  1. It's not an effort to use a non-offensive label. It becomes an effort when every other word is deemed offensive in the name of political correctness.
  2. Why is 'hermaphrodite' considered offensive? Where do we draw the line? Is it considered ignorant if somebody can't keep up with the new label of the day? This seems like it could be a decent discussion, if kept civil. I don't feel comfortable derailing the Olympics thread. Mods, feel free to move those posts over to here if you like.
  3. If you're a hermaphrodite, and I call you a hermaphrodite...................... how did I do anything offensive? Hermaphrodite is a scientific term. Was there intent? Is it considered offensive because you, as the hermaphrodite, considers it offensive? If so, how come it's perfectly OK to offend me with insults? Funny how people can cherry pick what's offensive, but when they do it it's perfectly OK. What's next, is homosapien going to be considered offensive because it has the prefix h0m0- in it? There's enough hypocrisy in here to suffocate a panintergender.
  4. Nice! I've got an X-Caliber too. Love it!
  5. Well Hoss, I don't think 'hermaphrodite' is offensive either. It takes two to offend. If there isn't malicious intent on one side to offend, then that person isn't doing wrong in their mind. However, you and We've have noted that if one person finds something offensive the other should go out of their way to avoid offending even if you don't think it's offensive. I thought the bolded was offensive regardless of your intent. Note, I wasn't offended..... I just think they're offensive and hypocritical. You think the rules you expect others to live by don't apply to you. And that's OK, just man up and admit it. Have a great afternoon, Hoss. Sorry to everybody for hijacking a thread. I'll PM Hoss so we can continue our conversation privately.
  6. Hoss, if you want to have a productive conversation, you should probably refrain from comments like these. If you're going to tell people how to express themselves and how to act on a public forum, you should probably look in the mirror because you are the most guilty of them all. The politically correct left are often the most guilty of their own manufactured sins.
  7. I suppose we could take this to the Veesee thread. But seriously, I'd love to hear your answers Hoss. You tend to disappear when called out on your actions and I'd just like to give you the opportunity to defend yourself. I have no problem with you insulting me, if you had just left it at that. I can take it. I just don't like being insulted by somebody that just finished telling me that I need to be more tolerant and empathetic. You can PM me if you like. Now back to your regularly scheduled program of gold medal games.
  8. I don't actually believe I was, nor do I offend anybody either. But, you did. See how that works? We've didn't answer your question. He summed up your feelings. The questions I asked were directed at you, personally. Why do you think it's OK to offend people directly just as long as you're not offending a group all while preaching tolerance and empathy? Why do you feel you can draw a line as to where you can offend, but I can't?
  9. You have a great knack to get a point across much more simply than I did. I've had a long weekend and didn't get to sleep until 7:30 this morning. Forgive me for not being able to keep pace on your level today. ;)
  10. I don't feel entitled to offend anybody. Have you seen me go out of my way to offend people on this board? You might not agree with my viewpoints, which some might take as offensive, but do I regularly offend others? People love to throw that term 'ignorance' around without using it correctly. I'm very well aware of the situation and trend of everybody wanting their own special label. That doesn't make me ignorant. Nor does it make me lazy because I don't think it's important to keep up on them all. I prioritize, and memorizing the labels of every "special" person out there who I will probably never come across (and if I did, the need to address them by their label will most likely never come up) is not a priority. But I have a question to ask you, and I'd love for you to answer. You frequently tell me how much more tolerant I need to be, how much more accepting I need to be (which is ironic in itself because I live in one of the most diverse regions in the world and Miami is one of my favorite places)........... yet you just openly admitted that it's OK to offend me just because you're not offending a race or general demographic by doing so. If you're so PC, and love to show us all how accepting and open-minded you are, why is it you need to go out of your way to try and offend me at all? Hell, I don't even do that and I'm supposedly the offensive one. Why is it OK for you to draw a line, but I can't? I look forward to your answers.
  11. Funny part about it is, your post is just as offensive as the word hermaphrodite. But, I guess it's different when it's your own words. If that's what you got out of my post then you either didn't take your time to read it, or I did 't explain myself well enough. Either way, political correctness is out of control whether you want to admit it or not. You are, arguably, the most politically correct poster on this forum. That's fine. But I find it odd that you have no problems insulting others who you don't agree with. Seems a tad hypocritical, don't you think? Another example of your blatant double standards.
  12. Offensive labels have malicious intent. If I call you a or a , that's an offensive label. (of course somebody will find that offensive while completely ignoring the context). Finding the use of a scientfic term is ridiculous, it's a sign of political correctness getting out of control. Many people find hermaphrodite offensive? Really? Who would that be? I would bet the majority of Americans don't even know what a hermaphrodite is, much less intersex. This creation of labels for every possible situation is getting out of hand. I've lost track and I have no intention of keeping up. I guess you can call me transintersexistphobic. I suppose if it was a black American, a I'd have to call him an African-American intersex? I suppose it's offensive of me to assume it's a he. Sorry, but it's just not offensive when somebody calls you something you don't like when most don't even know what you're supposed to be called. I'm not an offensive person, I don't go out of my way to offend. But I'm not going out of my way to keep track of every new label created by the hour.
  13. Nope, thanks though. I was just curious.
  14. Is there a site I can go to to find out what isn't offensive any more?
  15. 2020 Summer Games................ full contact gymnastics. Come on Olympics, make it happen!
  16. Psst...... http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/24128-photography-thread/
  17. I could really go for a couple of more weeks of this. The Olympics are too short. With so many events, and so many sports, I'd like to see what else they have to offer. Between what little I caught on Roku, and what NBC forces us to watch, a couple more weeks would give up viewers the chance to see more. After all the money that was spent to get ready for the Olympics, I'm sure cities wouldn't mind the extra revenue.
  18. One of these days, one of my two cats will wave back.
  19. I'd like to thank NBC for having a reporter at a Brazil gas station to describe, play-by-play, exactly what happened the night Lochte and his buds got into trouble. Because without that, I never would have been able to visualize it............ and it made the situation feel that much more dramatic.
  20. Correct. Can't be more than a couple hours old though.
  21. Beach volleyball gold medal match on now.
  22. That damn song is going to drive me nuts! And you can't get a 600SF apartment unless you make $200K a year. And that's assuming you won't need the parking space that costs $75,000. With that said, if I were rich I would most likely have a place in NYC. That's assuming I was rich enough to have at least three places. I'd put Miami's beautiful people up against LA any day!
