Policing this place is going to cause more issues than the issues policing is supposed to fix. This is getting ridiculous.
-
It's a topic that could fit in either thread. Brawndo probably posted in both to cover his ass so that he didn't get yelled at for posting in the wrong thread. Don't be mad he beat you to the punch. :P
-
I don't recall ever hearing that.
-
You're probably right.
-
I agree. I find it hard to believe that Murray couldn't, or didn't offer him something better.

This is just my opinion, but I think some of you guys are SERIOUSLY undervaluing some of our players.
-
Sorry, I was wrong. We're down to 19 I forgot about the Gorges trade. I just wanna see a little veteran scoring is all. Let the pieces fall in place and see how the season turns out.
-
That 'probably my' applies to the first overall pick as well. There is no mortgaging the future to bring in a proven scorer when you have twenty 1st and 2nd round picks in a four year span. There won't be enough room for all of them as it is. At least trading for another Moulson, you know for a fact you have a proven NHL forward. I can see your point totally if we had limited draft picks, but that's not the case.
-
My point is, don't use hindsight from a vague timeframe to prove a point. It's counterproductive and lazy.
-
I think we are so deep in prospects (even more so after next year) that we can afford to lose one and a pick to get another Moulson. He's a consistent mid 30 goal scorer which is tough to come by. He still managed to score 20+ this year while playing for three teams, half of that with the worst offensive team in 75 years. For the pro-tankers that shouldn't create that many more wins, but it will help to create some chemistry this year so the kids have something to gel with. Instead of expecting them to be the ones to create the chemistry when they get here.
-
I'm pretty sure the majority supported the Pominville and Hodgson deals. Just because the team didn't go into immediate off-the-cliff tank mode, you can't use hindsight to say they should have done so then when the majority, at the time, supported what was going on. I'd like him to combine a prospect(s) and pick for a current proven NHL'er to give them some sort of offensive foundation to start with. This year. I like the rest of the moves he's made. Fair enough. :flirt:

I'm sorry people on here have to deal with the gang mentality when they're part of the minority. Would it be better if I just jumped on the bandwagon and avoid creating any sort of opposable viewpoints to talk about?
-
Or I'm just expressing my opinion like everybody else on this thread. Couldn't tell by the GDT's last year. Members were figuring out the record needed to finish deal last, members getting upset when the Sabres scored goals, members getting excited when key (use that term loosely) players got hurt increasing the chances of winning. They may not have enjoyed losing, but they sure as hell enjoyed not winning. I hope that the GDT's this year don't get cluttered up with tank scenarios games after game after game. It's going to scare a lot of people off because it does get repetitive. In reference to two years ago, hindsight becomes really convenient after the fact.
-
You can put lipstick on a pig............ :P
-
Now Schopp is promoting the 'tank'. This mentality really is disheartening. I hope this board doesn't speak for the majority of Sabres fans, because if I'm a possible UFA looking for a team I sure as hell am not going to a city that gets pissed at me for giving it my all to win for the city. Really sad that anybody can embrace losing no matter what aspect of life you're talking about.
-
Most have left that impression, many have embraced the idea. He never said anybody hinted at throwing games. All he did was give a summary of the direction the thread was going, and I tend to agree. Just go back to last year when so called 'die-hard' fans complained about winning. I don't think that's hard to understand.
-
That's not even remotely close to the point I was making. Thank you.
-
Oh geez, give it a break will ya? Don't like my opinion, don't read my posts.

By the time they draft McDavid it'll be time to trade Zadorov, Ristolainen, Girgensons and Reinhart for draft picks.
-
Not in person, no. I don't care how good he is, my point still stands.
-
I'd be happy if they made the playoffs regardless. :flirt:
-
I'm perfectly happy with what they have right now. I would have been upset if Murray didn't go out and get some quality players during this offseason. But he made some great moves. If he's trying to tank, he's hiding it well. I don't expect him to trade half our picks for 30-40 goal NHL players right now. I just wanted him to make it look like he's trying to put a competitive team on the ice while our draft picks develop.
-
Very true. Murray gives me the impression that he won't tolerate players with egos/attitudes. I've got nothing against drafting McDavid especially since they have two more picks in the 1st. I just don't want to waste another year in order to do it. I think Murray has made some great additions, I really would like to see Ott come back. Nolan is a great coach and gets the most out of his players. If this combination puts them in a position to draft first overall, so be it.
-
They do. And I don't think they should purposely lose to make one of those picks a #1. 1) I don't like the media circus (i.e. Sidney Crosby, Lebron James) 2) I'm a staunch supporter of well balanced teams instead of teams with a legitimate superstar. How is that working our for Ovechkin and Crosby? I'd rather be the Sabres right now than the Pens or Caps. Fair enough. By the way, I don't have a Geo or a Bentley.
