I'm not trying to defend Marcy, I think what happens in the next couple of weeks will make or break his career with BFLO. Assuming people realize you can't build a Cup contender overnight and also assuming people realize Marcy was working on a leash until Pegula took over. I keep hearing on this thread the only way to get Marcy fired and change the direction of the organization is to lose out. With that said, can anybody tell me what Marcy has done that hhas been detrimental to the team recently? Gaustad for a first rounder. Roy for Ott. Kassian for Hodgson (not to mention Sulzer being an added bonus). Nobody can tell me BFLO didn't get the better of every one of those deals. Core players aside (pre-Pegula moves) nobody can tell me those moves haven't improved the team. Whatever killed this team early in the season has nothing to do with his recent transactions. They have to do with the players who were on the team prior to said transactions, most of them pre-Pegula era. To the forum police, no this isn't off-topic. I want to know what Marcy has done to fuel the fire to get him canned by losing out.

Granted Lou has an offense in front of him, let's take a look at regular season game save percentages. Lou is much better than Miller in the regular season, hence part of the reason they actually make the playoffs. Tough to choose one goalie over the other when one only gets to the playoffs half the time. With that said, I would take Miller because of Lou's insane contract. Then again, I wouldn't spend more than 4 mil total on both my goalies because I think elite goaltenders are becoming a thing of the past. I think many of you people seriously overrate other team's defenses simply because you think ours is that bad. Prior to this year our defense hasn't been nearly as bad compared to the rest of the league as you make it seem. LG this part wasn't directed at you, it was a separate post. I don't like the way this board combines posts.

I totally disagree and I've stated my reasons. We'll just have to leave it at that.

Look at the title. Finishing at the bottom kills any chances of bringing in big name free agents or players changing their no trade clause to come here. So in essence you've taken a risk by losing and drafting an unproven player over luring in proven vets.

I remember a discussion a long time ago on this board talking about the unethical practice of certain teams purposely tanking to get high picks. I wonder who was involved in that discussion now that the roles are reversed.
-
And equally as many who didn't turn out to be great. The difference between a team willing to make changes every year to improve as opposed to risking a complete rebuild is 2-3 years of basement dwelling. And you still might not succeed. What happens if the guy you drafted because you decided to tank ends up with concussion issues early on? One more big concussion and Cindy could be done. Some teams need to be blown up ala Tallon @ Panthers. This Sabres team is no where near that point, and I would have said that before the recent win streak.

I edited my post............. There's nothing I like more than watching my teams lose, especially on purpose. It makes it even more fun knowing that the draft pick could be a complete bust and it ended up being a complete waste of time. Y'all are starting to sound like Bills fans.

Beacuse it makes so much more sense to completely dismantle a team and start from scratch than to make a trade.
-
There have been plenty of middle-top teams who have drafted in the top 3.
-
As many as you.
-
Anybody ever stop to consider the possibility of making a trade in the offseason, BFLO's first round pick and something else for the first round pick of one of the bottom three?
-
Actually I think ANA signed Dvorak and needs to clear waivers.

Theodore Weaver Bergenheim Jovanovski Versteeg Perros Weiss All of them out. All but Perros were key players last year. They have 9 players on the roster for tonight who have less than 50 games of experience. Last year's team wasn't the team of the future, most were fill ins while the draft picks made their transition. Eight first and second round picks in two years, most are just now getting into the lineup. Tallon knows what he's doing. All I'm waiting on is the forum police to tell us to stick to the topic haha.

Nobody in the draft has had a chance to prove their worth to accurately answer that question. FWIW, this was all part of the plan for the Panthers. Not to mention they have a crapload of injuries. But, I digress.

A team can be successful without getting the best picks. A team can be a failure while getting top picks every year. Anybody who cheers for their team to lose should just go follow another team. It sickened me to hear Koziol and Malacaro actually getting on board with it last night, being the teams official radio station. You're blowing an awful lot of games taking a risk on a guy who might not even pan out, then you're screwed. This team doesn't need to get blown up, it needs a couple of significant changes. That can be done without starting from scratch. I'm sick of going through this with the Bills every year, I sure as he'll don't want to do it with the Sabres.

I'm thinking fans just undervalue our D-men and overvalue the rest of the league.
-
That's how I see it too.
-
I can't believe they're actually having this discussion on WGR about purposely losing games to bottom out. Go follow a different team if you don't like it!
-
The Panthers are losing. This game isn't going to help our #1 pick chances.
-
Leino has looked really good since he came back.
-
Sabres could be 8-4-2 in the division after this game.

1-0 score, shots on goal 20-13? Did you catch up on some sleep? Wow, that sounds like a dull game.
