  1. Every Sabres fan thinks that every NHL player needs to be able to score 40 goals, get into 40 fights, get 200 hits, instigate, is 6'6" 250#, wins 60% of faceoffs AND play goal. If they can't do that then they suck and need to leave............. I'll never understand the Vanek hatred. Apparently some people don't understand the importance of role players. Vanek is one of the few Sabres who actually busts his ass every night. The reson he gets hurt so much is because by midseason like clockwork, the weight of the team is put on his back. Based on today's posts I have to wonder if some people are still drunk from last night.
  2. Would he want to come here with Miller as our goaltender? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :P But IMO, I think we're set on D. We need to worry about scoring still.
  3. Miller never took the blame for any loss UNTIL Pegula told the media his daughter would have been better in net. And the few times he did it since was done so reluctantly. But every single game he critiques his teammates and is never afraid to throw his teammates under the bus. If I had to put a ratio next to it, it's probably 50:1 the number of times he sticks it to his teammates vs. the amount of times he takes the blame for a loss. It's unfortunate that nobody in the locker room has the balls to turn the tables on Miller. It's funny all the criticism that has been thrown Roy's way for being a party boy and throwing toga parties, not to mention him being one of the core cancer players........... yet very few on here talk about Miller being a core cancer with his attitude towards his teammates. Sorry if that sounds like hatred, I'm simply recognizing the double standard. And to keep pace with the discussion, all of what I said could be a turn off to potential free agents IF in fact a potential free agent is using Miller as a deciding point on whether or not to sign with BFLO.
  4. I'm sure the way Miller openly criticizes his teammates while never taking any blame is very appealing to potential free agents.
  5. You're right, it wasn't coincidence. It was the coach, not Parise. They went 3-9-2 with him in the lineup and 35-30-3 with him out of the lineup, Including that 22-3-2 run. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here ya go guys.......... you need to come up with some fresh vocabulary that word's getting stale. http://thesaurus.com/browse/ludicrous
  6. Well, that's another discussion for another day. :P
  7. I should have worded that better. I meant I think they are in the weakest division defensively. Of coure the Rangers being an outlier, I think Philly, Pitts, and NYI are easily scored upon especially considering they play a more wide open style of offense. I don't think it's a weak divison by far, but for a scorer I think they would have more success at scoring goals than in the other 2 divisions. 10 of the top 20 goal scorers came from that divison. Hey, if it's possible to bring him in AND keep Vanek, I'd be all over it!! But I don't want it to be at the expense of being limited for further salaries down the road leading the Sabres to be a team that relies on two or three players instead of the entire team. If it's monetarily possible I say go for it!
  8. Fair enough. But I have to disagree about Parise facing tougher competition. For one, they were in the weakest division in the league. Second, it's pretty fair to say that opposing teams focus on Vanek's like as he has always been our #1 scorer. Third, Vanek faced probably the toughest competiton over the second half of the season because many of the Sabres were hurt so it was pretty much a given that if opposing teams spent more time shutting him down because we had no secondary scoring then he wasn't going to have a chance. When everybody was hurt the entire burden was placed on his shoulders and he had zero help from anybody. Case in point, until the Sabres started getting hurt Vanek had 17 goals in the first 32 games on pace to get 43. Either way, I don't see much of an advantage relative to all the hype. Vanek could easily produce like he did in the past if we get some decent secondary scoring and he gets more/better opportunities.
  9. If Parise is such a good 5V5 and two-way player who performs under pressure, why was he dead last on the team with a -8 in the playoffs this year? See, I'm just nitpicking just like Vanek haters do in order prove their hatred for him and love for every other player who isn't on the Sabres. That makes sense.
  10. Can you post up some proof of these numbers? Since you claimed both players were equal in PPG when in fact Vanek is nearly double........... I'm not sure I can take your word for it.
  11. You might want to check your stats. Vanke has nearly DOUBLE the amount of career PPG's as Parise in only 40 more games played (96-51). Vanek has a higher GPG average. Vanek had more GWG's this year than Parise even if you include playoffs. Every single stat you can think of Vanek beats Parise. It's not Vanek's fault he doesn't play on the PK. We've all seen him the few times he's been on the PK and he's pretty damn good. Plus my entire point is why is everybody looking at Parise like he's some kind of god?
  12. Seriously, what is so special about Parise? Is it because he stands out in a UFA list that is pretty weak this year? Vanek has better numbers than Parise but judging by the way people on this board talk about each player you'd never know it. I'll be glad if BFLO doesn't get him. He's not worth the $$ he's going to get.
  13. Screw that, keep Foligno and dump Miller while he still has some trade value left. Some people think he's still good, and he's only got 2 years left so 1) they won't have to worry about him being a UFA at the end of the season and 2) he doesn't have a 10 year contract to worry about. Dump Miller and keep Foligno. We're trying to keep/find guys with heart, not trade them.
  14. As much as they pander to the Golden Boy, it wouldn't surprise me.
  15. Hindsight is so convenient after the fact. I think the majority of this board was in agreement that it was a decent deal at the time. A former 35-40 goal scorer hopefully looking to get a fresh start. But yes, it did end up being a horrible trade. Boyes blames coaching but he was in a rapid decline before he got here. He just never took off like we all had hoped.
  16. I can't believe Vancouver gave Garrison that kind of contract! The dude is an undrafted D-man who had one good year. I understand players hitting the market looking for the best $$, but when you go undrafted and an NHL club gives you a shot to make the pros there has to be some kind of loyalty. I know Tallon wanted him back but I think he knew it wasn't worth the risk. I hope Garrison continues to play like he did this year, but I get a feeling he got way overpaid for way too long.
  17. Not to mention Ennis was in a contract year and didn't have enough playing time because of injuries to prove his worth. So he went balls to the wall in the short time he had. If that's the case, there's another reason why he wouldn't be to sustain that for an entire year.
  18. I think getting rid of Ennis is a stupid move no matter how you look at it. But I hope you people aren't expecting him to be the savior and answers to all of BFLO's offensive woes. So he went on a hot streak for 15-20 games. A lot of it had to do with Foligno's hot streak which a lot could be attributed to the adrenaline of being called up to the pros for the first time. All too often I've seen people get all hyped up when a player gets into a hot streak only to be disappointed. Let's give Ennis some time to see if he can back up last years performance after teams have figured out how to play him.
  19. I wouldn't do it for either.
  20. Those get funnier every time I see them.
  21. Hope they got Ovechkin's permission first.
  22. Somebody took advantage of Thursday Happy Hour.
  23. Just glancing over some of the other forums (I won't mention which ones or anything that's said, I'm sure it's against the rules... I'm not signed up for any FWIW). It's interesting to see how fans from other teams value current Sabres as opposed to what some Sabres fans think they're worth.
  24. You've conveniently avoided my point.
