  1. You're probably right, and Florida is worse than most. Still, I don't think I should have to worry about offending anybody or disrupting their two year old's sleep at a sports game. I think there is a time and place for children, if you bring your kid to the arena then so be it. Just don't expect me to also sit on my hands and bury my face in my cell phone all game. I went to the Aud and sat in the upper level with my dad when I was 6,7 years old, amongst all the obnoxious drunks. That's where I saw Perrault's 500th. I absolutely loved every minute of it. Kids haven't changed how they view the vocal fans, the parents changed in how they tell their kids what to expect. Screaming repeated F-bombs is different than fearing letting one slip. On one hand, we have who I've been talking about. On the other hand we have who some on here think I'm talking about. Man, if today's parents and kids could only experience an arena atmosphere from the Aud days and what was considered the norm.
  2. I said I cheered, not turned around and gave the opposing fans the finger. I jumped out of my chair and yelled "Yah!" with my arms in the air and then clapped for the remaining time. If that's egregious then I don't know what to say. Maybe next time I'll borrow my friends kid and bring a spare battery for my cell phone and pay absolutely no attention to the game at all. You're confusing being an ass with being a fan. I'm not going to go to a game and stand the entire time screaming obscenties. But, I am going to stand up and boo with a bad call, I'm going to stand up and yell when we score. But, I shouldn't have to pause to make sure what comes out of my mouth is going to offend the soccer mom next to me with her toddler. There are plenty of other options. Is their (Chuck E) pizza any good? Maybe I'll go in and watch a Sabres game on Game Center and cheer loudly when they score. :D
  3. And this is why you can hear a pin drop at most arenas. Cell phones and children. Anybody ever hear of Check E. Cheese?
  4. I see it as the opposite. Society has been changing to where everything is about the kids. There is an infatuation with everybody catering to the kids. Everything needs to be family friendly, everything needs to have something attractive for kids. Why? Because that's where the money is. Parents spend more money on kids than ever before. I want to go places that cater to adults and adults only. They have kids nights at arenas, why not adult nights? As has been mentioned, even if they aren't a distraction they just kill the mood when they're some place they shouldn't be. Nobody said anything about being an embarrassment. But when you get crowds with adults that are more concerned about their phones and their kids, you get to the point where we often wonder why some arenas are so quiet. Perhaps there's this record rate of perception that people kids are a nuisance because there's a record rate of children needing to be involved with everything. I've seen in Oregon restaurants have the right to refuse service and/or disallow adults with children if they feel they are ruining the atmosphere after a certain time. And it's not like midnight, if I remember it was 8PM. They get more business than their competitors. Keep in mind I live in the home of the soccer mom so the magnitude may be a little bit higher here haha.
  5. The last Panthers-Sabres game I went to I had a couple behind me tell me to sit down when I cheered for a Sabres goal. I wasn't heckling, swearing, being obnoxious....... I stood up, cheered for about 15 seconds and this guy got in my face. His face was buried in his cell phone the entire game. In an effort to keep it civil I just told him that I paid to come support my team and it's a shame he couldn't do that for his local team. I said if his texting buddies were so much more important that there was a Starbucks at Sawgrass Mills.
  6. No it's not about language or a burning desire to be a dick. Sorry I brought it up.
  7. Now it's a decent environment for a toddler, because everything is turning G-rated. I should have bolded which part I was referring to.
  8. And those people will be shocked when they come across some rowdy fans like everybody is supposed to alter their behavior to protect their child. There are times and places for adults to enjoy adult entertainment, and they are becoming endangered.
  9. Attending hockey games has become a G-rated family experience. I used to remember the good ol R-rated days. Can't we just settle for a happy PG-13 experience and make it more of an adult atmosphere? It really has become a factor when I'm trying to decide whether or not to attend a hockey game. I realize not all arenas are the same, but it's getting there. I know, off-topic. Too bad. :P
  10. Engblom, just shut up already, JUST STOP TALKING!!!!
  11. Robviously, do you agree or disagree with my reply to you on the last page?
  12. Before last year, the Panthers have been outside the bottom 5 in attendance for as far back as I bothered to look (2000). Sometimes well outside. Glendale has been near or at the bottom for a while.
  13. Damn, that's gonna leave a mark. Until those good young players do somethng that turns into wins, nobody is going to show up. Attendance will drop considerably this year, the new owners said they will not be offering free tickets and/or last minute discounts just to fill seats. Parts of the upper level will be closed off some games and everybody will pay the same prices. http://www.thehockey...GCbTcfn4.mailto "So don’t get too excited tonight, Quebec hockey fans. The Panthers have some serious issues to clear up, but all these empty seats in the stands don’t necessarily mean there will immediately be a relocated Panthers team and filled seats in a Quebec City NHL arena. It’s not quite the sunset of hockey in Sunrise just yet."
  14. What's a sesh?
  15. I think the actual attendance for tonight's Panthers' game is 6.
  16. -It's 3 games into the season -They played the Hawks and Ducks -If you (not you personally) want losses, you can't be really picky about how they lose -Wanting losses but expecting effort and improvement sort of contradict each other. Either that or it leaves a really fine line in terms of possible outcomes.
  17. Damn, Janeane Garofolo got old.
  18. I just shake my head at Sabres fans. All off-season long there is this fascination with sucking to get the #1 pick. All off-season long fans talk about how bad this team is going to be. All off-season long all we heard from "experts" were about how bad this team was going to be. Now the season starts, and lo and behold, they suck. And now, three games into the season, fans are calling up like Chicken Little that the sky is falling and Nolan isn't the coach of the future................. three games into the season............... the last two against arguably the best two teams in the West. Un-freaking-believable. Was the effort there? Not really. But it's the 3rd game of the season. I swear, BFLO fans would bitch about how they got paid if they won the lottery.
  19. Nice. LOL @ fantasy football coming down to the last play.
  20. Damn, sounds like the bus got a crate engine with a nitrous kit during the offseason.
  21. That Cardinals interception with :20 left might have cost me a win. :wallbash: It was kinda questionable whether to start him or not based on his performance this year. I think it was a good call. At least you knew you were right in at least one league.
  22. I can't say one way or another. The NFL has taken a drastic change of direction in QB's over the last decade. 1) Teams are looking for instant gratification. It doesn't happen overnight and it rarely happens with 1st or 2nd year QB's. QB's need a couple of years to develop and teams aren't willing to wait that long. I'm not saying the Bills have, or have had, QB's that they didn't hold on to long enough..... but I'm looking at it from the perspective of a scouting department. 2) The types of QB's have changed over the last decade. For a while teams were looking for rushing QB's and it hasn't worked out favorably. Teams didn't realize that Randall Cunningham was an exception to the rule and I don't think Russell Wilson will be able to maintain his level of success once the Seahawks start having to let guys go becuase they can't afford them. But, I digress. The Bills could have tried to do more to find a good QB. But with what I mentioned above, franchise QB's are getting tougher and tougher to come by becuase of that desire for instant gratification and the uncertainty what type of QB to look for. My overall point is the Bills aren't in this situation because they have an inept front office. My overall point is that the vast majority of teams are in the same situation. My point is proven by looking at the most dominant QB's in the league. They are still the older generation. I bet if we were to look at the success rates of high drafted QB's up until say 2005, it would much higher than those drafted after 2005. (I'm using 2005 as a rough estimate to separate older generation QB's to new generation QB's because I'm sure somebody will come back with an exception to try and disprove me) I feel the best QB is the one with military-like leadership, stays in the pocket and has absolutely no emotions. The rest can be learned, unfortunately it would take a couple of years, Teams are still drafting QB's with the most talent and questionable leadership skills looking for immediate results and the vast majority of teams are stuck going through QB's every 3 years just like the Bills. Give it 5-7 years when Manning, Brady, Brees and Rodgers are out of the league. Almost every team will be going through the same routine every three years. Do I think the Bills could have done more? If they were a team a couple years removed from the playoffs then yes, they could have had time to develop a QB. But, they're 15 years removed from the playoffs and right now they need immediate results because there is no more time for waiting. If they think EJ isn't the answer, make a move to get a 1st round pick and draft somebody to learn under Orton for a year or two. Orton isn't the answer, but Orton is veteran that can teach and he is good enough to get to the playoffs.
  23. One can use Schopp's stat to say that the Bills need to keep drafting QB's until they find a good one. Then there are the fans that say the Bills need to draft QB's in the first round every year. Using Schopp's variables, the Pats have drafted one QB in the 1st round in the last 31 years. Doesn't say much for the drafting 1st round QB's philosophy.
