I like Rob Ray. He's not a journalist, he has an excuse. It's nice to have somebody speaking from the players' perspective. With the rapid decline of journalistic integrity in the professional world, somebody like Rob Ray should be the last to get criticized for his lack of vocabulary. However, I agree with the pat-on-the-back encouragements like he's talking to an 8 year old tee ball team. Pierre McGuire does it all the time with his 'go have fun out there', it irks the hell out of me. These are grown men, professional athletes. Stop talking to them like children. Rob's not the only one that does it, it happens all the time.

Unless they have absolute proof that Hartley ordered Westgarth to do this, you just can't randomly throw out fines for something a coach has no control over. What's next, are they going to start fining coaches when their players get susended for bad hits? Are the going to start fining coaches any time a player gets into any fight during the course of the game? I don't like the direction that's going. I see your point, really I do. Why the hell did Hartley get fined $25K? Where in the rulebook does it regulate who a coach is allowed to put on the ice? This is getting ridiculous.

Torts is just as much at fault. Do you honestly think there would have been any fighting if the Sedins had started the game against the 4th line? Granted Torts made the right call, I still highly doubt there would have been any fighting of the Twins. If there are actions to be taken as a result of this, where do you draw the line? Once the ball gets rolling, it rarely stops. Before you know it they will be regulating EVERYTHING. There will be more Rolston fines, there will be more unsportmanlikes handed out 'just in case' and it will be another step in the direction of removing hiting and fighting in hockey. It would be silly for the NHL, or the officials on the ice, to do anything because a rarely used 6'4" winger was on the ice to start the game. Should the NHL hand out 2 minute unsportsmanlike penalties for every starter the league doesn't approve?

Why does there always need to be rules changes and/or disciplinary actions for situations like the Canucks-Flames game last night? The fans loved it, they got the media attention............. just let it go.

Why is it a select few still refuse to accept this as truth?

Whether or not there is a place in the game for it, you just cannot fine and/or suspend a coach for player selection. How is the league going to keep enforcing this from now on to make it fair and non-judgmental, give every player a 'goon rating' and each line cannot exceed a total 'goon score'? By penalizing coaches for player selection you're getting into an ugly world of discrimination and judgment calls.

Red Wings scored a PPG with :30 left when the puck went out of play, bounced off the netting and fell down off the back of Quick. The puck was clearly out of play and they deemed it an unreviewable goal. What nonsense! Should have been a Kings win 2-1 but the Wings won 3-2 in a SO.

It rolls back, so they draft 30th. :P

Is NBC getting ready to ramp up the Miller hype leading up to, and immediately after, the Olympics? I noticed the Sabres are on NBC four times in the next three weeks, and then three more times right after the Olympics. I don't recall the Sabres getting all those NBC games.

I'm so not looking forward to the primaries.
