  1. Who’s going to keep the sharp objects away from Flagg when ROR is traded for Pacioretty and a 2019 conditional 2nd?
  2. Respectfully, there is NFW that Pommer walks away from $5.5MM or whatever it is he's making this season.
  3. Since it’s a rumor and speculation thread, and since I’d rather trade Reino than ROR: http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=93405
  4. Also: Dahlin's dad, who played pro hockey in Sweden, doesn't have the arthritic disorder. So maybe Rasmus doesn't either.
  5. I subscribed last night. $42 for the 1st year ($30 for college students). Very good content (including 2 of the best hockey writers I’ve seen in Eric Duhatschek and James Mirtle), with plenty of #fancystats, a customizable feed and a good app.
  6. Whoa. That is a pretty hostile exchange. Also, it's hard to say for sure without seeing the entire conversation, but it seems pretty against the rules for TG to broadcast a private text exchange between him and MH.
  7. Good stuff IKP. Thanks.
  8. Mike Hoffman has to be seriously reconsidering his choice of spouses.
  9. It depends on who they get for Buffalo, but this will likely tip the scales for me and get me to subscribe. Generally their writers are quite strong.
  10. The book is indeed excellent, although Wyldnwoody's idea sounds pretty compelling too.
  11. Happy Father's Day gents. As we know, fatherhood is a challenging but incredibly rewarding undertaking. Good job fellas. Keep bringing it and you might even get rewarded by taking your kid to a Sabres playoff game! Edited to add: https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-fathers-lesson-keep-the-spirit-level-1529018196
  12. I'm not disagreeing that they would be better off ignoring his request. I'm simply pointing out that if those 2 items are true, the likelihood of a trade has increased, and perhaps above 50%.
  13. I agree that the agent probably is stoking the fires, but still: if he's stoking the fires, that means it's fairly likely that ROR has requested a trade. And if ROR requested a trade, and if the Hammy speculation about Eichel not liking ROR is true -- then there are 2 strong factors contributing to the likelihood that JBott decides that it would be best for the team to trade him.
  14. I don't think they are going to let an abundance of D in Rochester influence whether Pilut or Guhle or anyone else makes the Sabres' roster. That would be the tail wagging the dog. I think they are going to let a bunch of guys fight it out for slots 4-8, keep 1 or 2 extra in Buffalo as healthy scratches, and send whoever doesn't make it down to Rochester.
  15. Despite my rosy Karlsson scenarios upthread, getting him is highly unlikely. I don’t expect an established NHL player better than Skinner or Pacioretty coming back, although I do expect high speed and a top prospect.
  16. If ROR is indeed traded, I do not expect it to be a dumb trade, but I expect a heavy majority of the posts here indicate unhappiness with the return.
  17. Good to see ya SFiNS and happy Eid!
  18. I'm as optimistic about Dahlin as anyone, but he hasn't played a minute in the NHL yet. He's not a superstar until he is one. And Jack has played 3 NHL seasons at this point and is considered a superstar by no one. He shows flashes of being a top-5 NHL player, and he might achieve superstar status, but he certainly might not.
  19. The Sabres don't have any superstars.
  20. As duda pointed out, Karlsson and ROR are close in age (actually EK is only 15 months older). The Sabres would be getting a much better player (again, assuming EK is fully healed, which may be an unfair or unprovable assumption) who is also probably a better leader. This move would also substantially improve team speed. They'd also potentially have the best 2 defensemen on 1 team since Anaheim rode Pronger and Niedermayer to a Cup. And ROR's salary would wash most of EK's.
  21. Ooooooooooohhhh. That is a good one.
  22. OK, so Hickey is a defenseman who just graduated (let's hope!) from BU after playing what looks like 4 years in a full-time role, presumably top-3 D or higher, for a very good college program (I found it kinda interesting that he's from Edmonton but decided to play NCAA hockey, btw). He is 6'2", 201 and turned 22 two months ago. He was named team captain for his senior year and made honorable mention all-conference in a very good conference. This is a year old and is Flames official site propaganda, but still somewhat worthwhile IMHO: https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flames-top-prospects---brandon-hickey/c-289877112 And here's Dobberhockey (a good fantasy hockey site) on Hickey: https://dobberprospects.com/brandon-hickey-2-2 He looks like another young guy who can skate and has potentially a good 2-way game who is here to fight for a spot in the D rotation. If they sign him, even if he later washes out, that's as much as you could reasonably ask for in return for Fasching at this point. OTOH, if Fasching turns into another Taylor Pyatt, GoDD may re-enlist under a fake name.
