Trump, Clinton, Johnson and Stein........ Is this the best you can do America? For the first time in my life I may not vote.
-
And when racism exists, it's not just white against blacks and blacks feeling uncomfortable in white neighborhoods. Take a white man and have him move to a Mexican or Puerto Rican neighborhood and tell me how welcome he is. So is that racism? Or is that people wanting to be with their own kind? Is it bad that homosexuals congregate in certain neighborhoods? Matt asked a good question, define racism.
-
Yes, those are all racist. But how often does that happen? Because Trump said it, and the media replays it several times a day, doesn't mean that it is prevalent. We can all come up with some sort of racist situation(s) we've been in (maybe even We've too) but in my experience racism is negligible on a day to day basis, socially. I'm not saying that because I'm white, my non-white friends mostly say the same thing. Until I turn on the TV and it's immediately shoved down my throat.

Hoss, I'm going to start this here in regards to your last post. It's not just throwing some black officials into the mix to say 'here, have it your way'. These are elected officials, by the black community. White folk don't just add in a couple of black officials to meet some sort of quota and then blame those black officials when they don't do something constructive. I know you know that, your post was highly sarcastic (I hope). Blame needs to stop being displaced as racism by a white political structure because we all work with the same system. The blacks elected those officials, they elected primarily black politicians. They have just as much opportunity to change things as everybody else. My point is, why are we blaming white people (and labeling it as racism) for the plight of the black man? As I pointed out, a larger percentage of poverty takes place in areas run by black people. I have a question for you. How prevalent do you think racism actually is? I'm not trying to downplay anything, but is it really as much of an issue as the MSM leads you to believe? How often do you come across blatant racism? (I'm not talking about how often you come across people talking about it, or protesting......... but actual racism itself.) I keep hearing about how there is a growing problem of racism and that we're going back to pre-Civil Rights days. I've been all over the south and live in one of the most diverse areas of the nation, so my experiences range from both ends of the spectrum. I can't remember the last time I have come across a situation where I have witnessed it. The ratio of police shootings to actual police interactions is close to zero. The ratio of actual peaceful interracial interactions to aggressive racial interactions is close to zero. There are 300,000,000+ people in this country with countless interactions among races and police and the number of notable negative interactions can almost be counted by what is on TV. With the exception of having to improve our inner-city neighborhoods, do you really think there is a problem with racism? If you ask me, I think that the media fanning the flames with the select few isolated incidents that they make appear as though the sky is falling. This country is beyond leaps and bounds where we were.

If you're used to being occupied all your life, I can see how it might be tough to get used to.
-
Hoss, you know you could multi-quote me and delete the parts you individually respond to so that I can respond back, right? I'll get back to you later.
-
Ha, I figured you were. ;) With the kind of pull Jagger and Scorsese have, I can't believe they can't find somebody to pick them up for a 2nd season.

No anger here over opinions. Maybe I'm just speaking for myself, but I have way too much going on in my life right now to let a public internet forum have that much control over me.

I wasn't going to address the gorilla statement, but I'm glad you did. It's another one of his double standards, he can make all the outlandish, ridiculous and derogatory comments he wants........ but if you do it.
-
And you think this is all based on racism? These poor inner-city neighborhoods that are held back by who? The predominantly black governments that run these cities? Yes, I know addressed the fact that there isn't a single person out there that wouldn't tell you there is a responsibility on the black community to improve their situations. But this isn't about the black community, they can only do so much. It starts with the elected officials. Can't complain about not getting the chance to improve their situations, they run the cities. Most are predominantly black, if not they're highly liberal. Ask around, do some research........ blacks do better in red states so you can't blame the whites. And before you say anything about the extreme poverty in some of the deep south, those are generally small towns killed by the economy that affects all colors equally. About these racist cops that keep getting off killing black people because of corrupt laws and government officials........... do these include the black cops? Or is this another racial thing? Because if I remember correctly, it was a black cop that killed another black in Milwaukee. If I remember correctly, there were several black cops involved in the Freddie Grey case; in a city whose officials are a majority black, vast. I'm not going to carry on with more examples, I just want to know how come this always ends up being about white vs. black. Are you going to tell me now that race doesn't always play a part? Because if you do, then you're just admitting that maybe these cases really are isolated incidents and color is incidental. I respect the time you put into your response, you've obviously spent some time thinking this through. Kudos. You've also spent considerable time focusing on one side of every issue you addressed while ignoring much of the other. And that is what leads up to the problems we have today; those that want to fix the real problem aren't willing to consider the rest. I'd be more than willing to address the other sides of the issues that you overlooked, but I get the feeling at this point that you're probably sick of me.

What exactly is "a little chilly"?

Damn, look at the roll you're all on! Why didn't somebody give me a call?

Damn, why can't I play somebody that doesn't care about their team? Ha! Gotta do whatcha gotta do. B-)

I think it's time to tank for the #1 pick next year.

I wonder who Vanek has on the final.

McCoy needs to get sued every week!

And eventually we'll get into the same discussion because you'll fail to state what that is. You'll give us an impression, get called on it, and then claim to not stand by said impression. You are a confused individual.

I've got news for you, you can't riot immediately afterwards and KNOW it was, or was not justified. KNOWN? Unfair and unjustified? How many of these have been investigated, and concluded, as such? Where were you after the Freddie Gray investigation? Where were you after the Michael Brown investigation? I never saw you denounce those situations. Where were you when a black man took Dallas hostage and killed several police officers? I'm not attempting to remove your opinion. If anything you're trying to belittle me by implying what you say means nothing. I value differing opinions and beliefs. I value the diversity in this country. If none of those existed, this would be a pretty boring place. What I don't value is your blatant hypocrisy. If you would say either: -You support equality and the actions of all races to move forward and make this nation undivided. Great! or -You think blacks should be treated differently because of the actions of the past and that preferential treatment is the best means moving forward........... I would vehemently agree with you, but I would 100% support your opinion. Just don't go pretending to be all about equality and then regularly showing us you're not.
-
There's the problem. You don't denounce those standing up to stop racism in instances where you don't know if cops did anything wrong. A cop shoots a black man, the cop must be in the wrong so go ahead and riot away. You denounced white people doing something we all knew was going on. Why shouldn't you denounce blacks for similar actions until it has been investigated and that they may or may not have a reason to riot? Hoss, you have an obvious bias. I don't know why you're so afraid to admit it.
-
Would you denounce white people if they did it?
