Why do you need to use the app for Netflix?
-
That's always an option.

Last I checked most of the higher end TV's only come in Smart version so if you want the highest refresh rate, the most HDMI inputs, etc..... you had to pay the extra to get the Smart version. Personally, I want a TV to be a TV. I'll leave the extras up to the equipment I attatch to it.

Yes, really. Especailly if you make two completely unrelated posts then others need to spend more time editing the quote so others know what you're referring to. It's not that big a deal, but it is a useless option. If we want a cleaner, more sleek interface then give posters the option of turning on/off sigs. This isn't related to the thread so I'll leave it at that. ;) All you had to do was simply answer my question when I asked two months ago and that would have ended it. Yet you decided to go with the snide comment.

I'm talking about if I quote somebody and then I want to add something of my own separate to what I was addressing to the person I quoted, it will automatically add that post right below. So it looks like it's part of the response to the person I quoted. Regardless of whether or not I quoted somebody, if I want to make two separate points it should be two separate posts because then if somebody wants to quote me it's all thrown into one quote.

Post merging is redundant when we have the 'multiquote' option. Much of the same can be accomplished with multiquote, but it makes it difficult to quote others. Just my

Fair point. Some on here take it too far. But, it's usually few and far between. Now if I go clean myself up a little, can I get away with my lesser posts? :P

I'm sure it's difficult for a noob to become familiar with the regular posters when we're allowed to change screen names every 30 days. Along with the post merging that's another setting I've never seen used on any other forum. Once you create a screen name, it's yours forever. I've been here a while and I know I gave up trying to keep track of who everybody was.

Don't bother with the Smart stuff. I've got a Smart TV and never use anything on it. Problem is the hardware is not optimized for it, the processor is slow (even the newer ones) and there is very little memory to buffer. Save the $$ and buy a Roku, it does everything Smart and does it much quicker and you have the benefit of all the added channels. Although I don't use many of the channels it is much more convenient than plugging a laptop into the TV to stream.

For me it was, this is the only board I know of that does this and there's a reason nobody does. But, to each his own.
-
Sure, I just think it makes it much easier to quote somebody when there are separate posts instead of completely dissecting one post they made that was actually five post to five different people..... just to highlight the one directed at you.

Yup, when it reaches that point it should be taken to private messages or to a new thread. One thing I do enjoy about this forum is the limited amount of people. While this is about growing the "population" one of the reasons I chose this place is because of the limited amount of members. It's more than big enough to be established but small enough to get familiar with most people in a short amount of time. It's one reason I didn't go to that other board. It does help keep derailments to a minimum. Just throw it out there! Who knows, there might be others that wish that particular thread would get back on track of the original topic.

One thing that can be intimidating to noobs is that some of the posters that are really smart will make sure everybody knows it. Even if they aren't that smart. So it's not always about the intellectual level you speak of, it's also the condescending remarks that follow making a casual fan want to leave. One thing I have noticed is most people here have an incredibly dry sense of humor. I love it, others might not catch it as quickly. Oh, and the post merging......... No other forum I'm on has post merging when there is no issues with post . Noobs that show up might think they're still stuck in 2003.

Where are you? We've only been below average 6 days in the last 4 months here. Winter passed by us with the exception of one week in February. Nevermind, I missed your previous post. I saw a weather warning last night that a Ft. Worth levee broke.

Just finished episode #28. Halfway there. Still trying to figure out which of the women is the best looking. :flirt:

Those poor people. It's been one terrible weather year for y'all up north. It's almost June, this is supposed to be the time of year people look forward to in Buffalo. 46° and rain, that's October weather. Allegheny camping weather.

That's weird, all I did was C&P that link I was at on my phone. The same link I used in post 436. I agree with what you said. It'll be interesting to see how both these guys handle things going forward.

Is it really 46° in Buffalo right now?

Superdraft - where would every NHL player get picked today?

Fair enough. I just don't think this team would be where it is now without Tallon. Although I do give Bowman some credit for getting them back in 2013, that was difficult after what he had to go through after their 2010 win. You're right, Bowman might have made some deals as a last ditch effort to push them over the top thinking they might have some bumps in the road for the next couple of years. But I can think of plenty of other options than Vermette and Timonen. But of course when you win a Cup, a lot is forgotten. I think if they win the Cup this year it won't be because of Timonen and Vermette (unless they drastically turn their game around). I didn't say they need to sign Kruger, I'm implying that they will sign Kruger. Along with Saad it will make dealing with the cap issues that much more difficult. I'll agree with you Bowman has done a good job keeping the team afloat. But do you think it's him specifically keeping the team afloat, or do you think it's the fact that Kane and Toews brings out the best in everybody? (Something Crosby and Malkin can't seem to do) It'll be interesting to see how Bowman handles this offseason. I don't think it will be as easy as 2011.

Actually, my post was clearly focusing on the future of the Blackhawks but you decided to cherry pick what you wanted out of it. I'll pay. Yes, he is riding on Tallon's coattails, without the core he brought in Bowman wouldn't have something to build around. You're right, it's been a while. But this case might be different because most teams don't have the same core six years later. Nobody said anything about trading Kane or Toews. He made decisions to keep Kane and Toews, that's not a decision that requires a genius. What does require careful planning is everything else around it. They clearly have no room to pay the rest of their team and keep what they have. Nor do they have the cap space to bring in veterans. How do you fill the holes? By developing players and riding their cheap contracts for a few years. You can't do that when you're trading all your picks away for washed up, unproductive players. A 1st pick for Vermette? Two 2nd's for a 40 year old defenseman that hadn't played for a year? Important decisions to keep the right pieces together....... like $4mil/yr for a 3/4 line forward in Bickell? I recall when many on this board fell in love with him because he had a great playoffs two years ago and I said he's not worth the money but somebody will be stupid enough to sign him. When you're one of the most cap strapped teams in the league, how do you sign a 4th line winger to a $16m/4yr contract? Now that I've addressed your point, let's address mine. I said the Blackhawks better win it this year because they're going to have difficulty getting another one in the near future. They have 5 players taking up over half the cap space, no other team in the league can say that. They still need to sign Saad and Kruger who as of this moment account for approx $2mil against the cap combined. That will be significantly higher next year. How does he rectify the situation? He's in no position to retain salary. Is anybody stupid enough to trade for, and pay, $6,000,000 a year for Patrick Sharp? $4,000,000 a year for Bryan Bickell? Dare I throw Crawford into that group? Regardless, there are plenty of teams that are grateful that Bowman had to deal away players and prospects.

The second conditional pick turns into a 2nd round pick if the Blackhawks make it to the Finals and Timonen plays in 50% of the games. He's played in 15 games so that takes care of the condition. I'll post the link later when I'm on my computer if you want, for some reason posting a link on my phone only results in this. this HTML class. Value is http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com. I'm not saying Bowman hasn't had a hand in keeping this team together. He has, it's not easy keeping together a Cup team after losing all those players. What I was saying is that moving forward is going to be very difficult and they won't be as dominant after this year. There isn't a single team in the league with over 50% of their cap wrapped up in 5 players. I'm not big on Brad Richards. Decent pickup? Sure. He's not a difference maker though. If he's their 2nd center then Bowman will have to do something to address that in the off-season. He won't be able to do it after signing Saad and Kruger. I've supported my position pretty well actually. My position was the poor deadline trades and the pending cap issues. You responded to neither.
