Bogosian? Foligno? Nickie D? Gorges? Those are the only players with some semblance of aggressiveness. Kane will get physical, but it seems he usually only focuses on one person, usually a player he's had an issue with in the past. The Sabres got beat last night because they were outmatched physically. The Habs got under their skin and nobody took control physically. Nobody said "enough of this, I'm going to kick his ass". The Sabres got pushed around by one of the softest teams in the league, that's only possible because the Sabres are one of the softest teams in the league. And instead of looking at the real issue (the fact the Sabres weren't up by 4 goals at the time Lehner got his penalty) the biggest gripe from this game is that the goaltender was sticking up for his teammates because the only other person that would was already down on the ice taking care of somebody else (Bogosian). You might point out the hits stats and say that Montreal and BFLO are mid-pack, but that doesn't say anything about stepping up and getting physical when it's time to take control of a game. Successful teams know when to turn it on and off. If it were up to Goober, he'd leave it off every game, all game. Lehner getting physical is the very least of this team's concerns at the moment. Alas, there's finally some sliver of excitement in recent games and they'll eventually neuter Lehner and make sure that doesn't happen again.

A bitch move on Goober's part to criticize Lehner after the game because of the penalty. He seems to do that a lot, that was one of his downfalls in Pittsburgh. Whether he likes it or not, deal with Lehner in private if he thinks it's an issue. Lehner did what he thought was right, helping and sticking up for a teammate, only because there's few left on the team that actually will. I have a problem with a coach that publicly criticizes a player for sticking up for his teammates.

What exactly has he done that leads you to believe he gets distracted? He himself has said he plays better when he starts to get physically involved in the play. If you don't want to answer me, just say so, I can take it. I'd rather hear it than be ignored. The one that was deflected and had no chance on?
-
Did Scrivens really say that?
-
How does he get thrown off his game, because the two goals he allowed after the fact deflected off teammates? Because he allowed an OT to Marchand?

I had to look those up, pretty nice trails outside Philly. Any of those trails have to be a blast around fall time. Great scenery, nice weather.

Kinda funny. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/scrivens-lehner-big-boy-bit-psycho/

You're playing a team, at home, who is arguably in the biggest downward spiral, starting a 3rd string goaltender with 6 players remaining from the opening day roster. If the coaches and media are going to focus on a penalty the goaltender took that ended up in a power play goal, and not the fact that the team shouldn't have already been up by at least 3 goals............. then priorities need to change. Nobody else gives the team something to rally around, nice to see the goaltender try to do it.

I really don't see an issue with what Lehner does. If anything it probably pumps up the rest of the team more than any staged fight. If this was an important game and points meant something, maybe Lehner acts differently. But neither of these teams are going anywhere this year, it's a meaningless game, let the guy try to get his team to rally around something exciting. God knows nobody else had the balls to do it tonight. I said it a month ago, they'll neuter Lehner before you know it. God forbid we actually have a player with some personality. I don't know why this game frustrates me so much, but I'm noticing trends that don't scream progress.

Brian's really going to criticize Lehner for taking a penalty? My god this whole organization is turning into T-ball league.

If I'm going to see 100 PIM's in a game, I want to see at least 5 fights! I have multiple reasons for my disdain. Him making Ron Rolston look like John Tortorella is just one of them.
-
What an embarrassment this coach is.
-
I try to be unique. B-)
-
Ron Rolston watched Goober nod his head at the double minor on Kane and said "You're going to sit back and take that?"
-
Goober=Disco Dan Spuddy=Gerard Gallant ;)

That's not yelling. I was especially pissed when I saw him look at the asst. coach when Kane got 4. He said "He got four? OK"..... and nodded his head and turned around. This coach has no balls.

I've lost what little faith I had left in Goober. He has to be the biggest behind the bench in the NHL today. Spuddy would have been throwing on the ice and probably kicked out of the game for the 3rd time this year. I'm so sick of officials walking all over this team and Goober just sits back and takes it in the ass.

He reminds me of Ryan Miller. Does such a thing really exist? I might partake.

That's what I saw too, that was a perfectly executed defensive play.

I have NHLGameCenter (NHL.TV) and I watch all my games on Roku. For some reason the game is all hosed up on Roku so I'm trying to watch it on my computer for the first time since they switched. Is it just me or is it not possible to fast forward through the commercials that they don't play? As soon as the game starts playing I can't skip ahead or back 10 seconds once the commercials start.

Did I hear RJ with an 'a tall' a la Rob Ray?

I was just being sarcastic because all he does during the debates is give us his resume. Then again, I haven't watched a debate in a month so I could be wrong. In fact I haven't watched anything politics in almost a month. ;) By the way, I voted today and for somebody that stands no chance of winning. And I don't regret it.

Not sure that chart is accurate because in 2005 there was a massive spike in NHL scoring, higher than any other season in 21 years by a large margin.
