So with seven top 6 forwards, does this mean Stafford and Stewart aren't coming back?
-
The loophole the Flyers used with Pronger.
-
Thanks. I was wondering about that.

Here's an odd twist of unintended consequences. In 2014 Sam Gagner was traded to Tampa only to be turned around and traded to Glendale, Tampa retained salary equal to $1.6mil/yr. Today Gagner gets traded to Philly in exchange for Chris Pronger's contract and Nicklas Grossman. The Flyers retain $500,000 of Grossman's contract and Glendale takes on the Pronger mess. Here's the unintended consequences. Philly is considering buying out Gagner whose cap hit now sits at $3.6mil for this year. Since Tampa retained salary from a previous trade, the amount held against the cap for Tampa will now be reduced by half but extended out one more year. In 2016-17 Tamps will have (my own calculations) $800,000 more on their cap that they probably didn't plan on. First time I've heard of this, I wonder if this starts to become more common and if there any other loopholes teams start exploiting. Like trading a player to a team as incentive to have them trade another player in which you retained salary so it can be halved to reduce your own cap. That sounded better in my head.

Murray was two-fisting it last night.
-
Me too.

Possibly 31 and 51. Sather supposedly turned down an offer of two 2nds from a team, was rumored it was from Murray.
-
Plus nobody knows knows how Talbot can play when he's not behind one of the best defenses in the league.
-
I've never been big on spending a lot on a goaltender because I just don't think they are a huge commodity any more based on how much the position has leveled off over the years; Price and Lundqvist being outliers. But one thing to consider in Murray spending more to get a goaltender is that he has none. He was pressed to get one and didn't want to chance waiting it out. Benning and Sather had the benefit of waiting it out hoping for a better deal (didn't work) because they have starting goaltenders and had the benefit of playing the waiting game. Murray had to offer more to ensure getting it done.

On my phone, thought it moved on to the most recent posts, that was the first that popped up. My point still stands. :flirt:

Only you could criticize somebody for being grammatically correct. It's bad enough people nowadays have no grasp of the English language, it's another to mock those that do.

One thing to keep in mind, at one point BFLO had TWENTY top two round picks in a four year span. That is twelve more than teams get in the same span. There was plenty of stock available for trading while still keeping enough to replenish the farm.
-
Since next year's draft is in BFLO, I'm assuming most of you will probably attend. I highly recommend it, that was quite an experience. Not very often you can get the opportunity to see one up close and personal unless you travel a lot.
-
Are Schopp & Bulldog drunk? They're trying way too hard to sound smart. So far in the last two minutes, draft picks are used cars, a casino and a lamp. Holy crap, my head is spinning just listening to these guys!
-
I'm willing to be proven wrong. Not crazy about using a 1st round pick on him but we'll see. He does seem like a real hard ass which I like.
-
Wasting a first on either of them is ridiculous. I think there's a better chance of Anderson lasting four years than Lehner. Sorry, I just don't like the deal.
-
Just because Lehner is 23 doesn't mean he's a long term solution. His numbers aren't favorable and neither is his head.
-
Better numbers, no signs of slowing down, one of the best save percentages over the last few years and loves to face a lot of shots. Use him as a stopgap.
-
Maybe they can make Lieuwen his backup and they can both play 'how many fingers am I holding up.'
-
I'd take Anderson over Lehner for that much.
-
........................... setting the market..............................
-
I can think of plenty of other players I'd rather have to get to the floor. Great, another GM in love with his goaltenders.
-
Stupid STUPID trade....... GMBM just took his nephew to school. I wouldn't give up a first for Talbot and Lack, and I'd take both of them before Lehner.

Me too.
