I fail to see how you came to this conclusion so quickly? Pilut was pretty much a point a game player in the AHL and was a +22 in his first season in North America, which some players it takes some adjustment. He was okay with Buffalo considering he made his NHL debut on one of the worst teams in the league and a team that was a dumpster fire for much of the second part of last season. I don't think anyone has a good handle on how good he could still be but i think it's way too early to count him out. I would rather have him over Scandella right now though. As for the Skinner line, so much talk is about moving Sobotka away from that line and i completely agree with that, but they may need to look for a new center for that line too. Johansson has been awful at the faceoff circle this season, as many of the people on here assumed when Kreuger announced he would play center instead of wing, but Johansson is 10-38 at faceoffs this season.

This is where i stand as well. I do like ERod, but i'm not going to say the guy is a game changer for us or any hockey club, but i would prefer him over Sobotka, Larsson or Okposo. Granted, Larsson and KO have played well so far this season, but i'm sure neither of those will sustain that type of play.

How come the NYR have the entire week off? They played Saturday night and theyre off for a full week. That seems wacky.

Last night was super fun. Maybe the most fun ive had at a Sabres game since we had Briere and Drury on the ice. The thing that makes it so difficult to buy in right now, is how pessimistic most fans were and how down on the Sabres the media was and the two games this team has played it seems like its a brand new team. It's almost like Kreuger is a miracle worker based on how he has this team playing. Which just doesn't seem sustainable. Guys like Scandella and Larsson are looking excellent through the naked eye or the fancy stats. For example, a bad game tomorrow against a winnable opponent and then back on home ice vs. Carey Price and just like that this train could be derailed quickly. I completely bought in last season during the 10-game win streak so i'm trying to be a bit more grounded this time. And i feel like we got outplayed almost each game during that streak, while we've crushed both our opponents so far this season. Anyhow, i can't wait for tomorrow!

Thats asinine if that is true about the Sabres store no longer getting anymore in because i know quite a lot of people who are going in the next few games and saying they will be picking one up then. Luckily for me, i bought mine (Dahlin) last night, but thats crazy if true. Too bad.

I feel like Kreuger isn't the only one who doesn't think of it as lines 1-4. Paul Hamilton mentions this point over and over again on WGR.

I went to work a bit late today and i listen to WGR literally all day long, and i heard this on my way to work. My jaw dropped. My thoughts and prayers are with Jeremy, his wife and their entire family. So sad. I don't know Jeremy beyond his voice on the radio but that was tough to take this morning.

Theres been a lot of positives posted in here about the game, but i think we're forgetting that we played mostly our opening night lineup in the 5th pre-season game while most of the CBJ was their AHL club. Kreuger tried to give the guys a pass by saying well they started poor but atleast they found a way to win... i'm not so sure. It looked like a tough fought victory that took overtime to get it done on home ice against a team with more then half of them won't be on NHL ice come next Wednesday.

Very interesting article. I enjoyed it. Living that time in Sabres history was pretty crazy, it was before social media really took off and all the breaking news still came from newspapers and digging deep on the internet. I remember waking up early to tune into Howard Simon and Jeremy White on wgr to hear if they had any new info. The article states they rejected a offer from a Canadian businessman, but didn't list who. Are we to assume thats the Jim Balsillie deal? If it is, why not just say it?
