Perhaps I am too optimistic, but I think we will be in the playoffs next season.
-
Owen certainly seemed very excited when the Sabres drafted him - as did his family. He either is very excited to join the Sabres or was an extremely good actor. P.S. I don't discount what others may have heard, but I am confident that Power and his family are excited about him playing for the Sabres.

Wow. So sad. Way too young.

Robin Lehner, Vegas starting goalie, might be done for season
Peter replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Has he blamed the Sabres' doctors yet for his injury . . . . -
If it were Eichel rather than Zhitnik, Eichel would have demanded a trade to Russia and would have blamed Zelenskyy.
-
The Sabres bent over backward for the guy. We all have heard the rumors about him and Dan Bylsma as well as how he treated other players (both veterans and players he did not think were in the "cool club"). Before he had the injury, he wanted out and then his PR team (and others) pushed the narrative that the team should take all of the risk (a $50 million risk) on a surgery that was not insured for a player who wanted to be traded in any event. The Sabres ended up accommodating him by trading him to a team that not only was a Cup contender but also willing to allow him his surgery. For some reason, there were those that complained that the Sabres should have traded him sooner for the bag of pucks that they were being offered. I am glad the Sabres waited to get a reasonable return . . . and it was poetic justice that Krebs and Tuch scored (players who want to be part of the solution) and that it was Eichel who got his pocket picked for the last goal. In my opinion, his unscripted comments after the game gave everyone a glimpse of what he is like behind the scenes when the cameras are not rolling. He should be happy. He got what he asked for.
-
He showed a glimpse of what he is really like behind the scenes with those petty comments. I am not one to boo players and would not have booed him if I had been to the game, but about the only thing he accomplished by making those idiotic comments is to ensure that the booing is even louder the next time he plays in Buffalo.

The NHL should be embarrassed about this. I am surprised anyone would defend the reversal of the goal for supposed offside after Marty amply demonstrated that it was not offside.

If we did not have bad luck, we would not have any luck at all. Screwed by the refs. Ugh.

Very true.

Exactly.

Kevyn Adams has botched the Eichel situation horribly
Peter replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
You are 100% correct. So well stated. -

I believe we will get more than what previously was offered. I also think that, because of Adams/Sabres' approach, there will be a change. It appears that JE finally realized that the Sabres are in "control" after the meeting with the Sabres, JE's former agent, the NHL etc. -

This only would make sense if Adams never makes "use of the asset of Jack Eichel." Be patient. Please tell me what great deals Adams has rejected? Has there even been a rumor that Adams has rejected a great deal (or anything approaching fair value)? I have not heard of one. Have you?!? I doubt it. I am very happy with the approach Adams has taken. Let's see what happens. -

Then we disagree. Fair enough. I like the approach Adams is taking and have NO problem with not doing a deal just to do a deal. Negotiating is a process - whether it is a multi-million dollar business deal or simply purchasing a car. P.S. Has anyone heard of any "offers we'd all take" that Adams has turned down?!? I certainly have not. -

The part that I underlined makes sense. The rest of the sentence contradicts the first part. I am all for NOT caving just to get a deal done. -
Thanks!

If some of you are upset about Lehner's complaints about former doctors (who, by the way, recommended a legitimate course of treatment as someone else up thread pointed out), you are going to be really upset about his comments about Buffalo Sabres fans. P.S. To think that I actually felt sorry for the guy when he got destroyed in that game 7-1 against the Avs . . . . Not anymore.

This is so true. The only NHL quality goalie we had last year actually had a winning record . . . unfortunately he now plays the Bruins.

Pegulas New Bills Stadium Proposal a Public and Private Partnership
Peter replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The people and media who spread the BS about threatening to move the team should be embarrassed. -
Linus had a winning record for the team with the worst record in the NHL. I will miss him. On the other hand, I always have disliked the Bruins, but up until now, Philadelphia has been the top team I have disliked. I may have to reevaluate which team I dislike more after T. Hall f*cked us and now Linus signing with the Bruins. Side note: Under no circumstances should we trade Eichel to the Bruins.

This makes no sense to me but who knows. Nevertheless, I seriously doubt that GMKA's agenda when he was hired was to trade JE. For the past few years, I have read rumblings here and elsewhere that JE was wasting his career and presumably would like to get traded out of Buffalo. I did not believe those rumors then but I am sure other teams did hear about them and contacted the Sabres about a trade. The fact that a GM would receive those calls is not earth shattering. As we all know, GMKA did NOT trade JE then. Fast forward to the end of this season. I fully believe that JE is trying to engineer a trade and is using the supposed dispute with the Sabres re the surgery that he supposedly wants done (that NO NHL player has ever had) as an excuse. I hope that GMKA will to continue to hold out for full value for JE and if he does not get full value, JE has a choice as to what he wants to do for the next five years. It is going to be interesting to see whether JE actually has the surgery if he gets traded. We shall see.

I always thought Paul is among the best Buffalo hockey reporters. It was funny to watch the others piggy back off of him during the post game interviews in the locker room and head coach post game conferences (before the pandemic).
-
He was not the only one. Taylor Hall must think that many of the Buffalo sports media are homelesss. I was embarrassed for some of them.
-
Indeed. Everything about the press conference reflected really well on Taylor. He clearly is very bright and thoughtful in the way he went about this and also in responding to the questions. Taylor expertly dealt with some of the negative Nancies in the media (who seemed like they were trying to look like they were being held hostage or were homeless and could not be bothered to shave etc.) who asked questions that pushed their narratives. A few questions were like - why would you ever come to Buffalo - yes, I am exaggerating but still). Taylor clearly did his homework on the team, Buffalo, the Bills, and the Pegulas. What you mentioned also impressed me. Taylor went out of his way to say Jack is the best player on the team. Taylor was the first pick in the draft and did not have to go out of his way to say that about Jack. To me, that shows that Taylor is a team first guy and he will not let whatever ego he has get in the way of that. I also think that he will fit in very well with the team, fans, and city. It also helps that his parents can drive to Buffalo to watch games if they can. I am very excited and hopeful that this is not a one year and done deal.
