  1. Is it just me, or has ESPN.com been very buggy lately?
  2. I fear the upcoming onslaught.
  3. I just hope he does well.
  4. Poor Claudia, he's got to be the biggest hypocrite coach in the league.
  5. They may have been terribly outshot, but they certainly weren't outplayed. I was not impressed at all with San Jose, the Sabres deserved this win. It was a typical Ted Nolan game, exactly what we'd expect to see more often.
  6. The last time the Sabres had a winning streak they beat the Sharks, at home, on a night where Enroth got the win yet wasn't scheduled to start.
  7. Looks like Doug Allen couldn't make it either.
  8. And you didn't stop by to say hi? I see how you are.......... :P
  9. You guys are going to have some serious flooding issues when this all melts.
  10. Nah, down here it's usually canned goods and pasta. Unless you've taken preparation to the next level down here, anything that's required to stay at or below room temp is out of the question.
  11. As much as I despise the Cowboys and Tony Romo, he does put up top QB numbers pretty much year after year. Which is why I included him in my list. The reason I compared top 5 to the rest of the draft is because trading up to get a top 5 (even a top 2 or 3) pick is going to cost us huge. Trading for a lower 1st round pick will not cost nearly as much. Yes they were mostly 1st round QB's, but if they were drafted based on how they've turned out in the NFL they would have been top 5 picks. Moral of the story, QB's taken in the top 5 haven't turned out so well.
  12. People always use hindsight to say "We could have had..........." in reference to QB's that ended up making a big name for themselves, who didn't get taken at the top of the 1st round. Who's to say the Bills can't end up with a top rated QB with a 2nd round pick or late 1st rounder? Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisberger, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson (even though I think he's going to end up being a bust)............ how many of these guy were taken in the top 5? Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, David Carr, Joey Harrington, Vince Young, Jamarcus Russell, Mark Sanchez, RG III................................ all busts, all taken in the top 5. With the exception of Philip Rivers and Peyton Manning, arguably the best QB's of the last 10-15 years were all taken outside of the top 5.
  13. Good points.
  14. Sabres and Panthers both score 6 goals in one game on the same weekend. What are the odds?
  15. 9/20 (.45) Rolston 33/39 (.846) Nolan before Miller/Ott trade 10/23 (.434) Nolan after Miller/Ott trade 10/19 (.526) This year Games/Points (average per game) Seems Nolan is getting more points per game out of this years team. That's with a bunch of new players, some not here from last year. But, this year he's also got more "stable" goaltending. I say give him another 20 games to see if they start heading in the right direction. Remember, he was brought in to lead and teach the young guys. Looking at the stats, and judging by the play of Zadarov, Zemgus and Risto........... so far he's doing his job. If the veterans can't get headed in the right direction, maybe Murray needs to take some responsibility. Some of the worst players on this team for this year were Murray signings. Benoit, Meszaros, Gionta. Not saying Nolan doesn't deserve criticism, but this is hardly just his problem.
  16. Only 10 points out of a playoff spot.
  17. Exactly. Despite the lousy overall goals against this year, both our goaltenders have made some huge saves this year. Everybody has benefitted from it in the +/- so it all evens out. Plus, the fact that he is a +3 overall after 7 games says something.
  18. Food for thought for those that want to criticize Orton.......... he's started six games and has already faced the top 4 passing defenses in the NFL in terms of yards per game and is in the top 10 in QB rating.
  19. I agree, it doesn't need to change completely. Fix what's broken and move on. They've been 'changing the culture' for years now and apparently it doesn't work.
  20. This team has the potential to have a serious passing game. EJ is not the guy to handle it. Orton is not the one to blame the losses on, if it weren't for him the Bills would have been 3-6 coming into the game. Draft a pocket QB, let him spend a year under Orton next year and invest in an offensive line. I think the season could still be salvagable right now had they not insisted in believing Spiller was the answer early in the year.
  21. Or, some might overvalue defensive play for forwards? Let me rephrase that, some might think that high scoring defensive forwards are a dime a dozen. Some people realize it is simply impossible to load up on 6'4" 230# forwards that can put up 70 points. Some forwards are just meant to be scorers. Hodgson isn't bad, he just isn't meant to be on this team. He can only be as good as the players that surround him; this team is poor and most likely going to become the worst offensive team in 80 years. Hodgson cannot thrive on a team like this. Is that an excuse? No. His play has been poor. But people need to get over the fact that big, fast, and high scoring defensive forwards do not grow on trees.
  22. Sounds like a real gamble.
  23. My bad, serves me right for trusting a tweet while half focusing on the Bills game.
  24. Yet they have half the TOI as Myers and Strachan who are both -2?
  25. 11 goals allowed in the last 45 minutes.
