Many people who voted for Trump, didn'tvote for Trump. They voted against the rest of the party because the candidates they put up were just more of the same and conservatives are sick of it. Trump getting elected is the best thing to happen to the Republicans in quite some time.

Because the GOP needs to become more appealing to those who aren't on the extreme right. The GOP is in such bad shape now (for the White House) that Trump beat them all. The fact that he beat them should force them to change their direction because they will need the centrist vote to become relevant again. He doesn't need to be progressive to force the party to become more progressive.

The term 'progressive' should apply to all. It shouldn't be tied to a certain party. Not all conservatives want to live in the 1800's. There exist many conservatives who wish to move forward. I never said Trump was a progressive. Try reading. Hell, it was right in the post you quoted.

Progressive doesn't need to apply to Democrats. Trump is far from progressive, but he might get the GOP to pull their heads out of their and become more progressive, and appealing to more than just those who lean extreme right.

I think a Trump presidency is exactly what the GOP needs. Every four years they keep promising to change, promising to move into the 21st century, become more progressive while keeping fiscal conservative views. Yet every four years, it never happens. Trump came through and pretty much knocked the GOP on its ass, and if there is anything that will force them to change, this is it. This country will only be better with a more progressive Republican party. Trump might be the only person to make them do it.

There's pushback, and there's vitriol. The liberal media was in full force before Bannon. There is a difference from being skeptical and outright unprofessional.

You might not have to accept it, but be a little more professional about it. The vitriol being spread by the liberal media makes FOX news jealous. They are in full attack mode and they haven't let up since. I watched Oliver's show and it was a disgrace. I'm not a liberal but I still watched his show. After his post-election show, I have no plans to watch again. I guess my point about this being a liberal board is I didn't expect anybody to support my being critical of the in-your-face liberalism over the last few years.

For some reason starting over the last couple of days, quoted posts do not show the posters name. Also, when I quote somebody I keep getting   before and after the [] and I have to delete them or else they show up in the post. Also, when I go to 'members' tab, I get this error. These all started happening at the same time and it happens using different browsers. Am I the only one having these issues?
