It's a coach's responsibility to fix dumb and lazy. They hired a "teacher" for a reason. Teams reflect their coach, Housley says they are soft. He needs to look in the mirror. 11-17-5 since their 10 game win streak. Schneider's 1st win as a starter in his last 21 starts. How embarrassing.

I should reword what I said. Most would be more than happy just to get to a playoff game. But, there would be too many who would find something to bitch about.

I was around for all the Super Bowls. I think the Buffalo sports scene has changed a lot since then. I'm not criticizing BFLO fans, after this latest run the last several years by the Sabres, and the Bills being a laughing stock for two decades, I can't blame anybody.

That's a fair assessment. Not directing that at PA, but BFLO sports in general. The Sabres could win the Cup and BFLO fans would bitch how they did it.

I don't think they'll need to move anybody. Moulson's $3.9 comes off after this year, Pominville's $5.6 comes off at the end of this year. There's over $9mil right there and Skinner is already making close to $6. Let's go extreme and say the Ballerina got $10mil/yr. The team would only need $mil extra so they still have an extra $5mil laying around. I'm not against re-signing Pominville for some veteran leadership if he doesn't retire, but there's no way he's getting the $5.6mil he used to make. Maybe $2mil.

A agree. A team is usually a reflection of their coach. Back in the day when there were only one or two assistants, the head coach needed to be involved more. Nowadays with 12 assistants behind the bench and another ten upstairs, the head coach needs to be a cheerleader. Housley is not a cheerleader, he is a teacher.

I agree with you. But this is supposed to be the year they made a significant jump. And they have, they've already eclipsed last years team, with 20+ to go. If they make the playoffs, GREAT! But they may become the 2nd tesm in NHL history to have a 10 game win streak and not make the playoffs. I'm good with that, they didn't deserve the 10 game win streak. But, they do, however, deserve the improvement they've brought to the league. At this point, I think the Ballerina is probably more important than Eichel. But I'm comparing Kane and Toews. I've put my eggs in Botterill's basket (hope that doesn't sound too bad? My 1B and 1A team will be decided on what happens during the offseaon. I worded that incorrectly....... THEY will be decided, not my mind. Sabres will always be my 1A.

I think you have to play up to your fan base. People in BFLO know their hockey like the back of their hand. Go to Sunrise, it's great to have Potvin, Moller and then Goldie doing PBP. He has two other people to take care of and he's done a pretty good job and letting each one talk and still call the game. I usually still turn them off because Goldie's voice could shatter glass. Sabres fans just need background noise, they know what's going on. And Ray and RJ have become pretty funny over the last few years.

They may not make the postseason this year, but it's going to be a vast improvement. I haven't been around so I'm this has been noted, and please, if I copied somebody, take credit for it. They've already beaten last years total and still have 26 games to go. It's going to be a major disappointment to become the 2nd team in NHL history to win 10 straight and not make the postseason. But. to get this close when they expected this year to be the last step towards being a playoff team......... I can't complain, because nobody expected to be there in the first place.

I wouldn't go that far. They will potentially have three 1st round picks after this year. Whether it's low or high, first round picks usually pan out. I hated losing O'Reilly, he is borderline all-star. But having either three 1st rounders this year, or two this year and two next year says a lot for the future. I'm not happy that they might become the second team in NHL history with a 10 game win streak and not make the playoffs, but the fact that they were dead last for two straight years and are now in playoff contention has me excited. I'm still thinking Housley has to go, but the roster is stacked. Re-signing the ballerina is a must, though.
