I haven't heard if he finally went through shoulder surgery. I'd actually rather go after a 30 goal scorer through a trade.

A healthy Horton could net 30 goals. I'm just concerned about his shoulder. His issues go way back beyond the last two years and they were pretty significant before he even got to the NHL.

A young team needs character and experience. Not to mention a little bit of extra talent to give the fans something to watch. If you put an entire team of young talent together with absolutely no veteran leadership and experience, you get................ the Oilers. Darcy has had a ton of early round draft picks the last two years. He can continue to rebuild while still being competitve and managing to hold on to Vanek.

Apparently. Unless............ a quick glance at Capgeek shows them now $3mil over the limit. If they're trying to buy a Cup and are serious about Miller, something good will be coming back. On the other hand they may not try to afford him now.

The bad part about a complete bebuild like the Panthers did is, if it doesn't work out you've just wasted 6-7 years of the franchise. But Tallon built the Hawks Cup team(s) so they should be OK.

It was inevitable. Panthers fans knew it. The free agent signings were to fill in the roster spots for the guys who would eventually be called up. Reason they were last in the league last year was because they had NINE players make their NHL debuts and the top scoring line missed a total of 80 games. Rebuild is done, it's now just a matter of filling in any holes and letting the new guys gain experience. It's going to be fun watching these guy gel.

I'm right there with ya! I can't take not having any hockey to watch, thankfully hockey has such a short offseason.

I'm looking forward to what he's going to do this week. I think Darcy will make some moves and/or pick up a couple of free agents. Between Armia, McNabb, Grig, Girgensons, maybe a couple of yesterdays picks and any new transactions............... the possibility of seeing Enroth be a full time starter. Last year was an absolute train wreck, I'm looking forward to the fact that I think it will only be better. I get upset when they lose, I get upset when players don't play up to their potential, I get upset if I think Darcy makes a bad move......... but I'm not going to go out of my way to be as negative and relentelss as some of the people on here. I've got better things to worry about. It's a game, it's entertaimment. I enjoy contrasting the Sabres and the Panthers. It seems as though some on here really enjoy trashing anybody and anything related to the Sabres organization. If I got to that point I might as well just stop watching because it defeats the purpose of being a fan of the sport. I've got no problem with people voicing their gripes and their opinion. I have a problem with it happening in every single thread. I'm sorry you value the rights of others to voice their opinion, and not mine.

They still managed to do it. Point is, they needed twice the fillers as BFLO needs so it shouldn't be that difficult for BFLO to be somewhat competitive and exciting with the right FA moves and trades. There is no reason they have to finish dead last next year. (Enter all doom & gloomers that says we need to tank for the #1 pick next year.)

Dale Tallon filled up his roster with mostly UFA's for a year as fillers while he rebuilt. They won a division and came within an OT of getting to the second round. Granted, the division was weak, they still won it. And he needed twice as many players as the Sabres need.

I think there are quite a few things to look forward to. I'm looking forward to the season starting. It can only be better than last year. Some people will just never be happy no matter who Darcy drafts.

I don't either. It doesn't have to be from scratch. Vanek needs to stay, end of story. This week will be a telling tale, Darcy needs to make some moves to convince Vanek it will be short. I hope Ott tries to convince him as well, we all know he's a competitor and wants to win, Ott's agent said they would be working on an extension for him after the draft. I'd like to go after Horton, but I'm really concerned about his shoulder.

Darcy sucks, suffer, suffer, Pegual sucks, 3-5 years, Darcy doesn't know what he's doing.............. This place has turned into a broken record, every post is the same keywords and catch phrases and a complete lack of any intelligible discussion. I think I need to take a break and have somebody PM me when this place gets back to the way it once was.

Wow, some people are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I would tend to trust the experts with their unbiased, educated opinion over those with biased, blind hatred towards the entire front office staff of the Sabres.

I'm wondering if he's waiting to see what kind of offers he gets for Miller this week before committing. He might be giving him an opportunity to have a shot to play in the NHL somewhere else IF Miller stays. He might be saying to be patient in that he could sign Leggio to backup Enroth next year if he can trade Miller. I think we'll have a lot better idea what the hell's going on in a couple of weeks. After what's happened today, Darcy has to have something in mind.

Man, a quiet offseason would really do you a world of good.
