At this point he'd probably have more luck with Buffalo's Foligno than Columbus' Foligno.
-
Good points, and I agree. If it's a manageable contract. Hossa's cap hit is very manageable. Hossa was brought in as a complementary piece for their two studs. The Sabres have their two studs. I'm all for bringing in Stamkos as a complementary piece, not to replace one of our two studs. The question is, is Stamkos willing to accept that.
-
And that right there is my biggest concern. I've seen way to many GM's make ridiculous deals for UFA's only to be regretting the decision down the road. More often than not, it doesn't work out in the team's favor.
-
It's going to Roanoke. Asheville has become pretty saturated with microbreweries lately.
-
Nevermind, it's just not worth it.

Fair points, not sure why you need to take this so damn personally. These are opinions, mine are no more important than yours. But there's something that needs to be cleared up. No where have I said Stamkos isn't a talented goal scorer. No where have I said he doesn't have elite talent is his positioning, speed and skills. You're telling me things I already know, there's no need to prove to me how elite of a goal scorer he really is. Here is where base my claim that he is one dimensional. He is not a vocal leader, he is not a hitter, he is not an intimidator, he is not a full time penalty killer, he is not a defender, he is no where near the top in 5v5 stats and he is (granted a small sample size) not known for stepping up in the playoffs. And I have provided stats, as have others, that shows how average he is 5v5. A player that deserves an elite contract excels in more than one of those dimensions. Sorry it seems like such a chore for you to respond to me, don't take this so damn seriously. you might actually enjoy it a little bit if you didn't. ;)

Good luck to you too. If your guys can put up the G's and A's like they did last week, I don't stand a chance. -
Sigh................................. Would you care to address the rest of the post, or just grasp at straws? Eliminate special treatment and captaincy from my post............. it's still a terrible move.
-
Of course it's speculation, but it's been mentioned in here several times over. It's no different than his salary demands, we don't know that either. General consensus among SS posters, hence the reason we talk about it. It's also the general consensus that Stamkos actually wants to come to BFLO, or else there would be no reason to talk about it.
-
I'm basing it on the general consensus that he will want to be captain and he will sign a contract on the condition he is a center.
-
I kinda made that one up. :D
-
1. We have at least 4 that have scored 30 goals, another with 28.2. Of the two I included in my four, two of them have yet to even complete a full season. 3. Show me where I'm bad mouthing Stamkos. I've repeatedly said he is an elite goal scorer with one dimension. Am I wrong? 4. The facts I've posted are backed up directly from advanced stats websites, if you find them inaccurate, take it up with them.
-
Who said you need to change your stance? :D
-
No I don't. He's basically made the point that we can afford Stamkos if we work the system like the Blackhawks. I addressed that a few posts back. The Blackhawks are the exception to the rule. Ask Pittsburgh how it's worked out trying to afford a supporting cast. I appreciate his input, he addresses all angles without being condescending. Very good points.
-
A high risk, one dimensional goal scorer who would demand an elite contract, special treatment and captaincy is a terrible move. It doesn't get any more simple than that. I've backed up my points with numbers, I have yet to see the other side.
-
Ya know, Ennis hasn't scored much lately either.
-
We keep forgetting about the fact that the Sabres already have at least four 30+ goal scorers. Not this year, but soon. Why do we keep making it like there is no offensive firepower already on the team?
-
I agree. It's one factor I think about in the Stamkos discussion.
-
I'd rather have the 10 mil to spend elsewhere. Moulson's contract is easier to make go away.
-
They seemed to be pretty good when Malkin won the Hart with Crosby out.
