Very well said, with that in mind what do you think the Islanders do? If your Garth Snow and already took alot of heat for the trading of the pick do you risk just giving a team a top 5 pick this year to be in the McDavid sweepstakes. Who really knows if the Islanders will be that bad. I think with all the unrestricted goaltenders around and a possible free agent signing of a defenseman or offensive player they will be sitting worst in the 8-15 spot.

I'm thinking he meant they are not dynamic as Kane and Toews. Both are superstar players! Toews does it all and Kane to me is the best stick handler in the NHL. Might not be the biggest player but you sure don't see many players getting good hits on him. I think Reinhart,Bennett, and Dal Colle could all get there but they are not on the scale of Toews and Kane right now!

Sad thing is we need these clowns around for one more year of the tank!

I would be happy with Reinhart/Bennett and Dal Colle or whoever else Murray thinks in the top 10. I just think if the Islanders pick this year we don't see a high pick like that next year.

I would still much rather pick this year with the Islanders pick. I think they will be better next year at least better than what they are now.

In a way I hope NYI let us draft this year. I would draft 2 offensive players in the top 6 and then who knows what happens to the Blues/Miller pick. Murray could use the Blues pick plus a second or two to land another 1st rounder in the 10-20 range. I know people think they will be bad next year. I just don't think Snow is going to sit back and do nothing. He is already in hot water over that trade I think he would be happy if they finish 8-15 next year.

I watched the CHL Prospects game and he looked great. Seemed solid to me. Good awareness, good on faceoffs and excellent passer.

I still like Reinhart with our 1st pick. Doesn't do anything flashy just makes solid plays and makes the other players around him better.

I agree I have noticed that ever since Nolan came aboard that Stafford is playing an all around better game. He should know if he can keep playing like this he can be a factor!

I would be down with trading Myers for a top 5 pick. Take Ekblad #1 and then get either Bennett or Reinhart. Win win in my book. I like Myers but it would make total sense and u get a young stud on defense.

I agree with you. Definetly an elite goal scorer not an elite player.

Who in their right mind will give someone a top 5 pick without trying for a whole season to improve the team. I would be very happy to take their pick this year as next year I think Snow will try to make as many moves as possible so that we don't land a top pick.

See I agree people are thinking the Islanders are going to give us their top 5 pick this year. Highly doubt that's gonna happen. Plus who says the Blues don't re-sign Miller after the draft which only gives us a third. If I'm the Blues I have a deal in place for Miller and than announce it after the draft.

To me Vanek is a good player not elite. He's a pure goal scorer plain and simple and when he was motivated like that year against Boston in the playoffs before Boychuck took him out he was a machine.

My whole reasoning is why would a GM want to give us a top 5 pick this year without trying to improve his team so there is no chance of us winning next year's lottery with their pick. I just think Snow is not gonna sit back and let us pick a top 5 pick this year and then do nothing to improve his team. Yes the Isles are bad but a different goalie could have done them wonders. And I'm guessing he will have a handful to choose from through free agency. I also think they need a couple of d-man and another solid forward and that would push them in the 10-16 range. But if I'm Garth Snow I'm not gonna sit back and let a potential Elite Player for years to come just land in Buffalo's lap without trying to prevent that.

I also agree with this. Snow was an idiot to throw Moulson in that deal. I can see if Snow wanted Vanek without giving us a roster player but he gave up way too much but that's great for us.

This is what kills me about this whole proposed changes. Most teams know that you will probably get a great player drafting 1-3. It's not our fault this is the way Buffalo wants to go. Selling off a failed core and other vets to load up on prospects and future picks. So be it. If other teams want to go this route then so be it. It's been $hitty watching this crap team underachieve over and over again and always hovering between 8-13.

I guessing he will at least see most of what Minny is paying Heatley. I'm sure he can shoot down any negative talk about his game with a solid summer of working out and getting his mind clear for a different team. Kinda like what he did in Buffalo when he went back to Austria for alittle while.

I totally agree with this. Other GM's wanting to get a chance at 2 franchise type players wanting to change the system is BS.
