Thanks! ;) That makes more sense, allowing for teams to see what is available before free agency starts. I did a search and couldn't find anything.
-
Hmmmm, she did. Now it's gone. I was just signing on to reply and it disappeared. :o

If a team chooses to use one or both of their amnesty buyouts, when does it need to be made official? I would assume it would be by July 5th, no?

The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?

Can you name any player who put up a .5 GPG season and wound up with a lesser contract? Would it have been better if Stafford made $3 mil/yr? Is Darcy's worthiness really hanging on $1mil? Actually, this thread isn't about Darcy. It's just another 'Darcy sucks' hijack just like every other thread turns out to be which is really becoming monotonous. That really annoys me so I'm going to excuse myself before I become any more hypocritical. Let's just say, we're all 'professionals' when there is nothing on the line and we judge our opinions and decisions two years after the fact when it becomes so much easier to look correct. Just once I'd like to see somebody bring up their suggestions from years past that were way off base. -

And I suppose this whole board would have supported Darcy letting Stafford walk after scoring 31 goals in 62 games. -

The only problem is fans on a forum use hindsight to convince everybody how much smarter they are than the million doallar GM. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way, nobody can make decisions based on hindsight. It's certainly easier for a fan to say they were right 2 years down the road. In reality, if team decisions were based on what forum fans thought would be best at the time....... let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. Instead of saying 'I was right I told you so', let's go back to those specific times and see what this board was actually saying. Hindsight sure is convenient to those who think they know it all. BTW, only the first part of that response was directed at you. The rest was just a general statement. ;) -

It's just as fair to rip Darcy for not signing Drury and Briere when everybody knows his hands were tied. -
Paille didn't get a promotion to play with Seguin, Seguin got a demotion. He's been useless ever since his first two playoff games in 2011. 3G, 7A in 37 playoff games.
-
Soooooo, anybody seen any good movies lately?
-
Good point. He's a 30 goal scorer, but no way does he play a full season.
-
We can't make this team faster, we need a full roster of size and grit. 6'4" 230#'ers.
-
Thanks for the overview of what I posted three above yours.
-
Oh I'd love to have him too. I watched his first few years down here and he is definitely a 30 goal scorer if healthy. I wouldn't mind taking him for a shorter term contract because of his injuries. He was given the choice to stay in FL or get traded, when he heard 'rebuild' he immediately said he didn't want to stay. So if there is any chance of him coming to BFLO, I think Darcy is going to have to overpay him significantly. It's a shame he had to start his NHL career of with chronic shoulder problems.
-
Yup, he's damaged goods. His left shoulder is in really bad shape, not to mention his head.
-
Good for Huberdeau! The kid's gonna be great. Can't imagine the numbers he could have put up had he not had a hip that required surgery during the offseason. I wonder how Holmgren feels about Bob winning the Vezina HAHA.
-
Literally
-
His shoulder was messed up starting in 2004 when he had a dislocation, multiple surgeries and a torn rotator cuff. http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2004-12-07/sports/0412060462_1_team-canada-nathan-horton-panthers Probably around the same place as Carolina, Phoenix, Tampa, Dallas, Nashville........ We actually have other things to do down here to occupy our time.
-
Thanks, that's what I was getting at when I brought up the fact that he is injured; whether or not he would even be a candidate for a buyout. That would make sense about the LTIR. I'm still trying to get a hold on this new CBA as to what is new and what was carried over in terms of all these particular guidelines.
-
Considering Pronger is considered injured, how does his contract play out with these buyouts? It would seem to me he would be a better candidate for a buy out if he's never going to play again. $5mil cap hit through 2017.
-
Haha, my comment was a generalization. Wasn't singling anybody out. I'm sure I'm guilty of being associated with a few myself. :D I'm not sure what to expect. I'm hoping he signs a couple to at least be competitive next season, I know he won't have to worry about cap space.
-
14, I think that's the number of threads hijacked to talk about Darcy's incompetence.................... in the last month.

There's no fighting, I was aiming for a civilized adult conversation like most of us have on this forum. So much for that. Should have known better when I came across two of the people on this forum who have difficulty with that.
