Because they want to use the argument that the government is forcing them to do something. They want to have the "right" to purchase health insurance. They don't want to have to pay for somebody elses health insurance. Here's how I see this...... right now I have my own coverage and it has goen up over 150% on the last 3 years. I have yet to use it once in that period. Why has it gone up? Because people who "choose" to not have their own policy end up going to the emergency room for a life threatening situation and end up in intensive care for a month and rack up a $750,000 hospital bill. They can't pay so the hospital passes the expenses on to me when I go to the hospital in the form of a $75 aspirin, $150 jello, $1,200/day room, etc. In turn my rates go up. So basically, aren't I pay for everybody else anyways? The more rates go up, the less people are covered. It's a vicious cycle until only the richest people in the country would be able to afford insurance. The rest will go bankrupt if they ever need emergency care. I love the "freedom" argument...... people should be able to "choose" whether or not they have insurance. Those same people will tell you that insurance companies and hospitals are businesses. Well, guess what happens if an uninsured person gets into a life-threatening car accident and is transported to the hospital, the hospital is FORCED to treat them whether or not they have insurance. In the rest of the real world, this IS NOT how businesses work. If I go into Best Buy and pick out a 60" big screen and tell them I don't have money to pay for it, are they going to give me the TV? NO! I'm getting sick of my rates going up to cover for people who need emergency care because they feel it's their "right" to choose to not carry insurance. The hypocritical conservatives love to think it's a liberal agenda to make us pay for everybody else, yet indirectly I am paying for those hypocritical conservatives who choose not to have insurance. Until hospitals have the freedom to choose not to give you emergency care, nobody has the right to think I should have to pay for you because you choose not to have coverage. Until then, bring my rates back down to where they were 3 years ago and tax me instead. If the people want the government to treat hospitals and insurance companies like a business, let the hospitals turn you away if you have no coverage. It's that simple....... just like a real business. Sorry Hank, that wasn't all directed at you. :P FWIW, I am a fiscal conservative.

Actually, Fitz came back to have a pretty decent game in my opinion. Too bad too many things went wrong in a short amount of time to start the game. Let's just hope it's first game cobwebs.

Yeah, I need the stream, I live in SoFL so I can't get WGR. I think this all answers my questions. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't me. That would explain why I couldn't get WGR on my phone at the bar too. I understand the need to make money, but the more they keep limiting how much the fans can keep up with their team the less interested they're going to be.

Was that on the radio, or streaming?

Thanks. Must be a new rule, 97 Rock did it last year. I didn't get the rest of the game either. Left the sports bar after the 3rd quarter. Seems it gets worse and worse every year. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Thanks. Need to find an audio feed, if not for today (I'm sure it's done) but for the upcoming games. Not sure if WGR streaming is down or if it's just me. WJAG isn't getting it either?

OK couple of questions. Since 97 Rock isn't carrying the radio feed, who is? And who broadcasts the post game interviews and press conferences? WGR online is down, I'm not getting anything from WGR. Don't even know if they carry anything. I'm just listening to 97 Rock and all they're doing is taking phone calls.

A shortened season would suck! It's just not the same, I don't care how you look at it.

Didn't Piyush Jindal accept Stimulus funds after publicly trashing Obama for wasting tax payers money? Or is that the hypocrisy you speak of?
-
You kinda do.

I know it's the offseason and I know it's probably going to be longer than we all want, but this is getting to the point of obsession. I think I'm going to watch the televised sensationalism about this rain shower... I mean tropical storm.

It's not comparable because the Sabres don't need to be blown up. For the purpose of this discussion I will scratch that post, I don't think it's Deluca's intention to discuss whether or need they need to be blown up. I think we've beaten that dead horse enough.

Doesn't matter P-Ville doesn't hit.

Haha, you got that right.

I vowed to stay out of this thread, already failed once. The temptation is almost unbearable.

DR needs to be like the rest of the GM's and say he doesn't have time for this soap opera crap. The best solution for an attention ###### is to deny them attention. If DR isn't truly pursuing Doan or Doan really was waiting to see what comes of the ownership deal......... then I retract my statement. :flirt:

Will somebody literally give me a synopsis of the last couple of pages? I literally haven't had time to read literally any of it. You guys have literally been busy on this thread it's literally impossible to keep up if you're not at your computer literally all day. Is that ludicrous? :P

So would this be the third or fourth deadline he has set since free agency opened up? Seems to me he was supposed to decide Jul 10? Or maybe they WON'T match the offer. Just because he hasn't signed doesn't mean he's not all about the money. I think he realizes it could be months before anybody plays again and he's probably hoping a more desirable city matches it.
-
But he reads from a teleprompter.
-
I wouldn't. I'd rather have Vanek and trade for Iginla who would be even better for Vanek AND bring in leadership.
-
Vanek, Stafford and Pomnville are players we need because much as this board whines about them, they are keys to our offense, and still young. SMART moves will make them better. An overhaul isn't needed to make this team contenders. But losing you key offensive players will hurt. That Stafford/Armia question is unanswerable. Nobody knows how he will turn out and nobody knows if Stafford will return to form from two years ago now that he has supposedly put his personal issues behind him. Whether or not Tarnasky and Scott play a lot is besides the point. The point is it has been addressed and they will be used accordingly. Take my word for it, Tarnasky will play too, he can actually skate. If you want to put cap space aside, sure I'd love to have Doan. But unfortunately you can't do that and $7.5 a year is wayyyyyy too much for Doan. Sorry, I didn't see you already talked about Pronger before I posted. I do like the idea of Iginla. He satisfies more than Doan can and at a cheaper price.
-
No. I don't want to sit around for 3 years watching them completely overhaul the roster. We're in year 3 of that process down here and it ain't fun. I'd rather they take the pitch and wait for something better to swing at.
-
Pronger's cap hit isn't $7.5 mil a year either. And if he isn't able to play it won't count against the teams cap.
