Yup. It's great if you get into a wreck and you're in a coma for weeks. But for small stuff, it's almost worth not letting know you have insurance. Because they usually cut you a deal. Most plans have well over $5,000 deductibles nowadays.

I have to agree with you on that. Eichel is a much better offensemen, but O'Reilly is much better on faceoffs, much better defensively, and he rarely goes in scoring slumps who can consistently finish 2nd or 3rd in points on the team. For a player who is so well-rounded, his contract was a steal. I hope he asked for a trade, it would make me feel better about the deal. You and I finally agree on something. I'm sure every player in that locker room felt the same way........... O'Reilly just had the balls to say it. Fans complain because players have turned into robots when doing interviews, but many complained when he spoke his mind. One of those lose-lose situations.

I'm going to wait it out. I think that requires a prescription and I'm not living in the state where my health insurance is. So out of network coverage costs would be through the roof. I've had a couple of small breakouts today, but for the most part everything is healing. If it doesn't get any better over the next couple of days, what you're saying is a strong consideration.

Not really sure if that grows around here. Then again I've read sumac isn't common around here. And I'm still not 100% sure this is poison sumac. But, I've never had any problems until I went into the neighbors yard.

I pulled off what I could. Mostly the small stuff on the ground. I then cut the roots going up the trees. Some are 2/3 the way up 100 foot pines so I'll never be able to pull those down. Just need to kill them and let them rot away eventually. Still have lots more to go.

Thanks for all the info everybody. Very insightful.

Could the one with the berries be a muscadine grape vine?
-
Interesting. It sounds like you know your stuff so I'm not going to question it. I thought poison sumac was more of a tree than a vine. It's going to take me a few more days to get over this, I think. Then I'm going to go out and eliminate more vines. This time with two layers of long pants and long sleeve shirt. The neighbors have given me permission to go in and try to eliminate all this crap. Well, the house behind me hasn't been sold yet and the neighbor to the east is moving soon because her house just sold. It's really not my responsibility, but we have an entire line of 12-14 white pines that are over 100' tall and I'd hate to see vines kill them. Plus the only other neighbor sharing these pines (right now) is in here 70's, I can't expect her to go out and do it. I'll have a couple of new neighbors soon, but I need to get back to South Florida and pick up my cats and my motorcycle so I'd like to get this done ASAP. Right after I stay here for the Parade of Nations at Folkmoot. Thanks for the info.

Anybody know what kind of vine this is with all the berries?

I said I wasn't going to post pics, but I will. This is what all my limbs look like. I used an anti-itch cream for the couple of days. The itching has gone away. I rub everything down with rubbing alcohol every few hours.

I'm not 100% sure if it is Sumac. It has arrowhead shaped leaves, but looking through a tree book of plants in western NC, there are several different types of plants with arrowhead shaped leaves. My next door neighbor has a giant patch of the plant I think is sumac, but I have none in my backyard. I've been working on my backyard for quite some time and nothing affected me unItil I went into her backyard to try and kill kudzu. (I kid you not, I had a kudzu vine that grew 10 feet in a week). I've heard poison ivy is more manageable and usually only leaves a rash. I also read sumac is more aggressive. But North Buffalo, you said it never bothered you, maybe I'm allergic to it. Here is a pic.

Do yourselves a favor and make yourselves familiar with what it looks like. I'm not going to post pictures, but I have hives and blisters running up and down all of my limbs. Considered going to an urgent care center, but it seems to have subsided. Pharmacist at Ingles said at this point I just need to wait it out, which could last 2-5 weeks. Have had very little sleep in the last four days, and had to go out and buy some cheap pants and love sleeve shirts so I can go out without people staring at me. This ain't fun. Luckily it didn't spread to my nether regions and my face..................... yet.

Funny, I just read this after quoting you in the other thread. O'Reilly is soft. Barkov also got nominated for Lady Byng, would you turn him down? My point is, there are role players, guys that stand up for their team. Gudas, Smith-Pelly, Reaves, Haley................ O'Reilly wasn't going to stand up for himself when he speared in the balls. But other players would step in on the next shift to make it doesn't happen again. Or, it just wouldn't have happened in the first place because they knew there was somebody on the bench waiting to beat their ass. Alas, O'Reilly is gone so this is kind of a moot point. ?

I'm just looking at what Spuddy and Boogie did with the Panthers. They're not a hard hitting team, but if you push them around, they'll push back. The Sabres have been soft for several years.
-
I think Eichel was/is a pouty, spoiled kid. O'Reilly seemed to be a better leader. I guess we'll see going forward.

I was doing great until I moved. Got back into the gym thing until I blew out my back. That set me back about two weeks. Got back into it now I'm down for weeks with poison sumac. I'd post pics, but they aren't pretty and I can't sleep. Probably gotten 6 hours in the last 3 days.

I'm going to admit, I haven't read this whole thread. But Steve Smith was a bad ass in his day. Over 2200 penalty minutes in just 800+ games. Did they bring him in to teach these guys to have some balls?

Sliding rock is a HUGE tourist attraction around here. The line is close to 100 people at times. The water is 56° right now. I cannot see how they do it.
-
I'm happy with what he has done so far, but I'm sick and tired of waiting. It's getting really old.
-
Gionta and O'Reilly out because they weren't good enough leadership................ does anybody think Eichel might be the problem? He's a great talent, but the kid needs to grow up and the team needs to realize you need to build around veterans, not spoiled young talent.

Not sure what to make of your kidney comment (?) but I agree. At this point, I'm not a fan of Housley because he doesn't seem to be a player's coach. But, I'm not going to judge based on one year. There are plenty of coaches in the league who I don't consider "player's coaches" that are doing quite well. And as much as I despise the O'Reilly trade, I'm not going to Botterill yet either. I just think it's a dumb idea to hire a rookie GM and head coach at the same time. Experience has to come into play at some point. You can always trade a nut.

I agree. Hiring the right people in the first place usually takes care of this problem. ;)

I know you're just busting my balls, lol. But, in all fairness, a couple of years ago when Vinny Viola took control of the Panthers, he thought it would be a great idea to have his team run by a GM by committee concept; in turn "demoting" Tallon to President status and no longer the GM. Vinny is a rich guy with a huge ego and he meddled in the team's affairs for a couple of years. The GM by committee deal backfired in a massive way(they were actually responsible for the Marchessault deal). When Viola realized that he made a huge mistake by demoting Tallon and creating the GM by committee, he canned that concept and made Tallon the GM once again. Viola knew he ###### up, and hasn't been heard from ever since. Tallon just sat back, knowing Viola's plan was going to backfire. If Viola hadn't meddled in the team's affairs, I would have reason to be pumping their tires right now. But, Viola's plan set them back about two years. Which, in the long run, ended up costing them a Jack Adams winner in Spuddy Gallant. The Panthers finished the year by having the best record in the NHL after the All-Star break. They have Huberdeau, Bjugstad, Trochek, Ekblad, Luongo, Reimer, Matheson (who I would trade McCabe for in a heartbeat), Barkov and Yandle signed through 2021. Some of those are signed for even longer. They finished off the season on a 25-8-2 run. I have no reason to believe this team won't be contenders for several years. And if it makes any difference, I'd take Spuddy and Boogie over Housley any day. They are coaches, Housley is a teacher. He is better suited to be an assistant.

It's alright, my bad for not being more specific. The Blackhawks players actually lobbied for the league to give Tallon a Cup ring and get his name on the Cup after their first win, even though he wasn't around when they won in 2010. Tallon had bigger things in mind and didn't want to make the mistake of wrapping up too much cap space in two or three players like he did in Chicago. He planned for long term stability. He's left himself a little breathing room under the cap, and still has the core signed for at least the next four years. Count on the Panthers being contenders for a while.
