Miller starting. Everybody earns their playing time, right Ron? You idiot.... Sabres are 0-3-3 in Miller's last 6 starts and 2-0-1 in Enroth's last 3. I'd go with Miller. Literally

You mean like the Kassian for Hodgson trade? I think the Hodgson trade more than made up for any loss of offense with Roy being gone. There is no way Kassian would have matched Hodgson's output. If anything Hodgson/Ott brings more offense than Roy/Kassian.

When was the last time you heard an athlete say 'Man that guy was a real ######. Nobody liked him, everybody wished he was traded. We'd be a much better team without him'? :P The kid's 18 years old, what else do you expect him to say? Or, maybe he really did accept it and Vancouver doesn't need the cap space right now so they're putting it off until further notice. If there's no rush to get him out, better off waiting until there is a higher demand. I'm rapidly losing interest of this thread. My arms are getting tired from beating a dead horse. Thanks guys, it was fun!

We talk about what Lindy may have been like in the locker room. We talk about what Derek Roy was like in the locker room. We talk about what Miller is like in the locker room. None of us knows for sure, but for the most part we do it based on an educated observation. He is dark, smugg and very condescending and for the most part seems to think he's better than everybody else. Maybe it's just me, but for some reason I can't see Miller being anything different once the cameras are gone. Luongo has NINE years left on an inflated contract, Miller has ONE. See the difference? Plus, Luongo has accepted splitting duties with Schneider. Yet Biron's stats in BFLO are nearly identical to Miller's. I guess Miller should be a backup too.

Eric Selleck suspended an additional game after making NHL debut. http://video.nhl.com...id=60&id=224636 Selleck didn't remember a thing, he had to be helped off the ice.

If Stafford keeps playing the way he does, it would be beneficial to trade within the division. Hell, take all the guys who go through the motions and trade them within the division.
-
Actually, I think his inconsistency and insane contract is enough of a deterrent. But I see your point. ;)

Comparisons of save % of two goaltenders on the same team is relevant. Especially when one is .01 better and played the majority of his games when the team was hurt and running for the bus, while the other played the majority of his games when the team was healthy. Perhaps not, but it does show what he is capable of when he is a regular starter. THAT was the point. Every goaltender has their weaknesses. How many times a game does a team go high on Miller while he's on his knees before the shot is even taken?
-
I heard he just got an extension.

1) Eight years as a starter and 20 games is going to cut his value in half? He is a professional getting paid a ton of money, if he can't handle getting benched then maybe he shouldn't be here. His smugg attitude can't be good in the locker room to begin with. He's already a PITA in the locker room. Would you rather to continue to start him the rest of the year and then trade him leaving the team not knowing what to expect out of Enroth? 2) I can respect your opinion on that. I just happen to disagree. Putting all your eggs in 60+ game/yr starter is risky. Not sure who has a 50/50 setup, but many teams in the last decade have been very successful in the post-season without a designated 60+ game/yr starter.

Here's the way I see it. Many people think at this point that the Sabres should be evaluating our young guys by letting them play more to see what we have in store for the future. So why should that stop at the goaltender? If the Sabres go another week or two without winning many games, the season is pretty much done. If it isn't already. So I say start Enroth for 3/4 or more of the remaining games. That will give management a better handle on whether or not Enroth is ready to start, or if he's a bust. If he continues to stand on his head, who knows, maybe the rest of the season can be interesting as far as a playoff run. If he fails, then we can get what everybody wants, a high draft pick. If Miller doesn't like sitting and wants out of BFLO, maybe he would open up his trade clause to include more teams making it easier to trade him. At this point there is nothing to lose. Alas, this is all meaningless. Rolston doesn't have the stones to start Enroth next game even though the team is 2-0-1 in his last three starts and 0-3-3 in Miller's last 5 starts. Miller will end up starting, they'll lose 5-2 to the Leafs and it won't be his fault because the rest of the team sucked in front of him. I'd love nothing more than to have two golatenders who can split duties. In my opinion that is the ultimate combination. Ride the hot goalie, when he gets cold go to the other guy. By not having a designated starter, it only increases competition and makes them play better. Yes, I'd love to have another quality goaltender to compete with him.

If he can't handle the job, fine. I'll admit he shouldn't be a starter. But what is foolish is to assume he can't handle the job while not giving him a chance.
-
I would answer but you wouldn't believe me anyways. ;)

I've got news for you. Most goaltenders can play 70+ games, Miller isn't exactly the perfect physical. Most teams have a coach that gives their backups more playing time. Most teams aren't married to their Wonder Boy. Again, quantity does not equal quality. Miller is consistently outside the top 15 in GAA and save %. Numbers don't lie, I don't care how much he plays. And his attitude sucks, we haven't talked about that today. Only way to do that is by giving him the opportunity. This season is done, now is the perfect time. As I mentioned, the last time Enroth was given a chance to start a bunch of games with a fairly healthy team, he carried them to the playoffs.
-
It would be so much easier if more people could accept that.
-
I rest my case.
-
1) It is however a relevant comparison. 2) Only thing that proves there is Miller was given ample time to get into game shape when Enroth sat for weeks. 3) He hasn't been given the opportunity the last two years. The last time he was given a decent stretch of starts I believe he carried this team to the playoffs.
-
And he's only managed to finish in the top 8 in save % one time in his career? Longevity does not equal quality.

Staph gets slammed for his lack of performance in conjunction with his inflated contract. Myers gets slammed for his lack of performance in conjunction with his inflated contract. Leino gets slammed for his lack of performance in conjunction with his inflated contract. Yet Miller seems to always get a pass and when he plays poorly there is always an excuse to justify it. Yet here were have Enroth who made the majority of his starts last year when half the team was hurt and running for the bus, while the rest of his starts were 3 weeks apart. For some reason he's not allowed any excuses to justify his losses, even when he puts up .900 save percentage in games where he takes the loss because the team in front of him couldn't put up more than one goal. And somehow he managed to have a better save % than Miller last year even when Miller had the benefit of making most of his starts in front of a healthy team. Double standard anybody? Did you include the fact the team didn't score more than 2 goals for 10 straight games? And it wasn't 16 games, at least 3 of those he came in for relief of Miller.
-
Miller played the majority of the games to start the season when they were healthy. Miller played the majority of the games towards the end of the year when they were healthy. Most of Enroth's starts were when the team was hurt, how can he end up with a higher save % than Miller when most of his starts were during that 'span'?
-
Anybody who accurately assesses a goaltender's performance.
-
Yet Enroth still managed to have a better save % than Miller.
-
Didn't he lose those when half the team was hurt and they were running for the bus while scoring one goal a game? I love when people use that stat against Enroth. Miller's numbers wouldn't have been any better during that stretch. Enroth is playing better than Miller right now. Since this season is this close to the Jets being thrown away, Enroth should be given the chance right now to prove he can be #1. Ride the hot goalie, he should start the next couple of games and beyond if he keeps it up.

Not that it's much to write home about, but they do only have 3 regulation losses in the last 11 games.
