It's not a great deal? We get a high 1st round pick AND a 1st line forward. I hope you're referring to the possibility that Moulson isn't traded and we lose him to free agency. Because if he re-signs I think it was a great deal, and I think he could be a big part of the future of this team.

What's really going to suck is it's going to be 4-5 years before we can trade all our prospects for 1st round picks. Isn't our goal to have twenty 1st and 2nd round picks in one year?

I agree with both of you. There needs to be some serious talks between Murray and our pending UFA's to see what their definite plans are. Yes, we cannot afford to lose Moulson without getting anything for him (although a 1st did come back in that trade). But if there is an option, as in Moulson absolutely wanting to stay here, the best option is to keep him. I'd much rather he stays than goes if he really does want to stay. Granted, I'm sure Moulson would like to test the market to see what he is worth, I'm sure the fact that the Sabres can spend a lot of money will weigh on his mind. Him and Ott should get top dollar.............. and they know it.

Why is everybody so set on trading Moulson? We already got a 1st rounder in that deal. We have a chance to keep a potential first liner AND a 1st round pick. This trading the entire team for draft picks and prospects is really getting out of hand. A line needs to be drawn somewhere. Outside of a Miller deal, that line should already be drawn. Yes, I am aware this is assuming Moulson wants to re-sign.

Besides the fact that somebody already mentioned they want to stay, some players might prefer a role on a team like BFLO. Teams don't stay successful forever, if they bolt for a better team there is a chance they might be in a downfall. Here, they've already hit rock bottom. Guys like Moulson and Ott know that they will be THE key guys in this team moving forward. Here, they will be in the limelight. On other teams they may just be another player on that team. I just don't see why some people get the impression that players wouldn't come (or stay) to/in BFLO if their lives depended on it. Personally, I'd rather be a part of a team that has nowhere to go but up, with an owner and management that will do anything to make it happen. I'd rather be a part of a team that wins a Cup knowing that I had a lot to do with it, rather than coming over as a rental. If I were in my mid to late 30's it might be a different story. But if I still had 7-10 years left in my career...... no.

I don't see any risk, they already got another 1st rounder out of the deal. Somehow I don't see a problem with acquiring a 1st rounder AND a player who has the potential to be this team's top scorer. We've got enough picks, do what it takes now to keep your assets. If anything I hope he's out past the deadline so there is a better chance they try to re-sign him.
