I was making the point that I prefer to have a 555 team, I didn't make any comment about not drafting high. How many of those teams you mentioned were 555 teams that season? I can tell you four of those six most recent teams were only at, or below 560.

I don't think it's 50/50, but over the last few years the Finals have had almost as many lower seeded teams as higher seeded teams. Including two of the last three in which both teams were lower seeded. Correction: The Rangers were actually a higher seeded team last year (#4) even though they were 5th in points in the East.

So many people don't realize the win percentage over the years, how successful the Sabers have actually been. But, I'm the opposite of you. In this day and age where the hottest teams entering the playoffs are having more and more success, I'd rather have the 555 team to entertain me year in and year out instead of blowing it all on a Cup. Because a 555 team entering the playoffs on a hot streak has just as much chance to win a Cup as the #1 team.

I did find some humor in watching the Canucks feed. BFLO's first power play, the Canucks PBP guy says "Folks, here we have the leagues worst power play team against the #1 penalty kill." There was a brief pause, and then he said "Did I just jinx it?" 15 seconds later Stewart scores, as soon as the Sabres are done celebrating his sidekick says, "I'm not saying anything." I guess you had to be there.
