Interesting. I agree with this.

I vote keep unless a knock-socks-off trade offer is received, which I think is highly unlikely. There is NFW he is exposed in the expansion draft. BUT I have a little, nagging suspicion that all is not happy behind the scenes with the Sabres and Kane. I see no joy from him on the ice, even when he scores. He congratulates his teammates, and sticks up for them in scrums, and plays hard -- but something seems off. Maybe they read him the riot act after his legal scrapes last summer and told him they were going to ship him out for the first decent offer. Maybe he thought no one defended him and he felt betrayed. Maybe the rumors from Winnipeg were true and he's a self-absorbed jerk whom no one can stand. Or maybe I'm imagining the whole thing. But I won't be surprised if he's traded. (Although I will be disappointed, because I like his game.)

If Perreault doesn't make the list, it's a BS list. Pretty impressive schnoz on Elmer Lach.

please please please don't suggest Zemgus/Foligno/Gionta/other spare parts for him...

"Little person trainer," if you don't mind. We keep it correct here at SabreSpace.

I think that's pretty optimistic. I'd guess at least McCabe and this year's #1. I could see any of those 3 picking up Gionta at the deadline as a consolation prize if their top choice goes elsewhere.

Well, 'tis true that they are both smallish scoring forwards who haven't delivered as much as their potential might indicate -- but I think Ennis has been waylaid with injuries, while Roy was a party boy who (understandably) loved being an NHL player more than he loved working to reach his potential. And Moulson. Yeccchhh.

Glad you're back, Qwk. Speaking of guys on the outs who have gotten another chance -- Ennis is skating again. I think he can turn the corner and become a productive player if he's finally healthy. His speed, if he still has it, is his money maker. Without it, he's JAG and probably won't get another NHL contract. But if he's regained it, I think he can be a good top-6 forward. I wouldn't mind seeing him with ROR and Zemgus.

Wow. Gruesome. 2 or more? Not "more than 2" goals? Assuming you're right, that's pretty remarkable. I wonder what the league stats on that look like. Very nice. I don't have much to add to the game discussion generally, but I will say that Winnipeg's 3rd goal directly resulted from Lehner sloppily depositing, after a weak shot from the half-wall, a big juicy rebound right onto Armia's stick on the doorstep. -

How's the internet connection in your glass house? -
My vote is for some kind of hot sandwich with melted cheese. A philly cheese steak works. In Brooklyn there is a Cuban sandwich that is good enough that I would order it outside the arena.

Without First Overall Picks Has Our Rebuild Been Delayed?
nfreeman replied to woods-racer's topic in The Aud Club
I think the Sabres would've chosen Ekblad over Reino, and McD over Eichel, and would've been justified in doing so, and would've been better off now, because both of the guys they didn't get are better than the guys they got. And if McD had resulted in Babcock -- a huge if, btw -- that would've resulted in additional improvement. -

Without First Overall Picks Has Our Rebuild Been Delayed?

This strikes me as a pretty obvious "yes" -- ie it's pretty obvious that the Sabres would be better if they had better players. -
Awesome.

Doohickie makes a great point about neighborhood. I'd also suggest that if you consider whether you can swing buying a place in a hot neighborhood, with the idea that you would rent it out if and when you're ready to leave. (Even better if it has a basement apartment or other rental unit.) If you're handy and have the time and inclination, you can buy a fixer-upper and do the work yourselves over time. That way you amortize closing costs, get the benefit of long-term appreciation and can sell as and when you are ready.

D4rk -- if you're only going to be in a house for as little as 2-3 years, you should not buy. Leaving aside short-term market shifts, you will spend a ton in transaction costs, both coming and going, that will eat up any savings you might earn relative to renting. There is also the high risk of being unable to sell in a timely manner when you are ready to leave.

I too like the automatic delay of game rule, although I don't think its effect has been quite as substantial as WR posits.

Not that it matters, but there are 5 incorrect apostrophes in this post. However, the substance is spot on.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
nfreeman replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
My wife and I have been watching "The Crown" on Netflix. It's pretty good, but not great, and pretty slow in some spots. The reason I mention it is that in the episode we watched last night, the actor who plays Stannis Baratheon on Game of Thrones has a pretty big role as Winston Churchill's portrait artist. He was really good, but it was a bit strange as he was almost physically unrecognizable, but the voice was the same.
