  1. Me too. This is a more positive view, which I also endorse. But we shouldn't assume this will work, either.
  2. I liked what I saw of Bailey, but he obviously didn't earn a spot, which is kinda disappointing since there were several available. I also think Howie's philosophy is positive reinforcement, which I am fine with. Bottom line is that Bailey will probably get one or 2 more opportunities this year, but if he doesn't take advantage of them, that will probably be it.
  3. Well, you don't start with 5! Start with 1 mile, or half a mile, or whatever. (A not-very-fast pace, but still a run that will get your heart going, is 10 min per mile.) Wear an ipod and listen to whatever takes your mind off the run (I like to start with music and then switch to sports podcasts, but YMMV). You will find that you can keep increasing your distance by a quarter to a half mile each time, and you can get to 5 miles before you know it. You can also alternate running and walking as needed to catch your breath. The important thing is to sweat it out. There is no medication/booze/dope/other that is remotely as effective for stress/anxiety/depression/insomnia. Sorry for the proselytizing but I am such a strong believer in this. I am lucky not to have anything terrible in my life, but I'm still pretty busy with work, wife, kids, bills to pay, message board moderation, etc. and exercise is what keeps me sleeping at night and unwound.
  4. I know it feels that way, grasshopper, but I promise you that the Kelly-Thurman-Bruce era had more glorious wins than you can count. For instance: https://www.upi.com/Archives/1992/09/13/Bills-34-49ers-31/4063716356800/
  5. I feel your pain. Still: I don't think the Bills have had back-to-back wins like this since the commencement of the drought. They finally don't have losers running things.
  6. In theory, yes, but in reality I think it would quickly become unbearable again. The Rams got a pretty good WR very recently for a #2.
  7. Exercise and fresh air. You will be amazed at how much better, relaxed and comfortable with everything you feel after, say, a 5-mile run. Sweat it out. Satisfaction guaranteed.
  8. TT made some very nice throws today. He and Clay have developed a nice connection. The Bills also benefited from 2 pretty questionable and important ref calls. Great win.
  9. My point was that if we're going to have a real analytical discussion about that decision, there are quite a few nuanced variables to consider. I think the fact that it put them up by 7 with 12 minutes to go, on the road against a really good team, in a situation where getting zero points would've been a huge stomach punch, is compelling. I also think the fact that they won, and that FG was very important in the endgame, is pretty compelling. Your initial response was "you're wrong" -- which added nothing to the conversation and in fact detracted from it. Your second point, about them having success on that drive, was better, but hardly dispositive -- so I responded that if we are really going to break it down, there were quite a few relevant stats we could look into. You then delivered an excellent response to my point about Marv, which I commend you for. Those situations weren't the same as today's situation -- in the only 4th quarter situations, the Bills were down by more than 3 -- but it was still an effective response to my claim that Marv never would've gone for it. Bottom line is that we don't have applicable data to evaluate the decision statistically, and that I think agreeing to disagree is reasonable. I see what you did there. I couldn't find it on a quick search of that site, but I think EPA is league-wide -- i.e. not adjusted for team X vs team Y, on the road, etc. Well, the FG put the Bills up by 7 with 12 min to go. Atlanta wasn't going to score a TD and then go for 2.
  10. Ok. I don’t agree, but that is much better than “you’re wrong.” Here are some relevant questions: - what has the Bills’ short yardage red zone performance been this season? And what has it been on the road? And what about with the O-line that was in on that play? - what about the Falcons’ performance at home on D in that situation? I don’t know the answers to those questions, but I do know that the best coach the Bills have ever had would absolutely have taken the FG, and that he put together a ton of wins that way.
  11. I do indeed think that was the correct decision. What, specifically, is your disagreement with that based on?
  12. What is this based on?
  13. You don’t put lettuce and tomato on an Italian hero. You don’t intentionally become a terrible hockey team to get a high draft pick. And you take the freaking 3 points on the road, especially when you have a good defense.
  14. Sean the freaking wrestler!!!
  15. It’s time for Jerry Hughes.
  16. Win % likelihood right now is 81.7% per ESPN. That’s why you take the FGs.
  17. Freaking Hauschka is the freaking terminator.
  18. One more FG, then we hold them on D, then we go home with the W. Just like Marv would’ve done it.
  19. Crybaby losers!
  20. Sean the wrestler!!
  21. And look what happens when you take the 3 points!
  22. Taking the 3 points is absolutely the right call.
  23. Seconded. I’d love to see the high-scoring AHL guy get a shot with Eichel and make the most of it. And I have to think Pommer would be more effective against lower-tier opposition than against the other team’s top line. As far as that goes, it seems like Eichel’s line has spent a lot of time in the defensive zone so far, bottled up by the opponent’s top line and giving up a lot of opportunities.
  24. I like Wysh's hockey writing but don't really like MvW.
  25. So Griffith, Josefson, Nolan and ERod are all ahead of Bailey, Baptiste and Fasching. It's too early to give up on Fasching, but if Bailey and Baptiste don't have more than a cup of coffee in Buffalo this year, it will be time to assume that they aren't ever going to do so. I guess that also means that if Reino is going to be the #3C, it will probably be with Pouliot and ERod or Griffith as his wingers. Yeeeeeeeesssshhhh.
