Evander Kane arrested on misdemeanor charge for June nightclub incident

I just thought it was "if they knew then what they knew now..." -- which is likely true but IMHO not particularly surprising. -

Not sure Dreger really said anything compelling there. Who would trade for someone certain to get arrested and accused of sexual assault? -
You need to tone it down. It's important for the conversation here to be respectful -- not filled with sarcasm, insults and caustic remarks. The bolded statements are not OK.

FIFY. -
I agree with the bolded (although probably not with your choice of candidate!).
-
I think in order for this to be convincing, you need some specific quotes. You also need to lay off the personal accusations. Everyone is bringing his/her own personal views to this thread -- that's why they're here.
-
OK -- time to take it down a notch.

I missed on almost all of "em.

That was a very disappointing performance by TT. At one point in the first half, McCoy had gotten the ball on something like 12 out of 15 plays. From my vantage point at the stadium, Sammy was in single coverage multiple times and didn't get a look. IMHO he should get the ball every single GD time he's in single coverage. At least the D looked well improved.

GDT: Buffalo Bills @ Baltimore Ravens 9/11/16

Trent Edwards lives! -
If this was directed at me, I will note that I have said several times that the mistake was not taking a flyer on Seantrel in the 7th round -- it was constructing the team to rely on someone who shouldn't be relied on. Separately: in a fairly shocking turn of events, my wife has agreed to get up at 6:00 AM tomorrow and road trip with me to Baltimore, where we'll be tailgating and attending the game with 3 of my closest friends and their wives. It's going to be a long day, especially the drive back afterwards, but I'm pretty psyched. Also, the long TBN article on Sammy Watkins this past week was excellent. He really comes from a terrible place. Good for him for getting to where he is.

If that had happened, wouldn't he or his agent have said so by now?

Gotcha. I agree. -

Do you not agree with the statement you quoted? -
Well, I must admit to being a bit mystified here -- both at the strange point you seem determined to double down on (i.e. that I have some kind of irrational animus towards those who smoke pot), and at the fact that you seem to not believe me as to what my opinion actually is -- despite the words in my posts. Let's review the timeline of posts here. First, Hoss said this: My first post on this topic was 26 minutes after Hoss' post, in which I said this: I frankly don't see how you could read those posts and come to the conclusions you apparently have come to. Even if those posts didn't exist, it's not clear to me why you would disbelieve my subsequent posts as to what my opinion is on this, or why you would post your statement of disbelief -- i.e. "I know you said X, but I think you really don't think X and that you really think Y." But here we are.

Another example of why it's important to wait until the facts are in: http://reason.com/blog/2016/09/09/female-student-admits-to-incredible-lie -
Regardless of whether you view the towers, during their existence, as a crass monument to capitalism/greed/whatever, it's important to remember that 3000 people died there in a horrific inferno from hell. That's why the coke zero display is offensive.

Highly offensive, IMHO.

What Are You Most Looking Forward To This Season?
nfreeman replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
I don't have much new to add here. In order: 1. Eichel and Reino as sophomores 2. Okposo and Ennis as new scorers on the wings 3. Kane with a major chip on his shoulder 4. Risto with a better partner in Kulikov and another year's experience 5. McCabe as a sophomore 6. Bogo with a healthy camp and start to the year 7. Lehner with a healthy start to the year 8. Zemgus with a chip on his shoulder in a contract year and in his 2nd year with a real NHL coach 9. One of the kids -- likely Nelson, Bailey, Fasching or Nylander -- seizing a spot in the lineup -
My concern is that I am pretty confident that the NHL will continue to have heads up rectums and thus offensive constipation will continue to grow. The NHL had 28 players with 30 goals last year, including TWO with more than 41 and only 9 with more than 33. That is freaking pathetic. So while I'd love to see Jackie boy put up 35, the odds are against it.

Well, you managed to miss my point by a country mile. The point is not that I think using pot, by itself, denotes bad character. I have no problem whatsoever with anyone smoking pot as long as it doesn't affect others. The point is that using pot, when you have agreed not to use it and have taken millions of dollars as part of that agreement AND you know that using it will get you suspended and thus hurt your team (and thus the livelihoods of your teammates, coaches, etc), denotes poor character. Now, if you disagree with that, fire away.
-
Not sure what your point is here. Do you find him not credible because he attributes his community's support for Trump to something other than bigotry?
-
What? The point is not that he was a seventh round pick. The point is that his character is such that you can't rely on him,l, but the Bills do rely on him.
-
So you didn't read it, eh? You've gotten all the info you need from other, more reputable sources? As it happens, that piece was written by a Yale law grad who came from poor white Appalachia. He doesn't have much good to say about the GOP. You might find it interesting if you can get past the horrifying publication.

I think that on the occasions I have used "bloodthirsty Muslim" -- ie in connection with one of the distressingly frequent incidents of bloodthirsty mass murder committed by a Muslim -- it has been justified. PA, who is more concerned about fracking, "corporations" and the evils of the "Christian right" than he is about mass murder, apparently disagrees, as is his right (heh). I will also point out that PA has just today defended DeLuca's calling someone here a "white supremacist," but then denied any hysteria -- in much the same way he denied speculating about TP discontinuing the Toronto series. It was...Clintonian, really. In any case, here's another good and topical piece about race relations: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/439431/race-relations-getting-worse-america-why
