  1. Congrats. Gotta be fun watching your kids do well in hockey, makes anything Sabres related secondary.

    Waive Hecht

An aging forward who was signed to almost the league minimum to fill some room. Was signed with the intention of most likely being a healthy scratch on a 100% healthy team, a guy who was kept because he was always known to be a solid, consistent defensive forward who could score an occassional goal. And yet even though his line rarely manages to score a goal, he's still a +1. On the worst defensive team in the league the opposition rarely scores when he's on the ice. Yeah, lets waive him the bum.
  3. Thanks for proving my point. The game could still have been in hand had we gone into the 3rd down 1-0. But that breakaway goal was weak, I don't care who scored it That put the nail in the coffin. That's a save an average goaltender makes much less a superstar goaltender. And it put the game out of reach. Miller would do this team a favor by asking for a trade. But it's all Hecht's fault. http://forums.sabrespace.com/topic/21697-waive-hecht/
  4. And .913 puts him where in the league? Stats can sure be deceiving when you don't include the rest of the factors, like the fact the Sabres have played 2-3 more games than the rest of the league..... Hmmmmmm I wonder where those extra saves came from. Yeah Miller made Nabokov look like a superstar last night. Know why? Because it was an equal game through almost two periods but the difference was as soon as he allowed that first goal he crumbled by allowing 3 soft ones.... I am usual. Just like I said earlier, he ruins great games by allowing a couple of soft goals and then goes in the corner and pouts with the rest of the underachievers. Had he saved the last 3 goals he allowed it might have been a different game, alas he crumbled. One by one y'all line up to make your snide comments. That's very adult of you, note I don't start it. It's OK, it's a common trait for those who know they can't support their argument. It's all good, you people keep blaming the third and fourth stringers, backups and youngsters for all these problems. Keep giving the Golden Boy the pass. You all are catching whatever Paul Hamilton has. I'm pretty sure he's pitching for a spot next to Schopp and Bulldog.
  5. Did I say that?
  6. Ahhhhh, I get it. So when Enroth went through a major losing streak last year (all while still holding decent numbers) becuase not only was the team in a complete funk and not helping, BUT half the team was also hurt............ that's all Enroth's fault and everybody and their mother loves to throw him under the bus for where we are this year. Get real with this. Our goaltender is paid to be a superstar because he wanted to be treated like a superstar and made everybody think he was a superstar. Guess what, superstars pull wins out of a hat no matter what the rest of the team does. Miller makes great saves and then offsets them with sloppy goals. I don't care how good he looks, when he ruins great games with a couple of sloppy goals, he's not doing his job and he's not pulling wins out like a superstar should. Funny how this board gives Miller a pass with his massive contract yet won't hesitate to throw the third & fourth liners, backups and youngsters under the bus for how this team has been playing............. you know, those guys who are next in line to be responsible NOT the primary ones. Sucks for you that Hamilton gets first dibs at kissing his butt being that he's first in the locker room after a game. :P
  7. :wallbash: I never said it was just about the goalie. But if guys like Hodgson, Gerbe, Enroth and Hecht are going to get lambasted on here for what's happened with this team then Miller deserves his share (IF NOT MUCH MORE) of the blame. Much less the fact that people are kissing his butt. When a team crumbles you don't look at initially look at the young guys, the third and fourth liners, the backup goaltender............... you look at the high priced "core" of your team who is supposed to carry you. Vanek has done very well, P-Ville has been OK. Who is left? Miller. If he played like a superstar goaltender and pulled out 3 of the 4 wins he could have, we'd be in #8 right now. Everybody shares the blame to an extent. But blame first gets directed towards the key players of your team who are paid to win you games when they need it. Miller hasn't done that. Instead of taking charge and standing on his head a few times to prove to everybody he's still Vezina worthy, he decided to go pout in the corner with the rest of the underachievers.
  8. Miller is paid as a superstar goaltender. Miller is expected to play like a superstar goaltender. A superstar goaltender is expected to pull games out for you that probably shouldn't have been won. There were a few games earlier this season that could have been won had we had superstar goaltending performance. He failed. 3 extra wins this year and we're in 8th place and talking about tweaks being made to move up the ladder and here we are dead last in the conference.
  9. Good luck tomorrow!
  10. He's started 20 games since his last win? You wanna recheck your stats? Have a great evening. It's been a pleasure talking to you.
  11. I don't deny it, but it goes back to my larger point that as of right now that is the least of this team's concerns (at least as far as Hogson is concerned). I can't argue that Darcy left this team is a massive hole with the center situation. However, if we went back to the offseason threads I remember many were willing to stick by that situation and accept that we would be a horrible team this year in order to let Hodgson, Ennis and Grigorenko have some time to learn and gain experience. Alas, here we are.
  12. You fail to see my point, but thanks for playing. As do you.
  13. I didn't say he wasn't a contributor to being scored on, but guess what......... most #1 scoring lines are scored on often. What really gets me is the undeserved criticism to the likes of Hodgson, Gerbe, Hecht and Enroth. When this team has hit rock bottom and there are several big name, big contract players who deserve to be dealt with much more than the four I mentioned, people are going to throw Hodgson, Enroth, Hecht and Gerbe under the bus? Are you kidding me? That's the Paul Hamilton strategy and he loves it. It's like your business losing $1.5 million in a year and you want to cut back on paper clips. If you say so. He hasn't regressed, before this year his stats were equal to or better than Miller. His bad stretch happened to be when the team took a dump and everybody was hurt. In Enroth's last 22 starts, the teams has scored more than three goals ONCE. Yes, he hasn't won much, but he hasn't played often either. You can't expect him to be half decent when he's started twice in the last 9 months. This season is shot, give him a chance to start a bunch of game. If he can't do it again like he did the first two years, fine.
  14. The had more chances than Hodgson, Vanek and P-Ville........ wasn't that bad of an idea now was it?
  15. That's not his fault. Hodgson is the last thing this team needs to worry about. The kid is one of the few bright spots we have left. I've got news for ya, when you're the worst GA team in the entire league, and you're the #1 center. that means you play the most minutes. When you play the most minutes, guess what happens.............. Keep scraping that barrel. Are you sure you're not Paul Hamilton? Lemme guess, Enroth destroyed this season, right? I noticed you didn't comment on my point that that line produced the most chances tonight.
  16. Bitch all you want about Gerbe, that line was the only thing that generated anything resembling offense the first 30 minutes and he is one of the few that seems to give a damn.
  17. Where is everybody hearing the interviews before they air on WGR??
  18. You can't possibly be serious............
  19. About 1:30 left in the game, Nobokov gloved a shot and held on for a faceoff. Rob said something to the effect of 'The Islanders have no problem taking the faceoffs in their own zone to slow the game down to keep the Sabres from gaining any momentum'. Now that was funny.
  20. Horrible HORRIBLE officiating in the Panthers-Pens game. Terrible! The league should be embarrassed.
  21. I think the standard is 4.38 weeks.
  22. Rolston is losing control of this team. Fire him!
  23. Sorry I took so long to respond, I got caught up. I'm thinking of (more than strongly considering) moving to WNC and was just looking to see if there is Sabres following. At this point I might just wing it for now because I have come to the conclusion that nobody will hire in a specialized field unless you actually live there. I've been all over western NC and Waynesville is a great town. What are the opinions of each everybody who lives there? Glad to see everyone erybody who just visited had such great times. Photography and traveling one of my personal faves.
  24. Really? Nobody?
  25. Boston is now 8-2-2.......... I will admit I have not watched the other Bruins games. But based on the 3 games against BFLO am I the only one who is not impressed? How in the hell do they have an 8-2-2 record? Much less a 7-0-2 record against the rest of the league.
