  1. That was a soft goal. Ullmark has to stop that
  2. I really believe that at this point Housley would like to get fired. It must be tough for him to live away from his wife for a long period of time. If you’re winning it’s doable but in this situation his life must be hell. If he gets fired he keeps the money and gets to hang with his family in Minnesota.
  3. Under Bylesma the power play was decent. It’s on Housley for the complete regression of the power play
  4. That may have been the worst power play I’ve ever seen
  5. Wow the place is empty. I’m sure tickets were cheap on the secondary market. This reminds me of the Thrashers just before they moved. If the community won’t support the team they should move them to Quebec.
  6. Dahlin is going to be a superstar but he is not close yet. When he become a Norris candidate in a few years we will hopefully be much improved. At this point he is a defensive liability.
  7. Maybe JB deserves a bit of the blame here for assembling such a wimpy team. He got rid of our physical guys in Kane and Foligno and left us only with Bogo to intimidate. While I hope Okposo recovers quickly a LTIR for Kyle would help rid us of that onerous contract. Some folks here like to blame Jack for everything, he's not Mcdavid and he's not a leader like Toews or Messier, and he's not a intimidator like Chara but he is an awesome hockey player.
  8. I agree that Scandella was much better last year. I’m not sure what happened to him this year. We do miss a physical presence that Foligno and Kane provided. The Dawgs are my 3rd favorite team after NU and Michigan. Based on your family’s affiliation you are certainly not a bandwagon jumper.
  9. So despite being an IU alum you’ve adopted the bulldogs as your college football team. Well at least you’re not a complete masochist It’s tough enough being a Buffalo sports fan you need at least one competitive team. I’m an NU alum and my daughter is at Michigan. I think Bogo is decent when healthy and Dahlin has been great offensively but mediocre defensively but will be much improved next year. Scandella was another bad trade by JB.
  10. OK GA sabres fan, you are one of my favorite posters but Sam is the least of our worries. He is playing well on the first line and the second line. The problem with Sam is he will want big money soon. Lets worry about how we are going to rid ourselves of the rest of the trash on the roster like Sobotka, Okposo, Scandella etc. Also your profile picture is problematic as PH needs to go. Perhaps a Thrashers logo would bring back some fond memories. BTW I live in buckhead and am a huge BIG 10 fan but not IU. Time to root for Michigan hoops and Northwestern football.
  11. I think Eichel is hurt and will have major offseason surgery like a shoulder labrum or something like that. Just a guess but that is my prediction.
  12. That was terrible positioning by Hutton, and yes it was Hutton’s fault.
  13. Hutton sucks. He was a mediocre signing. I’m really concerned that JB is in over his head.
  14. No some type of injury. Although it may be in preparation for a trade.
  15. I’m convinced ROR asked for a trade last year after he saw what a shitshow the team was l with an incompetent first time coach and a first time GM trading away one of his best players in Kane for very little. Now Skinner is seeing the same thing unfortunately and the future looks bleak. While I love the Pegulas and I have never criticized them for anything, they have hired too many first timers at GM and Coach.
  16. I think Skinner is gone. If I’m him I have no confidence in JB or PH. Skinner is doing everything he can but he just saw the team get rid of 2 of its top players (Kane and ROR). They have no impact players in Rochester ready to play in the NHL. Other than being close to home, why should he resign? He will get huge money from many teams that are ready to contend. The Sabres are a shitshow and Skinner knows it.
  17. Yes I think we are looking at the following scenarios either: 1. He signs 8 year 78 million which is way too much or 2. Leaves as UFA I don't see a scenario where he gets traded at deadline for significant compensation due to his NMC
  18. I think JB may have made a mistake with the bridge deal for Sam. When his contract is up, he is going to get huge money 8-9 million per year. With the cap going up he could get Eichel money in 3 years
  19. I think drafting Nylander really set us back.. We absolutely need another top 6 winger and unfortunately he has shown very little. I don't JB trades our first round picks but I would not be shocked if he moved someone like Bogo or Risto or Nylander or Ghule. I think in a year Kane's contract will look like a deal.
  20. I would like to dump Sobotka's contract as well. I'm not expecting the first round picks from the trades to have any significant impact on the Sabres for 3-4 years. I do not think JB will make a major trade either in the offseason or at the deadline. Hopeful some guys from Rochester can have an impact next year or JB can find another rental like Skinner in the offseason.
  21. I agree with not dwelling on past mistakes. However the returns on the deals for Kane and ROR have been mediocre. Going forward I would like to see Skinner resigned but hopefully the money won't be insane. I would like to unload Scandella, Beauleu, Pomminstein and Hunwick at the deadline for picks. I'm not expecting much of a return. I'm worried that very little else will be done and we will go into next year with esssentially the same players.
  22. We could easily have fit all 3 under the cap. There would be no Sobotka, Sheary, and Hunwick. Hiring a first time head coach was the other critical error.
  23. We need both Kane and Skinner not one or the other. Oh well no use dwelling in the past but Botteril’s 3 biggest moves have been questionable at best. As a GM he is in Doug Whaley territory.
  24. I feel like the trades were ill advised. The returns were not great and draft picks who won’t have an impact for years. We could have easily afforded Kane and ROR. I think with a better coach and adding Skinner and Dahlin to last years team, we would be a strong contender now.
  25. I know its unrealistic but if sabres are not in playoff race at trade deadline then we should trade Skinner and resign him as a free agent. This would allow us to accumulate more assets to shorten the rebuild.
