This was Kuli's best year. In the past he had a tendency to take penalties and make bad plays at inopportune times. He has minimized these significantly in the past year. As has been mentioned, Kuli will go out of his way to make plays instead of sitting back, and he has learned when to make these plays. It was his downfall for the first couple of years. He is not a fighter. He also isn't a huge hitter, if I had to guess without looking up stats, he's probably half the hitter Foligno, Kane and Nickie D are. But he doesn't go out of his way to shy away from hits and he won't hesitate to stick up for a teammate. Take his point totals for what it's worth. He's played on some pretty bad power play teams. I don't think he will turn out to be a huge point scorer, but he is perfectly capable of handling the puck and playing on a power play unit. I think if he's given a chance to be a number #1 D pairing and/or a #1 PP pairing, he just might flourish. Before this year, I wasn't sure if he would pan out, but he improved significantly this year leading me to believe he might improve even more. Kuli's gone through some serious roster and management changes over the years, there aren't too many players in the league that have seen so many coaches and teammates as him. Would be nice to see him re-sign at the end of the year and see how he can play with some stability. I've gotten the impression that Pysyk has hit his ceiling. Which isn't a bad thing. He's an ideal top 4 D-man with great possession numbers and he's one of the smartest players on the ice. He does what a D-man is supposed to do, defend. This trade is apples vs. oranges. Two totally different players. I really don't see a reason to pick a winner in the trade, it was just two teams looking for something different.

I think many tend to undervalue Kane. No way I part with him.

So Toronto and Ottawa are the two teams the Sabres play five times this year. And they play all four against the Bruins before New Year's?

I'm scratching my head here........

Silly season is kicking in to high gear.

You're probably right, he's not that clever. I knew something didn't seem right when I saw it was a 5 year deal.

I never fall for that crap. I should just ban myself for the rest of the offseason.

Yup, nothing to see here.

I bought a Trek X-Caliber, which is a hardtail mountain bike (no rear suspension). It's more aggressive than a hybird, but less aggressive than a dedicated trail bike. Some call it a cross country bike. I've been using it mostly for road biking right now. It's perfectly fine for road biking/commuting, it's just a little slower than a hybrid, and even slower than a road bike because of the gearing and wide tires. If you don't plan to hit anything more aggressive than gravel/hard pack, a hybrid will be perfect. Especially one with front suspension. That is, if you prefer an upright riding position. I can't help you with local stores, but do yourself a favor and go to a bike shop instead of a chain sports store. You'll get better input. If you can't decide which size frame, go and test drive certain bikes. The charts aren't always right. I'm only 5'9" and everybody said I needed a 17.5" frame. I test drove it and I didn't like it. Had to go with an 18.5". Not sure about what you plan to spend, but it seems GT, Giant, Trek, Specialized......... the're all pretty reputable and it's a matter of personal preference. If you see a base model and want to step up a notch to a bike with upgrades, the first I recommend is hydraulic disc brakes. You will not regret the decision. As far as bike pants, if you get the right seat and adjust it correctly, you won't need them. I've been making some real long trips lately and I haven't had any issue wearing your standard athletic shorts.

Perhaps I was wrong about this thread.

Anybody hear about the Muslim doctor who spoke at an Islamic center in Orlando a few weeks ago talking about the only solution for homosexuality is death? Seems as though he makes his rounds all over spreading the word.

Good points. I just figure winter makes it more difficult. I know I spent a lot of time with indoor soccer and floor hockey during the winter. I agree, it does make for a better workout. The cool, crisp air makes it a hell of a lot easier to breathe. Summer down here makes a strenuous workout outdoors very difficult.

Are we seriously looking for outlying factors to justify his actions? Placing blame on the people of social media, placing the blame on homophobes, placing the blame on religious scrutiny? Aside from social media (which also took the form of peer pressure before the internet) all of this existed previous, and according to some this is a new phenomena.

Congrats! If only some people knew how much of a difference even a little bit of exercise does for them. Just like everything else, at first it's so difficult to stick with it because it's not routine. But once it becomes a routine you find yourself feeling guilty if you miss a day. It has to be difficult for those of you up north having to keep up during the winter months when it narrows down your options.

Absolutely. I shouldn't have used the word 'good' to describe him. He's one of the greatest. Very professional and takes his job seriously. Hopefully it's something he can beat, haven't heard any other details.

Dave Strader diagnosed with cancer. No other details. He's one of the few good announcers left in professional sports. Best of luck. http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2016/06/13/stars-announcer-dave-strader-diagnosed-with-cancer/

Thanks. That means a lot. If I've said anything to you that was out of line, then I extend the same apologies. What tends to dissuade me from spending any significant time in this thread is the stereotypical name-calling of right wingers by those who will turn around and get upset when their opinion isn't taken seriously. I'm not going to list the words used, or who used them. Mostly because I just blow it off and see no reason to note them. Then there are people like d4rk who came flat out and called anybody a moron that questions why our President doesn't mention radical Islam. I enjoy coming into this thread to see contrasting viewpoints, but it's so difficult to get into a serious discussion when it's apparent your opinion won't get taken seriously simply because you're not a liberal........... or at least have taken a liberal position on the topic at hand. This doesn't apply to everybody, of course. Like Eleven said, I leave the thread for a while. Mostly because the childish antics get old and it's just not worth the aggravation of hoping for a civilized dialogue. And based on a few snippets I've read since your post, it's apparent nothing has changed in some cases. I see the social media types, the ridiculous memes, the regurgitated talking points from people who are uninformed; and I'm referring to both sides of the aisle. I understand it's difficult to take people seriously when a large segment of the population has no clue what they're talking about. I understand the passion many have for their beliefs and sometimes the discussion might get out of hand, I'm sure I have been guilty of it along the way. If a discussion gets out of hand and a regretful comment is made, I try not to hold it against anybody for reasons I just mentioned. It's the repeat offenders that get on my nerves. This is a relatively intelligent forum, there is no need to treat anybody like they're morons. If you ave a comment to make because you disagree with what was said, state your reasons for disagreeing. State your reasons why you think they're wrong. State your reasons why that person may have been out of line. If you need to degrade yourself by stooping to personal attacks, then maybe you shouldn't be here. Please note, this is a general statement. In no way am I directing this at you. ;) I'm with you, never was a big Newt fan. You're right, it's going to be a long time before we see bipartisanship again.

Hard to believe he's barely 34 and already has 1,100+ games under his belt.

I still think Pillsbury deserved it, but you make a great case for Corsby. I forgot about the 3 GWG's in the conference finals. If anything, Sullivan deserved the Conn Smythe. The fact that they won the Cup because of a solid team game says wonders for the head coach. There weren't any standouts, everybody contributed. Sullivan took that team from the mess they were to the best team in the league over the last few months.
-
That was a poor choice for Conn Smythe. Murray deserved it more than Crosby, Pillsbury more than Murray. They don't make it to the final without Pillsbury.

You should probably note the tone of your posts before telling us all about how this is a two-way street. I've said nothing offensive, derogatory or disrespectful all day. Then you come in and tell me to leave, and follow it up by telling us how it's my fault you responded the way you did. Open your eyes, the typical leftists here are in attack mode the moment they see a differing viewpoint. Even you insist on arguing about how Newt got elected when the point was how bipartisanship balanced a budget. Even Neo doesn't post here often any more, he's been attacked just as often. He's no different, he's just more tolerant than he should be. Like I said, I can take a hint. I've now seen the other side of you I was undecided whether or not existed.

No, telling me to leave the thread is childish. This place has a tendency to show its true colors when there is a slight difference of opinions, especially when it's a minority opinion. This place is a bit more tame than most places I visit, but it's also one of the most closed-minded. Introduce a differing point of view and the personal attacks start coming. It's probably one reason why BuffaninATL and Sizzle don't spend much time in here any more. I can take the hint. You make me question why I even bother coming back here.
