Not sure which thread this belongs in, so I'll give this one a shot. http://www.ottawasun.com/2014/04/12/buffalo-sabres-gm-tim-murray-open-for-business-when-it-comes-to-dealing-players Tim Murray will be a busy man in the off-season. He’s willing to play Let’s Make a Deal just about anybody. The Buffalo Sabres’ GM has hung the ‘For Sale’ sign outside the club’s office and he’s willing to move just about anybody as the off-season officially gets underway Monday for non-playoff teams. Sources say Murray has been shopping RW Chris Stewart, D Christian Erhoff, C Luke Adam and RW Drew Stafford. It doesn’t stop there, either. The Sabres will also listen to see what they can get for LW Marcus Foligno, LW Johan Larsson and D Chad Ruhwedel. The last three are young players that are still considered prospects so it’s a little surprising Murray would be willing to move any of those guys given the club’s current state and direction. “He’s just open for business,” said a league executive about Murray before the weekend. “He hasn’t drafted any of these current guys.” Murray was amongst the NHL’s busiest GMs at the deadline by dealing goalie Ryan Miller and captain Steve Ott. The Sabres aren’t done by any stretch and are moving into the next rebuild phase.

GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Buffalo at Boston 4-12-14 at 12:30 PM EDT

I really hope the Bruins end up playing the Flyers in the first round. That way, regardless of who wins, they'll end up killing each other and one of them won't advance. -

I hope some level of the old Nolan shows up next year because he sure as hell mailed in this season with a month left.I sure as hell don't want a coach this soft and tight-lipped moving forward with this team. -

Somebody named Kevin Kapalka backed up Makarov last night. If Makarov has to come up tomorrow and Rochester is on their 3rd game in 3 days, who is left to fill in? -

I think 2/3 of those majors were under Rolston. -

How many times have we claimed to have hit rock bottom this year? -

Chara doesn't have the balls. He's saving his energy to throw a dirty hit on Conacher, but he'll make sure Ennis, Hodgson and Ehrhoff are on the ice when he does it. -

But, Nolan's turned over a new leaf. Only thing that will happen in the presser is Nolan shaming Scott for getting kicked out of the game. -

This league is so one-sided it makes me sick. Lucic gets dirty against the 4 softest players on the team and Scott gets kicked out for not even getting into a fight. What a ###### joke. I bet Murray will be very vocal. -
They have 4 guys that could finish as the top scorer.
-
Just last week the Blues were up 4 points for the conference lead in what looked like a first round matchup with Dallas, Glendale or even Minnesota. Now they're tied with Colorado for the division lead. We could end up seeing a Blues-Hawks first round matchup if the Blues can't take the division. Colorado plays the Ducks and Sharks to finish off the season and the Avs hold the tie-breaker.
-
Speaking of offensive futility, if Nick Bjugstad is held pointless in his last game, he will become the lowest scoring team leader in points ever in an 82 game season with 38 points.
-
True. Fair enough.

All kidding aside, this is starting to prove correct a theory I had going into this trade; albeit a small sample size so far. I think each team reaches a point where goaltending really can't be improved much more. When you look at fluke bounces, deflections and odd goals scored because of scrums (the types of goals where the goaltender wouldn't make a differnce) there is really only so much you can improve a team's save percentage. With the style of game the Blues play I think they were just fine with Halak and Elliot. They were #1 in save percentage two years ago, they were a top 5 this year until Miller got there. When you are one of the best save percentage teams in the league and you're looking for that extra edge to push you over the top, in my opinion you don't mess with what is working. I don't think they had that much to gain by trading for Miller. If you have a poor defensive team with Halak, Elliot and Miller..... Miller is going to be the better goaltender. If you have a great defensive team with Halak, Elliot and Miller...... nobody is going to stand out. Their offense picked a bad time to slump.

Seems like he was doing better before the Olympics. Oops, did I say that out loud?

I mentioned this on another thread. Lieuwen has had concussion issues. He's only 22 and on at least his 3rd concussion. From what I've read, one of the concussions set him back a long time and at one point was concerned about getting back to form to move up the ranks. Now that he just had another one they might have to look at the possibility that he'll never play again.
-
The Lieuwen injury was a blatant elbow to the head. Now he's concussed for the 3rd time (at least) in the last few years. One has to wonder if he has a future.
-
I saw some of Schopp's tweets earlier. I'm glad I missed the show. Was he drunk?
-
Somebody should have gone after Roseweed. Plus, there was plenty of time to take care of Rinaldo. Although I'm not sure who was on the ice. I do know Weber was on the ice when Leiuwen got elbowed in the head. Haven't the Sabres been down this road before with sticking up for our concussed goaltenders after being run by the oppose my team's goons on national TV? That's at least 3 concussions for Leiuwen. One has to question the future of his career at this point.
