Gotta agree with you on that one. For whatever reason (coaching) this team rarely dominates anybody. They might dominate for a period, but then go back to the same conservative approach and get walked all over. Until this team can (is allowed to) focus on their strengths and play wider open offense (by making a coaching change) and be the team to dictate instead of being dictated, we're just going to have to get used to a win here and a loss there. Mediocrity. Maybe one of these days Goober will trust his players enough to do that. Considering he didn't trust Malkin and Crosby to do it...... I wouldn't hold my breath.

Nice.

Well, it probably would have been 1:1 if it weren't for all those rebounds he gives up.
-
Well, that'll put him in the top 5 in save percentage. Trade him while his value is high! Package him with Kane. Anybody else doing really well that needs to be moved? :D What exactly does he have to do to get support from Sabres fans?

How to Fix the D Both Short and Long-term?
JJFIVEOH replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I agree with you about Bogo. Defensemen have become given too much responsibility over the last few years with the changes in strategies, so in the rand scheme of things today's D-men rarely look perfect. I would venture to guess that every single team in th league isn't happy about some aspects of their D core. With that said, Bogo is better than people give him credit for and he would probably get top 4 minutes on almost all teams in the league. If the Sabres brought in a legitimate #2 D-man, fans would find something they don't like about him too. Re-sign Kulikov. He brings much more to the table than people think because he's been hurt all year. If there is a lack of depth, you don't let what you have get away, especially when is a young 2/3 guy............ and considering his injury this year could probably be had for cheap. -

I wouldn't trade him for a #2 defenseman. Much less 2nd pair defenseman.
-
Trade him while he's worth something, we can't have a productive player on the team .

At what point does strategy and analysis become so complicated for the player that they can no longer concentrate on their impact on the actual game? There is some level of criticism for almost every player out there, maybe they aren't excelling because they're too busy focused on doing the wrong thing. People sitting behind a computer can't decipher this stuff, what makes anybody think a player can make snap decisions based on countless advanced scenarios?

Have the Sabres thoroughly dominated any game yet this year? They must have, even the worst teams dominate a game here and there. -
No, but he's not going to get any better.

So what's Murray doing spending all this money on old man Okposo?
-
Better trade O'Reilly.

There's nothing wrong with being stacked on forwards. It creates trade potential down the road and avoids the need to fill holes. We don't have enough offense as it is, determining whether Kane should be here or not on the future of a prospect who has never played an NHL game is risky. You take what works now and deal with the potential overflow down the road. I'd love for the Sabres to be put in a situation where they might need to trade any of the top six forwards simply because there is too many to go around............ than to be sitting 8 points out of a playoff spot for another year because the forward depth wasn't addressed.

I don't care about Montreal.
-
I'll take Kane at 6 over Stafford at 4. I'll take Kane at 7 over Stafford at 4.
-
Kulkov is not healthy. He's not practicing, and won't the rest of the year. That's not healthy. Kane is Drew Stafford? Really?
-
His current level of play over the last couple of months is a 40+ goal pace. Of course he's not going to keep that up. What he will keep up is at least a 25-30 goal pace, maybe more if he's given a major role. If he can score at a 25-30 goal pace, he's equaling Okposo and he arguably brings more intangibles to the ice than Okposo. You aren't seeing what Kulikov is capable of.

All good points. I agree if he wants no part of Buffalo then work on some kind of deal. I would hope, if Murray hasn't already had talks with him, that he will and find out for sure. He's never going to be 100% healthy, it's just not the kind of game he plays. Most physical players will never be 100%. Those are higher risk players in which you take the good with the bad. His highs far outweigh his injuries. He is built for the playoffs, I want him here in the playoffs. While a fresh start might be a good move for him, will he benefit from going somewhere else? In a smaller city like Buffalo, his past might get put behind him easier than a larger city. In his defense, staying here he has the opportunity to enter his prime playing alongside Eichel. Most teams he might not have the chance to excel like he could in Buffalo. These are questions we'll never know, but I hope are addressed between Kane's agent and Murray. Absolutely.
