I just think he's a better all around player. He makes his linemates better and he's better defensively.
-
You could see the officiating the last month of the regular season cutting way back on the calls they were making, getting ready for the playoffs. Look at how much better it makes the game when the players don't have to worry about sent to the box for looking at somebody the wrong way. If I had to choose between Malkin and Crosby, I'd take Malkin without even thinking twice.
-
Me too. This looked like a series that was going to get out hand. Well, this game's not done yet haha.
-
Damn, that was a pretty goal!

Jhonas Enroth at the World Championships!

Too bad for Richards and Nash that they didn't come to BFLO. They would certainly look better right now.

Man, I swear every time I see Julien I'm thinking..... 'mmmmmmm, pizza'. Might sound juvenile, but so be it. :P
-
They just showed Julien behind the bench.
-
Oh no doubt. But they've had that speed for a couple of years now with nothing to show for it. I think with a full season they wouldn't have made the playoffs. Only next year can tell if they are turning the corner. I won't be convinced until I actually see it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say every hockey player is going to say that about their team and locker room atmosphere. If there's any truth about the way Ott talks, the same can already be said about the Sabres. The Isles have been loaded with talent for a few years now and haven't done anything with it. They happened to have a decent short season and played hot against the Pens. Any team can go on a hot streak. Let's not get too hasty and all of a sudden think they are a good team.
-
Yeah, I'd like to see him get one too. I wouldn't count on it, haha. I can't stand them. It sucks that two guys that deserve a Cup at the end of their career are on that team, outside of that I totally despise them.

I see it as just the opoosite. I think Miller is becoming more valuable because of his contract. Kiprusoff is getting older, Bryz has a bad contract as does Luongo. Fleury is just hiighly overrated. Miller is still relatively young without a ton of years left. Apparently I didn't far enough down the thread. Ya beat me to it. Nice post. ;)

I'm just happy to see Vokoun do well. The dude spent so much time on a non-contender and never complained about it (or at least gave the impression of discontent). I'm really not a fan of the Pens but I'd like to see him get a Cup and play a big part in it.

Goaltending controversy? There shouldn't be! Thanks, that was more fitting. :P
-
How did the $100 million man do in the playoffs for Minnesota?
-
Anderson moving on to 2nd round, Vokoun getting the shutout, nice to see two ex-Panthers get some credit they long deserved.
-
Not only is he below .900, he is WELL below .900. There's something about goaltending controversies in the playoffs and it seems we may have our first. I'm a big fan of sticking with the hot goaltender regardless of his name or contract, some think the opposite. Pittsburgh isn't known for being patient with players, or coaches for that matter. If Vokoun gets the nod again, I wonder if Fluery's days may be numbered if he doesn't make his way back in and show he can do it. I know last year's Phi/Pit series was far from your average series, it may have been the worst goaltended series I have ever seen.

I drove up here to western North Carolina, leaving last Thursday, the rain followed me all the way up. A low pressure system sat over this area for four days, dropped 10.5" in this location on Saturday and Sunday. I can deal with some drizzle for outdoor activities, after all it does that quite often here. But it was to the point of staying in the condo all weekend and going next door to the Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company to watch the hockey games. Rain finally started to let up Monday, but flooding closed one of the roads until mid-day Monday. I planned to get about 3 days in of outdoor fun and 2-3 days of exploring Asheville and the immediate suburbs in the eyes of a perspective resident in hopes of moving here soon. I've been here several times but not looking at it as a resident. Well, all the got cut in half and didn't get nearly as much done as a wanted. Actually, the original plan was to spend about 10 days here but about a week before I was about to leave I found out I need to be back to FL on Saturday. So what started off last month as a potential 10 day trip turned out to be 3 days worth of activities. I'm not happy.

Fleury is notorious for prolonged slumps, especially last year in the playoffs where he just couldn't rebound at all. Pens are up 3-0 and Vokoun has always been a consistent goaltender. If he does well tonight, does Bylsma have the nads to stick with him?

If Darcy set out to transform the team into something that could compete when the league morphed back into it's old self, there would have been changes to the team immediately which may have hurt that two year span of success. Nobody knows that Darcy knew this or not and ran with it as long as he could. And the whole Darcy thing about Drury and Briere........... if Darcy wasn't allowed to spend the money, tell me again why it's his fault? I'm not sold on Montreal. I don't think they were a division winning team. Everybody keeps pointing at them as this great example of quick rebuilding. If we had a full season they never would have lasted. I think they're now getting back to reality. I need to see how they turn out next year. Again, that's my opinion.
-
Oh, and for the record, everybody would be crying about Zubrus' contract if he stayed here for what he signed in Jersey.
-
One could also say that he predicted how the league would turn out immediately after the lockout which is what led to the early success. For crying out, sometimes this place could reach the apple at the top of the tree. So Grumpy says the Sabres turned into losers because the league morphed back into it's old self, you say the team would have been the same either way. Either Darcy makes changes right away after the lockout to prevent them from being losers in a couple of years, thereby making them unsuccessful after the lockout........... or he rode it out as long as he could. Either way, everybody in BFLO ######. You're not going to turn a team around in two years. How anybody can blame on Darcy for not keeping up is beyond me. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we win the Cup next year people will bitch that we didn't get enough high draft picks. Right now Drew Stafford is the happiest man in BFLO. He now has two whipping boys in front of him.
-
Psssst, d4rk....... Any predictions? ;)
-
Could be why you think he's average. :P
-
Dude, he was a free agent and decided to leave to a team with a chance at a Cup........... because he's 36 years old. Show me goaltending stats that matter and tell me where he is average. Just because he didn't win in FL doesn't mean he's average. How many playoff years did Luongo get to down here?
