as a destination bc Paul Maurice was his ex-coach in the KHL, but if there was interested in him as a depth d-men and Sabres chose not to move him, why would they just not qualify him? Maybe he still bolts for the KHL but i don't see a reason why Sabres wouldn't qualify him?
  20. Awesome goal. Makes me feel real old though seeing JS Giguere's daughter scoring game winners in college. I grew up watching Jiggy. haha
  21. Not much to add to the topic thats not been already said, but wanted to say its cool seeing Slava get a lot of hits on this "story". He used to live in Rochester and is a big Sabres fan. He was my goalie back in my outdoor soccer days.
  22. On the 31 thoughts podcast with Elliott Friedman and Jeff Marek, Elliott said he doesn't think he will be in a rush to make a decision and will go into the summer deciding if he should return to school or not. Around the 1hr 03min mark on the podcast when they begin talking about the Sabres. Elliott said he should have more on it next week in his 31 thoughts column.
  23. Thats interesting. I'm almost certain it was you who posted that Greeley was just at their game last night.
  24. Bradley Gelber (who?) says teams are calling for a Kane/Pouliot package. Hearing talk that teams have been calling about acquiring both Evander Kane & Benoit Pouliot together... Monday should be interesting. https://twitter.com/hashtag/Sabres?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw — Bradley Gelber (@BradleyGelber) https://twitter.com/BradleyGelber/status/966504581424467968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
