When you have a competent GM anything is possible

Kane’s contract is much better than Skinner and he provides a physical presence which we are desperately lacking.

Stop trying to defend Botteril. He is utterly incompetent in every respect. He is among the worst GMs in NHL history Terrible trades, terrible contracts, terrible coaching hires. Every minute he is still here sets us up for future failure. I can’t wait till he is finally fired.

If Botteril is in charge, we are not a smart organization.

He would be a fast top 6 forward for us and Botteril is going to grossly overpay Montour as his prized acquisition.

Montour is mediocre. Another terrible Botteril trade. He’s also going to get a hefty contract.

I would love Kapanen for Colin Miller but I’m sur the Leafs want Montour instead.

It was an overpayment by TM as KO stats were grossly inflated by playing with John Tavares. This is analogous to the terrible contract JB gave to Skinner whose stats were inflated by Eichel.

He was losing his top 2 players Bobs and panarin Jarmo is awesome. Unfortunately he’s not available.

If we hired Torts and Jarmo today and fired Botteril, we could be a playoff contender next season.

Look at what a great coach and a great GM can do despite losing elite talent in free agency. Now look at our incompetent GM and you know why we are the shitshow of the league.

Those are great points. What type of compensation would we have to give to get Cirelli? Something tells me Zach Bogosian is not going to cut it.

Keeping an incompetent like Botteril will only mortgage the future for a longer period of time. I have no faith in his ability to spend the available cap space and make prudent moves to make us a contender. We need an experienced proven GM to make the moves now. I highly doubt Cirelli is available. He’s exactly what we need.

Except for some unknown reason we play Skinner on a line without a real Center and he is thus ineffective.

No evidence we would have lost Skinner. Botteril grossly overpaid but no other team was able to offer 8 years. I highly doubt any team that he would want to go to would have offered more than 49 million.

Skinners contract is another reason Botteril should be fired immediately.
