Well, I don't think they would've saved Jamie from incineration only to drown him a minute later. Someone -- probably Bronn, whom I think is the one that saved Jamie -- will fish him out IMHO.

That was a freaking great episode. I think top 5 of all time. I trust no one was disappointed with the budget for battle and dragon scenes? As Qwk noted, the Brienne-Arya scene was great. For that matter I thought all of the Winterfell scenes were great (and I'm not sure how anyone could be unhappy with the lighting of the outdoor winter scenes in the weirwood). And that final battle scene was incredible. Are we sure it was Bronn who saved Jamie?

Swamp -- if you have HBO, the top 3, without question, are The Sopranos, The Wire and Deadwood. Then Game of Thrones, if you liked The Lord of the Rings but you want an R-rated version. Or Curb Your Enthusiasm, if you want a comedy. After that, I would go with Mad Men, which is now on Netflix, and Catastrophe, which is on Amazon. Then, The Americans, which I think is also on Netflix. And if you can handle subtitles, Deutscheland 83, which I think is on Netflix. The Office and Parks & Recreation are 2 other really good comedies that are probably on Netflix or Amazon. -
If they were in the freezer until Wednesday night, and then immediately into the fridge, I would cook and eat them until Saturday night without thinking twice and probably be willing to roll the dice and eat them on Monday night.

Well, Pommer could be viewed as an Ennis replacement. -
Air travel. Flight last night cancelled. Rebooked for a 6:30 AM departure today -- which required a 4:20 AM wake up. Arrived at the airport and was greeted by an 80-minute delay, plus long lines at security. Yuck.

I too would like to come but can't commit yet. Hopefully SFiNS and I and the other latecomers will enjoy the game from the Pegulas' box... -
I think when today's posts were deleted, the thread dropped down a few pages, since the most recent posts before today were several weeks ago.

The thread wasn't deleted -- just today's 2nd-thoughts material. So hopefully everything is copacetic. Boy, if life were only like that...

Bump. (Regretted content has been removed.) Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Again: the fact that other teams overpay JAG forwards isn't a good reason for the Sabres to do so. Prudent cap management requires GMs to keep their cap powder dry so it can be used on real difference-makers. You mentioned Sheary -- Pittsburgh is a good example: http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/pittsburgh-penguins/cap/-- they aren't paying any JAG forwards more than $1.1MM. The Sabres look like they are moving in that direction -- i.e. their stars are going to get paid and young/cheap guys will cycle through the lower spots in the rotation. As for Foligno, perhaps it's not a coincidence that he was traded before JBott had to pay him $2.5MMish per year. In any case I agree that it's a good price for Beaulieu.
-
Just because a number of other teams have overpaid for JAG forwards doesn't mean doing so is prudent cap management. Beat me to it. Of course, as you say, the proof will be in the pudding. If Housley and the new defensemen are good, then JBott has done quite a bit more than tie his shoes.
-
Weber was not on the ice when that happened. It was Pommer, Vanek, Gaustad, Myers and Sekera. Weber was a very tough player (although a mediocre fighter) and a good soldier who overcame his limitations and put together an 8-year NHL career.
-
I too like the job JBott has done so far. Calm, steady, prudent and effective. I disagree with the bolded though. Good cap management does not include handing out $2.4MM contracts to JAG forwards.
-
He also played for the Habs and was generally a tough MF -- I heard him described on TV once as "a nasty piece of business." Think Mike Weber but a bit more speed and skill. He's from NYS.
-
Seems like a pretty reasonable deal for the Sabres.

I generally don't much care for the X-men movies. I watched about half of Xmen Apocalypse over the weekend and found it as tedious and overwrought as the rest of them. Bah humbug. -
Well, I think they have a more or less unlimited budget, and that Battle of the Bastards showed a very high level of battle-filming skill.
