  1. I voted Power but I’ve loved watching JJP develop. I don’t know if we have anyone that works along the boards the way he does and once he adds some more weight to his frame I think in 2-3 years he could be a combo Jochen Hecht/Vaclav Varada type player - effective puck possession in the corners and on the wall, but can also chip in 20+ a year.
  2. So true, unless you go see Cypress Hill. Probably the only group I’ve ever seen that actually knows how to set up and sound great live.
  3. Yes, the number one dog bred for fighting is also the number one dog responsible for bites. That checks out but is not evidence not this breed can just “snap”. And they bite family more likely because a lot of these abused dogs end up at shelters or rescues, or people don’t know how to properly train and/or raise a dog. There are a lot of nuances that go into raising a dog, and the larger and/or stronger a dog is (no matter the breed) it requires more work. Unfortunately a lot of people overestimate their ability and willingness to dedicate the proper amount of time to their dog, and then people start blaming the dog and not the person.
  4. This This blanket statement is 100% not true. Pit bulls don’t “just snap.” The only dogs I’ve ever been bitten by are a pug and a golden retriever. Pits are high energy and require a dedicated owner to keep them busy, but they are not a naturally violent animal. Ive had two pits and I will always have one for the rest of my life. They are some of the most sweetest, loyal dogs you can get, and the hysteria around them is misplaced at best. They might look scary and have the capability to do a lot of damage, but so do I. People can believe whatever they want, but a properly raised pitbull may be the most loyal and loving pet you ever own. I know the two I’ve had have been two of my favorite pets of all time, but like any dog, they require an owner that trains them correctly from a young age.
  5. You can’t teach heart, but a good leader can teach a young team how to play with it game in and game out. He’s that guy. Welcome back Kyle.
  6. I think it was 5 goals but I remember Miller being near tears after that game. Levi seems to have that same drive towards excellence.
  7. This is kinda where I’m landing too: the league should’ve handled this better. Besides soccer, I can’t think of another league out there that is this culturally diverse. And unfortunately some countries have archaic laws and views that can lead to legal repercussions, which is a big deal when you are in the type of work that requires a visa. NHL players supporting LBGQT pride is something to celebrate. It seems asking players to volunteer to wear pride jerseys during a warmup instead of mandating it would have protected each players personal choices, while still celebrating and respecting everyone’s differences. It was a huge missed opportunity, especially if it was supposed to accomplish anything besides virtue signaling, because no one is better for it today. Except for me, and my $50 level 100 tickets I scooped up this morning…
  8. Regardless of the the reasoning, I’m thankful I was able to get such a great price on 100 level seats today!
  9. If Tage can’t go this is gonna be a huge opportunity for Mitts play on a line between Skinner and Tuch. Mitts has looked really fast and hungry lately.
  10. Tom Green is at helium next weekend. I grabbed tickets for the Friday show. Wanted get tickets to the Saturday show because it’s April 1st but didn’t work out with everyone’s schedules…
  11. Creating a thread to discuss all things comedy. Upcoming shows, good acts, bad acts, new venues, etc. PS: I grabbed tickets to Bad Friends in Rochester in June with Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino. I can’t wait!
  12. These types of gigs have always had restrictions. This is not a new phenomenon. Personally I think this is a good sign. It’s good that comedians no longer have to play corporate and college gigs because they have other avenues for cash, namely podcasts. Today, a comedian that doesn’t take a college gig indicates one of two things to me: 1) they don’t need the money 2) they aren’t creative enough or bold enough to perform their act in an “unfriendly” space. And if #2 is the reason their act probably isn’t that great in the first place… Sorry to sidetrack the thread. Shalom Levi! Go Sabres! Edit: I created a new thread aboot comedy. Not sure how to move these posts over there though…
  13. This is just simply untrue. There are 499 comedy clubs in the US, they have seen a 1% year over year decline the last 5 years, and they have a projected market size of $330M in 2023. Source below (albeit not to APA standards). It’s almost like a decisive narrative was introduce into the public discourse for the benefit of a few and somehow has made its way to a non-playoff teams message board as a pithy comment while the user is unaware their acceptance of that narrative continues to perpetuate it to no benefit of their own. Now THAT is comedy… 😂😂 Todah for involuntarily coming to my Ted Talk. https://www.ibisworld.com/industry-statistics/market-size/comedy-clubs-united-states/
  14. Even if you expedite a visa it will take 3-4 days minimum. Unless you personally go to the consulate or whatever the government agency is that deals with these things. My company uses a 3rd party that specializes in expediting visas and it is always a pain. It can go a little faster if you have duel citizenship or had been approved for a visa for that country in the past.
  15. Casey has come a long way, but I’m not sure he has a place on this team unless he can start burying more high chance opportunities. In my mind Quinn has already surpassed him on the depth chart.
  16. I just saw this too. He shut her down and then shooed her away like a barn animal. I’m curious to see how he defends it but looks like he turned off his social media accounts…
  17. Same here. Peters and Rivet have spoke about Greenway almost every episode the talk potential, trades which is the only reason I was aware of him.
  18. I think the lack of available cap space is driving prices higher this year.
  19. These Tampa announcers always have such terrible takes. The color commentator just said “you are allowed to check from behind as long as you don’t cross check them, but there is no rule against checking someone from behind.” Rule 608 does not say that whatsoever.
  20. It cost Toronto A LOT to make that salary work with their cap. I’m shocked he was allowed to make this trade. This screams “last ditch effort” to make it out of the first round. It’s great for him either way though. If it works he looks like a GM that isn’t afraid to make hard decisions to push his team to the next level, if it fails he gets fired and starts over with a new team with actual assets left to work with. Well played doobie.
  21. $1.2M that he claims. The underground reptile market is absolutely crazy (the Tiger King reference isn’t far off) and when he was with the Sabres he frequented a reptile place in Lockport that regularly gets in trouble or fined for illegal sales.
  22. The only remaining contract negotiations that matter this year are for Dahlin, Power, Levi, and UPL. Power should sign his first. 8 for 8. Levi should sign his entry level deal next and play the next 2-4 years in Rochester. The fact the Sabres have no goalies on contract in a 2 years is too enticing to return to college. Once Levi signs his deal GMKA will move to extend UPL for another 3-4 years promising him the starter role. I’d like to see a 3 year extension, but it may take 4 to get him to sign. Dahlin signs his extension on day 1. Krebs should see a similar bridge deal that Tage got 2x3. Sabres also sign Jost to make up for losing Z or Okposo. Okposo is fine at 1.75x1, and Z at 2.5x2, but either could be replaced by UFA veterans, just hopefully not both of them. Bryson hasn’t even earned his current contract yet so no extension there. I also don’t expect them to extend Joker until next season, if at all.
  23. I don’t think it will hit 12. GMKA is going to sit him down and say “yes Rasmus, you are without a doubt a $12M+ dollar player any day of the week, but we want this team to be a cup contender for the next decade and managing the cap like Tampa Bay does will get us there. This deal will give you the best chance of skating that cup around the rink at least once, but hopefully multiple times.” Dahlin will look up with his blue eyes and blond hair flowing magnificently in the wind (which is weird because they are indoors) and say “you had me at cup contender for a decade.” Make it happen GMKA.
  24. Team friendly deal: $85M ($10.65Mx8years) My prediction: $92M ($11.5Mx8 years)
  25. Grabbed tickets last night because I expect the crowd will be rocking from Sabres recent play and Dahlin’s love letter, and because I want to see a dejected Hurricanes team skate off the ice at the end of 60min.
