Sutter must have wanted him to play a different style. -

Most of that was accomplished despite Nash and Richards. -

He's been a playoff failure all his life. 3 goals in 22 games this year. 2 goals in 16 games previously. He's no more hurt than everybody else. Instead of trading the entire team for Nash, we traded the entire team for draft picks. I think we made out on the deal. The only thing that sucks about all the big name is hype is Pegula actually wasted a night wining and dining Richards. -

Anybody still upset the Sabres couldn't swing a deal for Nash and Richards? I bet Leino is. -
I'm sorry that we can beat a dead horse when it's all acceptable to trash every member of the Sabres organization, past and present, except for Ryan Miller. I'm sorry that all it takes is the slightest mention of anything negative about Miller to rally the troops. I'm sorry that nobody can recognize the double standard that we can talk about Miller unitl we're blue in the face, but nobody mentions the dead horse or repetitious rhetoric until a contradictory opinion is thrown into the equation. I'm sorry that some people get offended so easily and I'm sorry for offering an opinion that all but one fail to address, while ironically saying I have nothing to add. I guess the Hockey Channel was right about fans from BFLO. With that said, from now on I will be sure to submit my differing opinion to the propoer autorities for approval before posting on the forum. I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings. Now, I'm going to pack for my vacation, something some people around here may want to consider because this place is would way too tight. By the way, I won't hold my breath for any counterpoints. I'd be dead already.

I've added plenty. You came out and called me ignorant without absolutely noting to back it up, when I didn't even address you. You might want to look in the mirror. All I started with was that I believed that Miller's attitude has, and will play a part in his future or at least the terms of his contract. Tom Webster was the only one that followed it up with a well thought out post.

No, the majority of the last close to 100+ posts have been about Miller signing with a new team, and what may hinder his chances of getting what he wants. All I did was mention his attitude might be an issue and the crew goes into full attack mode on me. Of course I'm the bad guy. We can sit here and trash Leino, Darcy, Stafford..... But the second I say something remotely negative about Miller the thread goes to hell with people making me out to be the bad guy. Of course I'm the guilty one, not the rest that gang up on me.

I'm not in the mood to take pot shots at Miller. I'm presenting legitimate arguments with facts to back it up. The problem is that apparently it's still taboo to say anything remotely negative about Ryan Miller without somebody sending out the bat signal for all the Miller apologists. For some reason fans think he's the only one exempt from criticism. I'm sorry you'll only accept a one-sided discussion. For years now all we've heard are excuses for Miller with the small exception of the lead up to the Olympics. When in reality the Sabres 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th string goaltenders had a better combined save percentage than Miller did after his trade. Aside from Enroth, none of them had time to adjust to a "system". And they pllayed behind the worst team in the league. All these excuses for Miller but not one on the fan club is willing to admit that maybe he's just average. Maybe the pre-Olympic hot streak Miller had was "random".
-
Played too much, system wasn't absolutely perfect for him, he didn't eat his Wheaties, randomness, the team failed him, the coach wanted him to play a half degree more to the left, his pillows weren't fluffed just right............. I've never seen more excuses for a player in my life. There's so much denial in this thread, it outweighs the actual Nile. One of these days people will learn that he really is just average. ;) If Miller can't adjust to a team (like 90% of the goaltenders in the league do) he's not going to have a starting job.

Very well could be. But the fact he was running for the same bus during that 3rd period of the last playoff game that he used to run some of his Blues teammates over with is more recent evidence. The overall picture of my point is a relevant one in that character and work ethic are equally as important as talent when evaluating a player for a potential free agent signing. Which I thought was the current discussion.

I'm far from the biggest Miller fan. But let's remember the only time in the last 5 years that the Penguins made a legitimate run in the playoffs wasn't riding on the back of Fleury. The Pens went that far because of a 36 year old Vokoun. Now, I would argue that Vokoun is a better goaltender. But it can happen that an older goaltender can be effective. Roloson carried Tampa a couple of years ago. 34 years old isn't washed up.
