  1. Please, explain.
  2. I'll man up and admit he's completely spinning my point so he doesn't have to address what I really said. He does it all the time and I'm tired of explainging myself.
  3. If you say so, I'm not playing your games.
  4. That was a good one.
  5. You still didn't answer my question. Vast majority is not a number, and it's not correct either. For the record, 9 of the top 20 highest paid goaltenders are going to miss the playoffs this year with the possibility of 11 of 20 missing. 53% of teams will make the playoffs and best case scenario 55% of the highest paid goaltenders will make the playoffs. There is zero correlation. 11 of 20 isn't a vast majority, 9 of 20 isn't even a majority, period.
  6. And Stafford scored 31 goals in 62 games. That's the neat thing about percentages, it's not dependent on volume. If I stop 9 out of 10 shots or 90,000 out of 100,000 shots, the number remains the same.
  7. Present tense and future tense. Look it up. If you get a chance, tell us all how many of the league's highest paid goaltenders are going to the playoffs this year. I can be snarky too.
  8. Sully's a professional sensationalist, he'll make something up.
  9. As I mentioned on this post, superstart goaltenders are becoming a thing of the past: Until an 'elite' goaltender can come along and string together some consistent 'elite' seasons, goaltenders aren't going to warrant another Miller-like contract. How many similar contracts have been signed over the last couple of years? I think somebody who is in a dire goaltending situation will be willing to trade a lot for Miller, but I think GM's are starting to realize that getting an elite season out of a goaltender is a roll of the dice. I'm still trying to figure out why people are still saying that it will be tougher than we think to replace Miller. Our backup is about to finish a second consecutive year with a better save percentage. Well said. The fact that a goaltender's performance nowadays is a roll of the dice is just another reason why I think it's important to have two goaltenders. Not 1 and 1a, or 1a and 1b............. 1 and 1. You play whoever is hot and stick with him until he's not.
  10. If I got the #16 and #40, yes I would want more coming back. I don't think the return would be a difference maker though. I think Darcy has enough draft picks where I would review all my options and go after a legitimate first liner, preferably a #1 center. Whoever that ended up being would determine what else I would want back, if any.
  11. 8-3 game at the time and you're going to get on their case for not criticizing Enroth? Hell, even I'd give Miller a pass had that been him.
  12. Some on here have said he shouldn't be traded. The point is simply, if you can get at least a third and possibly a fourth 1st round pick in this years draft which could drastically decrease the turnaround time for a rebuild, you trade him. As I have mentioned several times, this will be the second straight year Enroth will finish with a better save percentage than Miller. Miller has been near the bottom half in save percentage. I don't really see where the team loses out by not having Miller around. Anything worse than Miller's stats over the last three years can easily be fixed with a trade. Loading up on 1st round picks isn't as easy.
  13. No he's not very fast, but he's extremely quick. If he needs to gain a step on somebody from an idle, there isn't anybody who will keep up with him. Give them a couple of strides it's a different story. Most would agree this is one of the poorest passing teams in the league, I don't think the pucks are getting on his stick because it's too short. :P Gerbe's not a game changer, but he's hardly a liability. This team has bigger things to worry about at the moment.
  14. Take the good with the bad, somebody with a longer stick wouldn't have been quick enough to be in that position in the first place.
  15. The second part of my post still stands. ;) And by the end of his Vezina year, Miller had made 328 starts. Not like he was a beginner.
  16. Explain the years prior then. Regardless, the Sabres aren't the only team in the league with a porous defense. Miller isn't the only goaltender to have to deal with it. He thinks he is elite, management thinks he is elite, elite goaltenders make up for their teams' weaknesses. Compared to the rest of the league, Miller hasn't had elite stats for most of his career.
  17. Let me reprhase that. There was nothing substantially different with that team compared to all the rest of Miler's years that would explain being #2 in save percentage and an average of #17 the rest of his career. Yes the last few weren't as good as the 2009-10 team, but nothing that would cause him to drop that much.
  18. Absolutely.
  19. I put more importance on save percentage. Save percentage 2005-06 #9 2006-07 #15 2007-08 #29 2008-09 #8 2009-10 #2 2010-11 #17 2011-12 #19 2012-13 #20 GAA 2005-06 #11 2006-07 #22 2007-08 #24 2008-09 #18 2009-10 #2 2010-11 #21 2011-12 #23 2012-13 #38
  20. You could have just said others should be moved first. Now that you've created a list this is going to turn into a thread about who should be eliminated from the roster. In fact it already has.
  21. I agree. None of their comments need to be taken so seriously. I like that Miller calls out his D-men, the power play, the effort. The BFLO media are the ones who take it to extremes. People complain because athletes aren't more open and honest, but as soon as they are the media spins it in a direction that makes them look bad. I can't blame them for relying on cliches all the time.
  22. His stats prove otherwise. And the team can't be blamed for that because the Sabres weren't any better the year he won the Vezina. But you're not necessarily against keeping him either, correct?
  23. Perhaps, but this thread is about Miller.
