I think Roy going to Edmonton made Perron expendable. Perron is a very good offensive player. Yeah he might be -17 but Edmonton has tons of players in the minus. Smart move by Pittsburgh you get a damn good offensive player for a high first rounder. Again These are reasons why Edmonton is on this current streak of not making the playoffs. You don't get rid of solid talent for a player who might not play in the NHL and what I mean is that late first rounder. This is my opinion but you don't trade good players just because they have value you want to build around them. Edmonton won that trade when they traded for Perron but get some players around him. All the talk about them moving Hall and Eberle. You don't move either one of those guys and you build around them. If your moving a player Yak is a player who is young but seems like a bust to me. He should be the player moved for another piece.

I just hope Edmonton loses the draft lottery ###### that team. Problem with Edmonton is other than guys selected in the first round their picks don't pan out and then they wonder why they are at the last of the league for all these years. No matter who Edmonton gets ain't many players wanna stick there long term. Very true

Oilers trade Perron to Pens for first rounder in 2015. That should cement Edmonton at last overall.

This draft seems like Murray needs some wingers with some natural ability to put the puck in the net. I'm talking after our first pick.

I don't know if Murray keeps either one of Stewart or Stafford. Both don't earn what they pay both of them and neither bring it every night.

I think we made out just fine. Nic seems like he is getting better and works his @ss off and Fasching seems like he is going to be a solid player who is tough on the forecheck and goes hard to the front of the net. Compher looks like that same type of player but in a much smaller package. Always moving and gets in your face. I'm just wondering if Murray moves any of our unrestricted players soon for any of these players in this tourney. I wasn't able to watch this usa game today but I seen Eichel's goal and that was sweet. I can't wait to see usa-Canada this week. I want to see the Eichel-McDavid matchup and I want to see the US silence the candian fans.

I'm wondering since Murray didn't draft him plus he at the end of his rookie contract this year if Grigs gets moved. Reason why I say is I don't know if he can be one of the top guys to build around on this team.

If Larkin is that player Murray want Larkin + for Myers would be ideal. It should be interesting to see what Murray has planned. This is just me I want players who can skate, have speed and are constantly around the puck. I'm not sure if Grigs is going to be one of those players.

So what's the chance that Myers for Larkin + gets it done? Do u think Buffalo keeps Myers or unloads him?

Reinhart isnt flashy but quietly puts up points. Yes we know he needs to put on more muscle. So if Buffalo finishes with the third pick do u pick up that defenseman from the USA and trade Myers for some offense? It should be interesting to see how Canada plays against Eichel because right now he looks pretty darn good.

Which Team was Closer to Winning the Stanley Cup?
SabresBillsFan replied to LastPommerFan's topic in The Aud Club
That 2006 team was I believe the best until all those injuries started to mount. What did they have left 1 top 4 defenseman when it was all said and done and Connelly was a machine until he was blasted. Sad because that was the team to beat.- 52 replies

GDT: Sabres at Red Wings 12-23-2014 7:30PM
SabresBillsFan replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Flynn isn't as bad as people make him out to be. I don't know how long he will be around because we have a lot of players coming. -
The Sabres got some tough games coming and at least Carolina is gaining. I just think it might be a three way battle between us, Arizona and Edmonton. Arizona has no weapons up front at all besides Boedker. Only thing keeping them in games is solid coaching, hard work.

I also agree with others here is that GM Murray shouldn't be bothered if we don't land 1 or 2 though. He and his scouting staff should be finding NHL talent all thru the draft. Just say this they need to make sure they hit more on these picks than miss. Me personally would like to land McDavid or Eichel who are surefire studs for years to come rather than worry about a player they pick at 5-10 who has a better chance of not being a player that can change the game. People can say what they want about players but as long as their is big money involved any GM can get players as long as the owner wants to throw money around but it's up to great GM's to build thru the draft, make sure these players are developing correctly and making moves thru trades and free agency to put them on a whole nother level.
-
I agree. Like I said before mediocre talent can only take u so far. A lot of these players are playing in spots where they wouldn't be on real playoff contending teams. My big question is Enroth looks to be winning over the coaches with his play of late. I want to know the long term fix for these goaltenders. We have a bunch coming and then you still have what to do with Stafford, Stewart and a couple of other players. I agree we can't just get rid of all these players for non-roster players. At some point u need to stop grabbing picks and get actual players. Problem I see is u won't get much for any of them.
-
These players know how to win problem is mediocre players can only take u so far. Most players on this current club are playing in spots they shouldn't. Foligno is a fourth liner. Our 1st line is more like top teams second lines.

The Cup people that's what this tank was all about and right now I would much rather have a superstar at 1 or 2 to lead the charge for the ultimate goal. Let's face it a player like McDavid or Eichel would help this rebuild big time. Their work on and off the ice speaks volumes and will rub off on the current bunch of players and prospects we currently have. I have seen to many also ran teams with Buffalo and want a top team for years to come. I don't think ownership and the hockey department signed off on this tank if it wasn't for this draft and last years. Let's face it yeah they are winning games but too many issues with this current club to make this kinda climb to get back in the playoff race. I'm a diehard fan like everyone here or we wouldn't be posting but I want to see a franchise superstar lead this team. The pieces are falling into place it just the big gun we need now instead of a climb to a 5-10th pick.
-
You guys know Magic Johnson wants the Lakers to lose as many games as possible to get a good player. So yes I know most don't care about we he says but you can see a pattern between both leagues.
-
I still think he should have been traded. I know why they let him go but letting a solid player go for nothing is just plain stupid. He could have got another pick or two out of any deal. I find it hard to believe we couldn't have landed another second or third rounder for the guy.
-
People we all want the Sabres to do well but if your like me I want a superstar or franchise player to build around. We all know about McDavid and Eichel and both are gonna be good ones. The problem I have right now with the sabres doing well is for the ultimate goal. The Stanley Cup. Not being an also ran like how many years of the Sabres history! Yes drafting high doesn't guarntee success but this team hasn't had one or two superstars since LaFontaine and Mogilny. Yes I know we didn't get to the cup with both of them but I feel with all our prospects coming combined with one of the big two plus solid drafting this year sets us up for a long competitive run at not only the playoffs but the main goal the stanley cup.
-
Just waiting for this team to get the mumps so they can start a nice long losing streak. I know that's bad to say but gee why in the world are they playing this good now. They ain't making no playoffs with this squad and I don't want to lose out on one of the big two.
-
Sabres are ruining Murray's plan---what does he do??
SabresBillsFan replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
This is a good point. I still want one of the big two. We need a superstar up front. Yes we had good players up front in franchise history but this team hasn't has star power up front since the 90's! I'm talking LaFontaine and Mogilny. Yes we had two great players up front but the rest of the team wasn't good enough. I believe with all the picks, prospects and what we currently have combined with one of the top two in the draft this year we could have the makings of something special. People talk about Detriot but the still have all stars mixed with a lot of above average talent. -
I don't trade Myers unless we get the better of the deal. I think our top 4 defenseman are taking shape. Yes the goaltending has been great but I'm liking what I see out of both of the kids and Myers and Gorges seems like a good pair. I don't care how many shots teams are getting its all about the quality.
-
I'm still on the tank side but Arizona and Edmonton might be worse than us. And now with the talk of moving Yandle and almost any player off Edmonton that might be tough trying to beat out either of those two finishing last. I'm guessing we pick out of the top 2 but no more than 5.
