Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
nfreeman replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I saw Licorice Pizza in a theater this evening — only the 3rd time I’ve been to one since March 2020. It was nice to go to a theater and the movie was pretty good. If you like PT Anderson’s movies, you’ll like this one. -
From the Athletic's post-aborted-WJC column giving impressions of a bunch of players: When Chara was in his (very long) prime, one of the underrated qualities that made him an elite defenseman was that it was basically impossible to dump-and-chase into his side of the ice (plus a decent chunk of the the other side). His range and smarts, plus decent puck skills, enabled him to retrieve the puck and get it out of the d-zone just about every time. If we're very lucky, Power will bring that to the table. It won't happen right away, but as he learns the NHL game, it might happen, and it could be transformative.

Interesting. Thanks. -
The Progressive ones about becoming your parents crack me up every time though.

I want to watch Yellowstone but I can’t bring myself to sign up for another streaming service just for 1 show. -
Interesting. I spoke with someone recently who is having the same problem on his smart tv. I have no problem on Roku, fire stick, PC, iPhone or iPad.
-
Yes -- I recommend it. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well and you can access it from anywhere on roku, PC, phone, tablet, etc. It also has DVR functionality -- i.e. you can watch a 7:00 pm game from the beginning even if you are busy until 8:00 pm.

This is kinda heavy, but here goes: we received an email from my daughter's high school informing us that one of her basketball teammates suddenly became very ill over Christmas weekend and died. She was 15 years old and an excellent athlete (and didn't have asthma or diabetes or any other serious condition that my daughter knew of). I cannot imagine what her parents must be going through.

GDT- Sabres at Islanders, 12/30/2021, 7:30pm ET, MSG, WGR

They certainly had quite a bit of lineup disruption last night, especially on D, but still. They got dominated by a non-playoff team, and UPL looked pretty shaky. thought in particular their passing was off target, their forechecking was meh and NJ was able to keep the game in the Sabres' end most of the game. I'm hoping for a much better performance tonight. -

I got about 30% of the way through “Don’t look up” on Netflix and bailed. Not funny. -

Thanks, but I don't see options for "paste unformatted" or "paste text only" anywhere (either in SS or when I right-click after copying something)? -

NJ Line combos (does anyone know how to copy and paste from dailyfaceoff? For some reason it doesn't work anymore like it used to.) Pavel Zacha - Nico Hischier - Jesper Bratt Janne Kuokkanen - Jack Hughes - Yegor Sharangovich Andreas Johnsson - Dawson Mercer - Jimmy Vesey Jesper Boqvist - Michael McLeod - Nathan Bastian Ryan Graves - Dougie Hamilton Jonas Siegenthaler - P.K. Subban Ty Smith - Damon Severson -
I agree with most of this, but would point out that (i) every now and then a big name FA can indeed have a huge impact -- but it's a very tricky business to find the right one and (ii) under OSP, the Sabres failed miserably at signing their own, which was why either the best or 2nd-best team they ever had fell apart, and which is the critical part of franchise-building where I am pretty confident TP will not let us down, if we ever get there.

Well, I thought the game was there to be won or lost in the 4th quarter, and JA won it for the Bills. If he hadn't played maybe the best and most clutch stretch of football in his life in that quarter, I think the Pats could easily have won the game. I don't think the D had anywhere near that level of impact on the outcome. I saw one drop by Sanders, one pass from JA that was well behind Knox and one from JA to a wide-open Kumerow that was overthrown, necessitating a dive by Kumerow and what would've been a great catch to reel it in, which he was unable to make. And I didn't say the Pats' passing game did fine. I said their offense did fine moving the ball. We can close ranks and pretend all we want that JA hasn't had lousy games this year, or missed throws in what was overall a great game by him, or we can be objective. IMHO, the objective reality is that if JA plays like he did yesterday, they can beat anyone in the playoffs (and, as a bonus, he's one of the most thrilling athletes in pro sports). But he doesn't always play like that.
-
The Bills' pass D didn't win that game. The Pats did fine moving the ball, including via the pass. The Bills won because JA played at an MVP level in the 4th quarter. If he plays like that they can beat anyone.
-
Best 4th quarter of the season for JA and the offense.
-
Ok. This next drive could be the whole season. Time to step up boys.
-
Great, clutch drive by the Bills.
-
That’s 2 open receivers in the end zone that JA has missed, for a resulting total of 3 points instead of 14. If they lose this game — that’s the reason.
-
I freaking love Diggs.
-
Need to cash in here. They can’t squander another possession with good field position against this team. And they were pretty lucky on that 4th down pass to diggs, as the pats deflected it at the line.
