Disagree on the tank strategy. It got us an elite player in Eichel but Murray made too many mistakes with all the capital. We could have been much farther along had we drafted Sergachev and Drasital instead of Nylander and Reinhart. Wasting a first round on Lehner was also absurd.
-
No excuse for power play going from first to worst. Phil and assistants are much too inexperienced and way over their heads. Hopefully a coaching change occurs at end of season. This team is much worse than when Bylesma was coach.
-
I think the strategy is to unload all 3 to try to get faster and use the cap savings to resign Kane after we trade him for a number 1 and a top prospect. I'm not sure anyone wants KO with his contract.
-
He was overdrafted because of his last name. GMTM made the same mistake with Reinhart. They are both too unphysical to excel in NHL hockey
-
Mel Kiper has Lamar Jackson rated as his 7th best QB. That's not good enough for me. Don't start bashing Mel, had the bills followed his rankings we would have drafted much better over the past 15 years.
-
Lamar Jackson is the next Tyrod Taylor. He is the worst possible outcome of the draft. His skill set is remarkably similar to Tyrods as are his flaws..

Fire Housley now. He is in way over his head. They need to hire an experienced head coach and bring in new assistants. I am sure Botterill is panicking. I have never seen an NHL team give up like this -
Sign Kane now
-
I think we should just resign him. If he is not on the team next year we will be back in the lottery again. We can not afford to lose our best players. I doubt he will sign for less than 50 million. We just have to figure out how to dump some bad contracts.
-
I think EK gets traded close to the deadline for a huge return of prospects and picks from a contender. We then resign him in free agency for 7 years 50 million. We also will try to pad Okposa's stats and move him to free up cap room. Unfortunately he is so bad with a ridiculous contract, we may not be able to move him.

This is an ugly power play -
You can't just keep losing with a first time head coach and a first time GM and not have major consequences, I think 4 more consecutive losses and they bring in a consultant like Lindy.

Unfortunately Baley, Baptiste,Fasching and Nylander have shown nothing to make me think they will be NHL players. Of those only Nylander has hope and he is at least a year away.- 524 replies

Babcock is clearly better than Housley and Morgan Reily is better than Risto. Sam Reinhart is a poor mans Tim Connolly.( Tim was 5th pick overall) We are not in the same league as the leafs. Our 2nd best player is a free agent after this year and may not resign. It is not a pretty picture. We are a very wimpy team except for Kane and Nolan. Kane will likely be gone and Nolan shouldn't be on the ice

I'm in total agreement with nfreeman on this and that rarely happens. I think a sat pm sabres game followed by a sunday bills game with an extensive tailgate starting early would really allow for some serious bonding. I would also be coming from out of town so the earlier the better. -

Byelsma didn't surprise me but Murray is shocking. Giving up a first for Lehner was a mistake and giving big contracts to Moulson and Ennis was a mistake. -
I guess Larsson has moved ahead of Girgensons at the Center position on the depth chart. Not a huge surprise

Most pundits thought Matthews was better than Eichel. He certainly looked in a different league last night. Leafs will be much improved this year as will the Oilers
